Be it for a police or ambulatory emergency.
I’ve had to do it twice and it was a weird feeling on both incidences.

Yes once this year sadly (police). Otherwise it's been others, not me, for ambulances and such (nothing very serious thankfully).
When I was little though, around 5/6, I dialled 999 on the sly "just to see what happened" and they very nearly sent ALL services out "just incase" because they thought I was a child in distress. Thankfully my Mum managed to inform them it was just me being a little **** before they despatched after I'd come clean in a huge panic to her... Oops... The house phone got moved to the top of a big cabinet soon after that... ![]() Last edited by LaLaLand; 24-03-2021 at 03:18 AM. |

Ambulance, once for my elderly neighbour and once for my younger son, and my other son was carted off in an ambulance from school one day as well, we like to get our money's worth

Many times, ambulance for family and friends.
Police too, for others I've come across in danger or because they were afraid to. Which some people are sadly afraid to. |

Just twice, we lived right on the edge of a village (last house before national speed limit sign) when I was a teenager and randomly one evening a car hit a lamp post outside doing like 70. The car looked like a crushed can and was lying right across the whole road (on a blind corner) but the driver was nowhere to be found - police later assumed the car was stolen. Anyway, my dad went to put his car round the corner with hazards on as if anyone came round that corner fast they’d have been ****ed, and I called 999.
Other time was at work because there was a guy in the street threatening a group of teenagers with a massive machete ![]() Called the police countless times of course when I was in bookies, but for everyday stuff we had the direct number for the station which was just round the corner, we didn’t have to call 999 or 101. |

Oh yeah that's right, I did actually call for a fire once. Sat watching telly at 1am, curtains started flickering, looked outside and the neighbours across the street's shed had gone up in a fireball
![]() Luckily I didn't have to go in trying to rescue anyone as the people living there came out like ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Oh **** I also called 999 for an ambulance like 18m ago because my wife fainted with her eyes wide open and I thought she had died! Good job brain, doing your best to keep that memory repressed
![]() She had been ill with the worst stomach bug, paramedics came but by then she'd come round and they were like "lol there's nothing wrong with her, just a sudden blood pressure drop from being so sick". But yeah there's a 999 recording out there of me somewhere, rambling and insisting that my wife "had died" but was now "sat up talking" ![]() Then I caught the same bug and spent the next day vomitting my soul out and was like "I understand why u briefly chose death". |

Last time was 4 months ago I think phoned police and ambulance several times police took 2 hours to get there ambulance showed up about 4 hours later
Three pcso’s at one point were kicking broken car parts of the road. I said I bet they didn’t teach you that in police training The first boy of a police man who turned up and spoke to the guy who caused the accident I had to step in and tell him his version of the accident was biased to what actually happened and that another car had left the scene. Traffic accident outside our old house, I phoned for an ambulance.
In my younger days there was an incident that involved stabbings, our house was crawling with the police and the kitchen was set up to take statements. |
