Default Liz Truss replaces Lord Frost in post-Brexit talks

Just as tough.

[Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will replace Lord Frost
as the UK's lead negotiator with the
EU in post-Brexit talks.
She will retain her role as foreign minister alongside
the new post leading negotiations over
the Northern Ireland Protocol.

It follows the resignation of Lord Frost
as Brexit minister on Saturday.]

Oh my.
She's pushing herself forward it seems.
Johnson better watch himself.

I think she may see herself as in Thatcher and Heath days.

Although this may prove a possible shrewd move from Johnson.
As this post seems to be rather like a poisoned chalice.

i think it needed a change there anyway, There was bad blood between Frost and the EU. I don't know about Truss in detail, but she seems to be someone with lots of ambition but little intelligence to back it up

Pretty much the same as every other cabinet minister to be fair

I meant he may be throwing her into great problems.
As she's being seen by some in the Con party as a probable replacement for Johnson.

If she gets into problems here, her star may fade considerably.

just as an aside .... when did either of the main parties last have a deep thinker in the cabinet/shadow cabinet ... i'm really struggling to think of one.

Say what you like about the days of old, but there always used to be people with half a brain in the cabinet

This I can go along with a fair bit.
Although it's my profession, for me there's too many lawyers in parliament.

The whole process is often treated like a courtroom drama, always more confrontational like defence and prosecution.

I can hold onto a thought that the vast majority of MPs and in all parties, DO want the best for the economy and the lives of people across the UK.

They have different ideas on how that's best achieved.
Of course.

This attitude of one all wrong and another all right doesn't serve the UK at all.

Too many career politicians too who want to get to the top at any cost.

I will always love to see more consensus in politics.
It doesn't need to be nasty and so confrontational with utter disrespect for opposing views.

I was a more Con supporter myself.
However as a bit of a contradiction to what I've just said .
I turned away from the Cons
From firstly, the NHS top down reorganisation which was said would never happen, yet did from 2011 onwards.

Those reforns saw 4 of my family, 2 who were Doctors, leave the Country and take their skills elsewhere.
The second and main thing, was the humiliating, destructive and cruel in my view re-assessing and testing of the sick and disabled in the UK.
I've personally witnessed really heartless and even degrading assessment of those with dementia and even cancer too.

That is STILL going on, from the directives of government from 2012 onwards.
That I find grossly offensive and why I intensely dislike this present government so much
It's unforgivable and has been in place and carried out now by 3 consecutive Con Prime Minister's and their Cabinets.

Cameron, supported by Clegg and the Lib Dems.
May and now Johnson.

In any decent civilised society for me, the weakest, poorest, more vulnerable, sick and disabled should NEVER be cannon fodder for those in power.
Liz Truss has supported these directives and policies too.
So she's just another one.

The one thing I can be sure of is that in Labour.
There are I doubt any now who would penalise and victimise the poorest, most vulnerable, sick or disabled.
Which is why, with ALL it's faults I support Labour and could never defend this lot in power right now.

However, until the electoral system is changed and absolute power on a minority of the votes cast is removed from ALL parties.
Sadly these cruel and in my view bad policies will be able to be enacted.
