If you can make sense of that title (I hope so because I’m not trying to explain it, really, am I?), what would your chosen terms be?
I’ll start with Xmas (comes across as fine in writing but sounds so awkward/weird when it’s actually spoken), ironically.

I don't think I've ever said Xmas out loud, it's definitely a written space saver type word

Yeah, no, I’m the same but I literally heard “Xmas” being pronounced verbally for the first time today (that I can remember anyway) and it sounded really weird.

I wouldn't use it personally but I see it places like, the Christmas radio station I listen to is Xmas FM (probably because it fits neater on the radio screen

Xmas is a terrible word. Written or verbal.
Sounds like some sort of skin condition |

I know "hanged" is the correct useage, but it never sounds right.

I was only talking about this the other day, how come Americans pronounce it erb for the food but Herb when it's the man's name?

It's the stuff of your nightmares. ![]()

Wouldn’t “hung” do in any “correct” context anyway? “Hung” sounds more syntaxically-correct than “hanged.”

Nope, it's hanged, when talking about the execution method.

“Similar” the way New Yorkers pronounce it is a bit strange.
“Seem-oo-lar.”

Sounds like some sort of implicit reference to Purple Aki.
