Default The BIG debate that nobody will talk about .. women commentators / pundits in men’s f

There’s an ongoing furore online ( X Twitter ) around this delicate topic yet the tv channels or radio stations are keeping silent .

Anyone prepared to air their views !?

My stance is that I hate listening to women commentating on men’s games and the same applies to the female pundits in the studio

There are hundreds of women’s games on telly now ( with no male commentators) so now there is plenty of work available in their game

The male commentators/pundits we are all used to seeing were all ex players who played their careers at the top level and we all grew up watching them .

Now whether you like them as people or not they all know what they are talking about - simply due to all the years of top level training / coaching and the experience that comes with that .

I used to positively detest Roy Keane and Gary Neville as players but they are my favourite pundits now simply because they are qualified to speak and criticise and more importantly .. because I just KNOW for sure that they are qualified to offer an opinion.

We don’t know anything about these women and as such they get about the same amount of respect that any person ( male or female ) dragged off the corridor and put in front of the cameras would get .”

I don’t know what person male or female who likes this bludgeoning phenomenon of women ‘experts’ smothering our beautiful game

Rant over

I never listen to commentary at all in sport.
By Men or Women.
I use the mute button, usually put music I like on and sit and enjoy the matches.

Not having to listen to the tripe spoken a lot of time in the commentating.

If women have played football at the highest level I don't see the issue, it is the same game, it is not like there are different rules, and the women have won the Euros which is more than than the men have done? that said I didn't understand why there were no male pundits at the Womens world cup on UK TV at any rate, maybe it was different elsewhere

I don’t think they SHOULD be boxing or participating in MMA because women are built differently than guys .

:::::-

Research into other sports has shown female participants are more prone to concussion than men, raising questions as to whether safety and equality are compatible in boxing, and splitting opinion among respected figures.

"What we do know, from other sports, is that women have a higher rate of concussion than men. And this is not really understood.
"The studies are uniform - if you look at women's soccer, the concussion rates are nearly 2:1, so women playing soccer against other women produce a higher rate of concussion, per hour of participation, than men playing against men.
"We did a study where we looked at jockeys - we have lots of female jockeys, particularly in point-to-point racing. The women actually fall off less often than the men but when they hit the ground, they have nearly four times the rate of concussion. It was about 3.6:1 compared to the men and that was very interesting for us but very, very difficult to explain. It's the same right the way around the world."

You can’t compare the top level of women’s football with the same level of men’s …

Plus my other gripe is that WE don’t know how good they were as we’ve never seen them play ..

if you are that bothered by a pundit/commentator then switch it off or mute the sound. No-one is forcing anyone to watch it

…to be fair though, that’s only part of an article and not a complete context…another part would be…

"It is disrespectful. Women are either boxers or they are not and therefore should be allowed to contest championship bouts over 12 three-minute rounds like the men. Anything less is sexist and fails to recognise the quality, commitment and hard work that women put into the sport."

Sadly I need the commentary on to help my focussing issues ..

See the idea of 3 minute rounds is horrendous.. the extra minute each round reduces their punch resistance and makes knockouts FAR more likely .. further adding to the risk .

…I know that some have views on it …(…mainly because I’ve read them here from time to time…)…but I’m not sure that it is a big debate, let alone one that ‘nobody will talk about…’…I just don’t think it’s one that everyone has specific feelings about or opinions about, whether a commentator is male or female with any given sport/match/competition etc…

…the idea of any rounds of anyone receiving blows is pretty horrendous to me…but I know that’s a personal thing of not being drawn to that type of contact sport…it would make no difference to me though, if it was a male or female taking part…

Equality for all.
Male or female, if they know the subject, whatever it is then go for it.

…this is quite a nice article to read as well…

Why More Women Should Take Up Boxing Classes

Boxing classes are great for women because it brings a strong feeling of empowerment and confidence. Even today, every woman has experienced a time when they were overlooked or dismissed as not good enough, simply because of their gender. Boxing is a unique sport that embodies power, strength, grace and mental tactics. Boxing teaches mental toughness and provides an emotional catharsis for all its participants. Boxing has proven to decrease stress hormones and increase endorphins, helping to relieve stress and boost your overall mood. Particularly for women, it’s important to discover your full strength, and with that, confidence in what you can accomplish in this world. There are no excuses and no limitations in a boxing ring. For women, it can be a powerful and life-changing way to discover their inner strength and apply it in every aspect of life.

Boxing classes ( mainly for fitness) are excellent .

They don’t encourage shots to the head and many apparently wear headgear anyways

…in my experience it’s not about being scared to share an opinion…why would be scared to, that wouldn’t make sense…it’s that there is no particular leaning toward either a male or female commentator based on gender…but more leaning towards personalities of just finding someone more fitting with your own commentary views, I guess…

Jose Mourinho never played football at a high level, he still knows his football, would agree with you if they dont know what they are talking about but do they, some male pundits dont know what they are talking about either even if they played at a high level, remember Alan Hansens 'you win nothing with kids comment'? I must admit I rarely listen to the pundits so I dont really know if the are good or not
