- she slayed week 1 and rightfully got her win.
- did REALLY well in world's worst and was the best of her group, should've been high.

- was safe for snatch game with worse performances from Brita, Aiden and Crystal.
- most queens did great for the rusical, and she was no exception.

Widow has at least shown she can do multiple things out of her comfort zone. Her ball runway creation was my favourite from that week, it wasnt even an outfit it was an art piece

And yet she said it herself that she hasn't been competing at her best level yet, and apart from week 1 she really hasn't done that great. Her runways aren't that good, she's way too cocky for her own good, and hasn't done anything outstanding since week 1. So no she's not leading the pack, and yes she's been mediocre so far.
It doesn't take any of her talent away though, but hopefully her landing in the bottom 2 will humble her a bit and she can get her head in the game.

Episode 4: I'd give her a B. I didn't like the Basketball Wives look but the other two were cute.
Episode 5: Another B. Did well in the Gays Anatomy challenge with a very weak scene partner.
Episode 6: Snatch Game... eh she didn't do as badly as Aiden/Brita/Crystal but she was pretty much on the same level as Jan and Jaida. A tentative C.
Episode 7: Did pretty well tbh, I'd give her a B+ and deserved a top placement over Crystal.
Episode 8: Comfortably the worst video, so an F.

All in all that'd average at about a B- which is a good grade and I agree that she's been more interesting and complex than Jackie... hell, even arguably Jaida. She is confessional gold, too.

But... Drag Race fans hate confident black queens so she'll get hate whatever happens.

It's got nothing to with her being black. I love Heidi but not Widow. Her confessions come across as quite cocky and not nice to the others.

as far as Gigi getting hate.. the amount of support she will get will always far outweigh the 'hate'. I think the majority of us are just tired of the show pushing her narrative. They're trying to give her the Violet/Aquaria edit, but Violet was an ACTUAL fashion queen with many iconic runways, and Aquaria at least had a somewhat amount of depth to her as well as some edgy looks.

a few of my friends are casual viewers of the show and they all absolutely adore Gigi and of course they dislike Widow, Jaida, Jan.. call Crystal messy, say Heidi should've gone weeks ago etc etc

Queens like Gigi will always succeed in the real world, so its painfully boring seeing them succeed and be continuously praised on the show too

It has NOTHING to do with skin color wtf I'm the biggest supporter of any drag queen that goes into this competition knowing it's very hard, very demanding and puts your personality to that level of pressure. And specifically for black queens who are underestimated or have lesser financial means that some others.
I don't stand for the white twink queens receiving more love and recognition when they've been less performant than their black counterparts. This fandom is toxic as hell when it comes to that. I've been to drag shows since I was a teenager and I love that art in general. So don't assume anything about me just to pull out the race card anytime someone doesn't like a Drag Queen. If I said "well I don't like her black ass" or put an underserving white queen on a pedestal over a much more talented black queen just for the sake of it, then I would agree. But not here, not with me. I don't ever do that.

And yes, Widow is talking way more than she can deliver SO FAR. Her performances can always change my mind once she can out of her head which I hope happens as from next week.

Just like when Monet won because to some of them "Ru needed to crown a black queen". Like wtf guys, she did better than Trinity in some parts of the competition, she really deserved the title. That fandom is something else. And the following and "verified" status on social media in regards to black queens is also something else

And as for Brita, she was also a good exemple of someone talking way more than what they delivered. That and jumping at Aiden's throat every 2 minutes.

Yeah I don't endorse that user's posts, have them on ignore for a reason.

But I think Saph hit the nail on the head re Gigi perfectly when she said that "queens like her will always succeed with or without the show". I generally watch Drag Race for drag excellence, and seeing what multiple facets of the artform there are. I fall in love with personalities, yeah, and that is usually my driving force for my favourites (hence Heidi being the favourite from the beginning despite only just winning a challenge), but every season there are just some queens who have...nothing major about them. I don't consider myself a Gigi hater because I do recognise she's deserved to do well this series, but I'm frustrated that she's won 3 challenges when she wasn't a clear standout in any of them.

You get hundreds of drag queens now who have accrued a hell of a lot of fame and following even without the show because they adhere to the white, skinny, young blonde Instagram aesthetic and have very clean, concise and admittedly beautiful makeup. They are set for the next decade or so until their fans grow up and move on. What's annoying is that these queens then have an advantage when they try out for the show and deliver boring performances (see: Farrah, Ariel, Miss Fame, Plastique, Aja in S9) and even though they might not end up the fan favourite of the series, they still get way more attention than the comparatively "unpolished" queens that actually have an edge or performance skills. And, yes, usually the queens of colour too. I mean, take last season: Plastique ended up with more fans and success than A'Keria despite A'Keria actually winning two challenges and making the damn final.

I also wouldn't bring up Bob the Drag Queen and Monet X Change as examples of the contrary Barry when they both had very strong, adverse reactions to their wins. Monet's because of the "joint win" aspect, and Bob had a very big number of detractors in the S8 finale because of her confidence. I'm fairly sure Kim had the most vocal fans in that finale. While they may be now thriving off of Drag Race success, it isn't because of the fans, it's because producers recognise their talent and innate charisma.

Widow has plateaued massively and only really delivered in the Rusical last week, where she should've placed high. Sis is definitely not a front-runner, let's not kid ourselves into thinking she isn't just a sitting duck at this point.

A'Keria not ending in the top two and therefore potentially winning was such a robbery! That would have been a breath of fresh air in the winners circle. Hope she can get her shot at All Stars one day!
