Default Indonesia :Navy Submarine missing , 53 on board

This is an Old Submarine
terrible way to die.
If it's not found.

[Indonesia has deployed six warships in the
search for a navy submarine that went
missing with 53 people on board.
A helicopter and 400 people were also
sent out on the hunt, the navy said.
Singapore and Malaysia have also
dispatched rescue ships,
while nations including the US, Australia, France
and Germany have offered help.
The KRI Nanggala-402 vessel had been
conducting a drill north of the island of
Bali on Wednesday,
but failed to report back and
contact was lost.

The German-made submarine
is thought to have disappeared in
waters about 60 miles (100km) off the
coast of Bali early on Wednesday morning.]

David Marquet
Former Nuclear Submarine Cmdr. USA Navy
was just on CNN HD Live

Reports it could be 700mts deep,
He said sadly they would not survive.

An oil slick is in the water.

Honestly the entire concept of submarines gives me nightmares. I have a slight phobia of the deep ocean and the idea of heading off down there inside a steel tube... ... ...

How people can live on subs for months on end is beyond my comprehension

Sadly, I don't think this will have a good outcome, and to be honest, if that is the case, i hope the end came quickly

At 700m really it depends... if it was just immobilised on the bottom then it would be suffocation (which isn't that bad from slowly depleting oxygen, you'd just get a bit breathless then fall asleep). If the integrity failed then I think at that depth the whole thing would basically implode like stomping on a coke can.

It is a shame no one has made a Communication Device
that works that deep.

Maybe they let some Oil out
to float to the top?
But who can go to the bottom of that Sea?

A submarine missing since Wednesday off the coast of Bali with 53 people on board has been lost, the Indonesian navy said on Saturday.

Parts of the submarine, along with debris including prayer mats, were found near to where it went missing, the navy chief of staff said.

A scan detected the sub at a depth of 850m (2,800ft), well beyond its survivable limit.

It was only carrying enough oxygen for three days.

The KRI Nanggala disappeared after requesting permission to dive during a torpedo drill. The German-built vessel was more than 40 years old but underwent a refit in 2012.
