Just see on the news that scotland is pushing for this.
What do you all think? Should it also include broken hearts and people wanting to commit suicide, or just be for painful terminal deaths? |

POW! BLAM!

I can't really see an argument against it, as long as the person is at capacity.

So long as mental capacity/psychiatric stability is granted and there really is nothing more the doctors can do, absolutely. 10 Downing Street really needs to learn to mind its own business when it comes to other people’s life-choices when they don’t directly infringe on the rights of anyone else. It’s a disgrace that in 2023 euthanasia is still essentially considered a crime.

Yep....should be legal after a terminal diagnosis and whilst the person is able to make the choice.

Imo if it's terminal then I think that the person that's dying should be given the choice on if they want to end their suffering.

It already is legal in my eyes.
It’s not the illness that kills some one but the morphine dose being increased gradually and how doctors predict how long someone will last in the final stages And I believe it would also give doctors the legal right to end a person life without the family giving consent And what If a doctor made a mistake gave a wrong diagnosis the person chose to end their life. |

No. Because I saw a documentary about a healthy girl of 18 who was bored of her life and wanted to end it.
She almost went through with it 'legally' in another country and then she was talked out of it. Two years later she is so glad she didn't do it. |

That’s the problem isn’t it, bit of a slippery slope, it should only be legal for terminal illnesses though again that could be abused by horrible family members who will bully their relatives into a decision they might not be ready for, capacity is one thing, undue influence can also be brought to bear, so it’s not quite as clear cut, though on balance I would be in favour, I can see potential pitfalls

I'm after long thought on this issue over the years on the NO side.
I doubt the certainty and correct checks to ensure a right way on this are even probable. If that could be guaranteed then I could think differently but I don't at this time believe the full checks and all else to consider can be guaranteed. |

Yeah my thoughts are with the posts above that it is very open to abuse but also to mistake. I'm not comfortable with it personally
