The ballot for this strike was taken way before any general election was announced and got the biggest turn out and yes vote ever! Nobody votes for strike action lightly don't forget none of us get paid during a strike! |

I hope they appeal, what is the point of having rights and organisations to protect those rights when private enterprise can take court action to have those rights overruled?

That is the biggest load of toss I've ever heard any one have the neck to claim as a viable reason! Firstly not all that many posties work in their own delivery offices and second I actually do work in my office and I pick up my own mail everyday.. I took my ballot paper home and made my vote with Mrs Reaper present and with her consent I might add!

Oh yeah instead they based it on some concocted bollocks from a nameless RM manager who is no doubt being well renumerated for his completely unsubstantiated evidence! You might not give a **** about your postal service in Scotland but we do down here mate!

So any dispute can only be acted on so long as it doesn't disrupt Santa, leave it out? Do you know us Posties get to watch a video (are forced to watch) from the bosses and last week they said they would respect the vote and keep it live, meaning we wouldn't have to ballot again, so long as the threat to strike was taken off till after xmas. In other words they had no problem with any so called voting discrepencies and basically if we still wanted to strike after xmas when no one gives a **** that would be ok!!

To be fair, Royal Mail / Post Office have always been the same. I remember when I was a kid my mum worked for Post Office and my Dad for BT, both were out on strike at the same time...dad was out for weeks. It crippled them financially and took years to recover from. No one takes strike action lightly when it directly impacts them and their families. This high court action seems to be a death knoll for the Unions if voted for actions can be over turned. We are all going to be minions soon. Sorry you're going through this Grim and Mrs Grim

Everybody's jobs have changed. The more technological we become, the fewer people we need. And with the advent of the email, the postie's job was never going to remain the same, sadly. I have a wonderful postman called Colin. He doesn't just deliver the post, he collects it from elderly people as we're a bit remote. He checks on people to make sure they're okay, especially in very hot or very cold weather and generally looks after the people on his round. He is a super-nice man... posties do more than just deliver letters.
