Default Labour-run local Croydon council goes Bust

This was on BBC1 London Local news
yesterday.

[Croydon Council becomes second council in two decades
to declare bankruptcy
The borough has imposed emergency spending
restrictions under a Section 114

Officials blamed the coronavirus crisis coupled
with 'a decade of austerity'
Last authority to use the order was
Northamptonshire County Council in 2018]

[Hamida Ali, Croydon Council's leader,
said yesterday: 'We need to be honest about the
fact that, for a number of reasons, the council is on
track to spend more than we have.
'The Covid-19 crisis and a decade of austerity
have had a major impact on our finances
but it's clear the council has also made mistakes,
and I am committed to fixing that.']

Most councils are struggling, if they don't get the right funding from the government then things like this are inevitable.

Does it matter who they’re run by? Areas are struggling in a horrible time, politics really has nothing to do with it

with the Government

It also appears the economy rose by 8.5 percent from july to the 2nd of november.. it can only be bad money management by the local labour run council.

Would the people claiming it's due to bad management be doing so if it was a Tory council? I doubt it. This wouldn't even be a story if that was the case.

All councils are struggling, stop demonising one party while licking the boots of the government that have their heel on your throat.

That's one Labour council and then the Con one in Northamptonshire then.

They aren't likely to be the last sadly.
