What’s the most you have or would pay for a hotel room per night

I think the most I have paid is 140 per night 2 people.

The last weekend away we had, we splashed out a bit because of the Lock down blues and we wouldn't be going abroad anytime soon we paid €300 a night for 2 nights, we did get breakfast both mornings and 1 evening meal included in that though

Well it's the normal price for that hotel, it was a 5* and we booked it in January while everything was still locked down, i think once they officially announced that hotels could reopen prices may have gone up, saying that though we've booked 4 nights away for next month (in 2 different hotels) and the prices were still pretty reasonable tbf

It's actually sickening that people can and would pay that much

i spent £800 a night one trip and we were upgraded to an absolutely magic suite that would normally be double that price. It was pretty special, but it goes against the thrifty scotsman in me

The most I’ve actually paid was £160 a night for 2 nights when we were at an awards thing in London.

However the nicest room I’ve stayed in was a £350 room at a boutique hotel, but we were at a wedding being held in the hotel and the grooms paid a bulk deal for rooms for guests so we only actually paid £120. The room was amazing - the bed was MASSIVE and it had the most epic monsoon shower . The bathroom was so posh that the toilet was in its own little enclosed cubicle, so that you didn’t have to think about dirty things like poop whilst having a nice shower or bath (it also had a huge deep bath but sadly I didn’t have time to test that).

When we go away a Hotel room is always so important to us because it creates a big part of the memory and a drab old room would spoil our stay. We like a suite if possible...probably the most we have paid is about 250.00 a night when we went to New York.

Oh we stayed in one like that for my brothers wedding, he paid for the room though so no idea how much it would have been

The daft thing is, these days the cheapo hotels are often more comfortable than the expensive ones if they’re new-builds. I mean yea they’re IKEA chic but they;

1) Are clean
2) Have air conditioning
3) Have good showers
4) Have good soundproofing (so you’re not bothered by other people - not because of being up to hanky lanky you filthy buggers :Nono: )

Older buildings can be lovely, but they can also be stuffy in summer and have dodgy plumbing .

That said the £160 one in London had the best water pressure I’ve encountered in my life. I felt like I’d been sandblasted after the shower.

Also, we stayed in one really posh hotel a few years back, the dinner was crazy expensive and the portions were tiny plus it was so stuffy and quiet you were nearly afraid to speak or move, not a relaxing dinner at all

I can’t remember what the hotel bit came to, but it was the Régina Baglioni on the Via Veneto in Rome, chocolates on the pillows, rose petals scattered all over the bed, the whole nine yards.
I’d had a good week, and it was my wife’s birthday coming up, so I pushed the boat out, Alitalia scheduled flights, a Mercedes picking us up at Leonardo da Vinci airport, and four nights in Rome.
I can’t even remember the total for it all, but this must have been 15 or 16 years back, and I’d take a stab that they possibly charged £500 per night for a double room then, (if you just walked in and asked for a room.)

We had a suite with a terrace at the Bernini Hotel in Rome for our honeymoon. It was about £1800 a night and was very much a once in a lifetime thing. I justify it by the fact we had a really small wedding.

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris one Easter weekend and had a nice room in Dubai for Mr C 40th, mainly when we go away we go low to mid range as long as it’s clean with a decent shower as we spend most time out of the hotel so not too fussed, some expensive hotels have the staff going a bit over board on the servitude attitudes which doesn’t sit right with us either
