Default How long should the regular working week be?

Guess I’ve got the best option there is aside from being retired ..

I work Monday , Tuesday - off Wednesdays ... work Thursday and Friday then off for the weekend .

Basically means I get the ‘ Friday Feeling’ on Tuesday and Friday ...

Years ago I worked what I was told was a ‘European week’ ( they probably lied !)

It meant working 6 days then two off on a rolling basis... I never took to it - seemed very strange to be off for two different days each ‘week’ ..

I can strongly recommend having Wednesdays off if anyone ever gets the chance .. it completely breaks the week up and you get the Friday feeling twice a week

That’s being greedy

Many people have one day off but not many think to choose Wednesday - big mistake

Given I charge my clients by the hour,
and there is always work to do,
the working week needs to be as long as possible without losing my sanity.

Everyone would choose Friday for a long weekend then the country would grind to a halt ... ( well slower than it already is lol)

4 days a week.

One day off between the four, then two in a row?

If it was lower then shops wouldn’t be open as long, nor would pubs/many other venues. Also the economy would be impacted largely making everything far more expensive.

And so I would keep it as it is as I wouldn’t want all the negative impacts

Most people don’t have a clue what it is to do a real days work.

This country is full of lazy people.

That's because what it is to do a real days work is different for everyone. If someone brought me their TV to fix I'd turn it off and back on again and call it a day, but I wouldn't want anyone to talk to my clients either, apart from maybe Annie because we work in similar sectors.

Silly thing to say.. a very typical middle aged bloke thing to say you're under the impression you and others like you are the only ones to contribute to society.

Newsflash...You aren't.

It’s the person cleaning up sick p1ss and sh1t that’s doing th real work not admin in the office same as the man out in all weathers working not the guy on the phone talking for a living.

Your under the impression I care what you have to say! , news flash, I don’t ,.

I don't agree with that I'm afraid. Every person is a cog in the wheel, take one away and the wheel won't turn. If 999 operators didn't work on the phone all day, no-one would be able to phone for help, if admin wasn't done in offices stock wouldn't be ordered and customers left unhappy etc etc.

...as long as you need it to be, really...and obviously taking into it your employers needs as well in any negotiations...a work balance in terms of finances and needs and other life balances etc will be very personal and individual...I think that’s what Cal said also...

People who think that only manual labour is "real work" usually haven't done, or aren't capable of doing, jobs that require a lot of thinking. It's just as exhausting. Depending what's going on it can be more exhausting.

I've worked 12 hour shifts on my feet that were 10x easier than a bad day in front of a screen.

Oh give up if the person cleaning the **** didn't have their wages processed by payroll then how would they get paid? And if the guy in HR didn't get paid how would he pay for childcare that wipes his kids ****ty arse while he's at work?

We all pay taxes and VAT, we are all important.
