Default Best movie franchise?

Poll coming up

What's the best movie franchise.

Do you like Sergio Leone's "Dollars/Man with no name" trilogy? Or are you A fan of "The Godfathers?"

Is the "Star Wars" franchise your thing? Or maybe you like the "Indian Jones" franchise.

"Back to the future" was a popular trilogy, as was "The Terminator" But the lesser known Linklater "Before" trilogy is well respected too.

The 21st century has produced some good ones, with The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean. Not to mention "The Bourne" trilogy and Nolan's Batman Triogy.

I'll also add Toy Story and Avengers to the poll.

I suppose I better add "Scream" to the poll for the slasher movie fans.

I've gone for Lord of the rings, because even though I prefer Godfather part 1 and 2, the 3rd doesn't reach the standards. Whereas All 3 LOR are solid and probably just pip the Original Star Wars.

There's a difference between "best" and "favourite", I think Matrix is the best.

Rings trilogy by far! All 3 films are masterpieces.

The Dark Knight Trilogy is a close second.

Most of these aren't even trilogies.

I'm counting Star Wars and Indiana Jones as their original trilogies, not counting the later films. So most are trilogies. And I did mention in the OP that there are some that surpassed a trilogy.

Then it shouldn't be called 'best movie trilogy' since most of these surpass a trilogy.

Should've just called it 'best movie franchise' or something.

But it's no biggie.

It's make believe, just go with it.

"Franchise" is a modern term in the movie industry, "Trilogy" is more old school, and I'm afraid I'm a bit of a traditionalist, sorry about that.

but star wars and avengers(MCU) are a franchise. Star wars has 3 trilogys though so you could have added all 3 of them (original, prequel and sequel) and Avengers well there's 4 films called Avengers plus the other movies they did (solo movies) but no biggie.

But there are only two Terminator and Alien films? There are also two Star Wars trilogies

ETA: and only one Godfather film. The third.

Halloween franchise is my favourite but Scream is by far the most consistent.

Out of those BTTF easily. Though I'd give nods to Matrix, LOTR and Avengers .

The one that frustrates me is Terminator - I think it has the potential to be an AMAZING franchise - but since T2 it's ranged from "not quite getting it right" to "just awful". The world creation and lore are fantastic. The execution though, just can't seem to hit the nail on the head.

Alien is actually a Quadrilogy, not a trilogy

but yes that one is my favourite franchise, besides Jurassic Park/World, and i also recently enjoyed watched all of the hunger games movies

if i gotta rank alien movies

1. Alien (first one is the best yep)
2. Aliens (good sequel, more alien action scenes, good acting, nice storytelling)
3. Alien Resurrection (especially loved Brad Dourif's role in this too)
4. Alien 3 (not bad but bit too much storytelling, took too long before any major alien action)
