Well, it sort of sounded like you didn't given you mentioned how risky it was for her to have a baby in her 40s since "people die in their 40s Niamh!". People die any time, so unless at risk of dying from old age or a terminal illness, it's a silly thing to throw at someone for having a baby. There's no reason for a relatively healthy 44 year old woman not to be able to raise that child into adulthood and be around for a long time.
