No but it shows being a young dad is no guarantee that you will see your kids grow up.

I’m sure he will have step dad when Bernie pops off.

...at 89 years old, doubt that he would have predicted the outcome to result in pregnancy......

What would you suggest they do? Give up sex even if they can still do it? Contraception isn’t 100% effective

Imagine if they had aborted the child because he was too old to be a father again, they’d be called even worse

...it’s just good the pregnancy all went well and resulted in a lovely healthy baby....I’m sure there’ll be a great family support unit for little Ace with his mum, dad and older sisters and that he’ll be very loved...

Obviously I hope thats the case and Ace is healthy, however its too early to tell if there are any cognitive developmental issues.

When was ‘freezing your sperm’ a thing though ?

He’d still have been ‘past his best sperm-wise’ even 50 odd years ago ..

It's not unknown for people to die at ANY age.

If you're fearing dropping down and dying before you reach a ripe old age you'd never have kids.

Children in a classroom come from a wide variety of different family set ups.

The single parent or step-parent set up is no longer out of the ordinary, it's actually quite common.

If you call having sex with their spouse "gambling" then the majority of the population are guilty of it. People can't have sex unless they've weighed up the likelihood of that one shag resulting in a baby?

Well, it sort of sounded like you didn't given you mentioned how risky it was for her to have a baby in her 40s since "people die in their 40s Niamh!". People die any time, so unless at risk of dying from old age or a terminal illness, it's a silly thing to throw at someone for having a baby. There's no reason for a relatively healthy 44 year old woman not to be able to raise that child into adulthood and be around for a long time.

no reason at all, equally she may not, snd she cant rely on Dad being around now can she, selfish pair who know there is a 90% chance their little lad will attend his Dads funeral by his 10th birthday, lets hope he is not too attached

Why would she need to rely on Dad? Many people get by just fine as single parents with a lot less cash than she has so she won't struggle financially either.

It's sad for the kid to lose their father young, of course, but there's no reason she'll be left in any kind of desperate situation.
