Great so a bunch of idiots are going to breed thousands and thousands of Pit Bulls to make a quick buck, then when the novelty wears off they'll be a load more homeless and stray dogs walking the streets.
Ridiculous

Good. I used to think it was a breed problem, but I realise now that it isn't, it's generally a human problem.

Yes it is a human problem and there are many many stupid, irresponsible humans who will be responsible for children being mauled to death now

I do think some kind of mandatory training of some kind might be a way forward. But the crazy yanks won't even allow that on guns, so dogs have no chance.

I’m unsure how I feel about this tbh since although Pitbulls have a reputation for being dangerous and I agree that it’s the owners who are the sole problem, there are plenty of pitbulls out there that are well behaved with good owners and are really good family pets so it’s unfair to tarnish them all with the same brush. Also if pitbulls are banned, people will just find other breeds of dogs to use for dog fighting etc (I’m sure Rottweilers and the various bull terrier breeds have this reputation over here) so that is going to be a big problem to try and get rid of.
The argument for banning them is a strong one though and I can see that side of it because not only do human victims suffer when they are attacked but the dog also suffers too due to the irresponsibility and neglect of the owner. Another issue is the unpredictability of dogs attacking one another. If two owners are walking down the street and the pitbull was to break lose and get hold of a Yorkshire terrier for example, the latter dog won’t stand a chance but the pitbull could’ve still been brought up in home with very good owners. These sort of things do happen sometimes and I can understand why a lot of people may feel intimidated when they come across these types of breed of dogs and why there are people ‘for’ them being banned.

I don't think the breed of the dog makes a difference, hopefully there will be a lot of rescues and better treatment for the dogs of that breed who have been owned illegally.

I know there are good owners and I know there are many good Pit bulls but take a scroll down the list of fatal dog attacks(to see how much difference the breed does make) in 2020 in the USA and then look at which breed was responsible in each case

There’s no such thing as a naturally dangerous dog breed, just dogs that have been badly trained and poorly treated

I mean the responsibility is 100% on the owner but that’s the thing, there are gonna be sh!tty owners. If someone who is a poor owner owns like a chihuahua or something and it gets poorly trained, it’s not as unfortunate as a poorly trained pitbull that has a very high chance of killing other animals, dogs or even children. It’s just bad for the dog tbh when it inevitably gets put down. My stance has always been there should be restrictions on breeding pits, but tbh I have wider issues with the dog breeding industry in general like it’s fcked there’s people paying £1000+ for designer puppies while they are dogs getting put down in shelters because nobody wants them

Maybe not a naturally aggressive dog but there are dogs that are more dangerous than others when they do become aggressive for whatever reason and yes most likely because they're not trained properly or in the wrong hands. A chihuahua may be more naturally aggressive than a Pit Bull but they're not going to cause serious injury or death if they attack you either, that's the difference. You can say well that's humans faults not the dog and I agree but unfortunately it's usually children or an innocent adult that pays the price for an irresponsible owner.

Well yes, some dog breeds are obviously bigger and stronger, but that doesn’t make them ‘dangerous’, in my family I grew up with Rottweilers, they have awful reputations, people used to cross the street when we walked them, but 99% of the time, it is down to the training and taught temperament of the dog, they behave how their taught or allowed to behave.
Our rotties were all beautifully calm, loving dogs and one of them we rescued because she wasn’t being treated very well and she was a bit aggressive, but we trained her and she ended up being an angel. Dog attacks are predominantly a result of human error or negligence, certain breeds shouldn’t just be banned in case they fall into the hands of someone that can’t be bothered to train them, It’s like banning cars because some people might crash and hurt someone

I don't disagree with any of your points except the last. People need cars for transport, you have to get driving lessons and pass a test to be allowed drive, you need no training and you don't need to pass any tests to own an animal that could potentially kill someone.

Pit Bulls are very much a misunderstood breed of dog, what i do know from that one reality series Pit Bulls & Parolees, which i kinda love, of Tia Torres and her pit bull rescue centre, with former parolees where they rescue these dogs, and place them on the list for adoption, to help them find their forever homes

So people are the problem, not the dogs, teach people to be better and responsible, don’t ban an entire breed

to check if it are really responsible people, and if they already did any preparations themselves, as for a strong fence in the garden etc, enough toys and a good doggie bed, proper dog food, water bowl

Yes I know they are I haven't disputed that but there will always be idiots and why risk an innocent person being seriously maimed or killed? There isn't a shortage if dogs needing homes in the world
