St.Patrick's day parades have been cancelled across Ireland amid concerns about the Coronavirus outbreak in Ireland.

Parades in towns across Cork, Sligo, Tipperary, Laois, Kerry and Kildare have been cancelled and postponed until further notice.

Health authorities have released a set of guidelines in order for people to be protected from the Coronavirus. These guidelines have been reviewed and considered by the organisations of the above parades in order to make an educated and safe decision as the health and welfare of citizens becomes top priority.

Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald has stated that she believes the Dublin Parade will not go ahead due to health and safety concerns.

If it makes people feel safe, fair enough I guess. But for me, this is unneeded fear mongering. Still think most people have either had it, or currently have it, or will get it soon and its nowt to worry about with the huge majority. Do parades get cancelled in flu season?

Also agree on businesses. 'Just a parade' yeah, but that parade brings in possibly a lot of businesses main income for the year! Like if pride was cancelled in London, a lot of businesses would lose a lot.

I do get that side of it.

But realistically, we are waaaaaay past the point of containing this. We have not much option than to let it run its course now, so just go about life as usual, but with extra hygiene.

Do people get any immunity to this after catching it actually, not something I have read about but thats usually how viruses work

Actually a disco my son was supposed to be going to next week has also been cancelled.

I guess they can't really order independent businesses to shut up but they can stop events like Parades from going ahead

Proper flu, as opposed to a bad cough and cold will kick the crap out of you for a week mixed between fever and chills. This is 30 times more contagious and 30 times more lethal. No way have the majority of people already had it.

most of that death rate stats comes from China where people smoke like crazy and healthcare is not the same as in the west so id take that stat about death rates cautiously
