Obviously the launch official was 3.4M which is amazing.
A few weeks in the offficals are 1.5M which is still decent. But why do you think made nearly 2 MILLION not bother to keep watching? That’s a huge drop, and surely has to be the biggest drop a series of Big Brother has ever had. CH5 series were never amazingly rated but they would loose that % of viewers after launch.. The first 3/4 days it stayed about 2 Million in officials
But by about 7/8 days in it had gone down to 1.5M |

Launches are typically higher-rated and always have been.

I’m talking about why so many people stopped after launch.
That’s a lot of people who had stopped watching after 1 week. It’s never that much of a depreciation. 2 million is over 50% of launch viewers. 20% stopped about a week in. Last edited by Will.; 21-11-2023 at 10:43 AM. |

Why would they want to see everything bad about this country highlighted on their screens night after night . I felt it was depressing watching the down and outs ( downstairs crew) have free rein over the house and the nice and decent folk upstairs . It was a cross section of our country Noisy , selfish, greedy , unruly , dishonest , bullying people dictating to the more amenable and generally much nicer people. With the all seeing Big Brother doing nothing to help the helpless ( the opposite in fact ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Mo Last edited by Zizu; 21-11-2023 at 11:32 AM. |

Well the drop off was all in the first four days. It was almost rating the same three weeks later as the fourth and fifth HL shows were getting
Obviously a lot of people just tuned in for launch out of curiosity and nostalgia with it being the first BB in years and the first ever on ITV. BB hasn't rated that highly in well over a decade though so it was never likely to sustain those ratings |

Officials aren’t 1.5 with all added officials should be about 2 million. This has rated higher than any channel 5 series.

What made them watch the launch and first week and then stop. Because I don’t think there’s been a series where that many tuned out. For example didn’t like BB13 or 14 get 1.9M launch overnight and continued with 1.4/1.6M overnight mostly. BB20 had such a % drop but still good figures. I think early one some fans suggested the housemates were too diverse, plus i think people tune in to see who the housemates are then go back and watch another show.

Jessica Meuse was robbed.

BB12 on Channel 5 launched between 4-5 million viewers on Launch and dropped to 1 million at one point in the series.
But overall I think that BB sacrificing Live Feed harms it's brand in the eyes of the public. It's not just in the UK tbf, Australia & Canada can't seem to get the non-Live Feed era to work either. And some people might call it a coincidence that BB's ratings keep flopping every time that they take Live Feed away, where as I call it a pattern of behaviour from the public to what the Production is trying to sell them.

Because I bet that some of these people that you're talking about were also complaining that Channel 5 only had white southerners on the Show, with a token Scouse or Manchurian.

Plenty of people tuned in at the beginning hoping that it would manage to recapture the magic that made the C4 series so great. It (very) quickly became evident that it absolutely had not and a lot of people just don't have the time or energy for a half-baked attempt.
And y'all know it. Rose-tinted glasses firmly glued to faces because you really want it to work... ...and I'm not saying you shouldn't have enjoyed it, obviously each to their own, I'm sure there were things to enjoy in it but any one of you oldschool fans who would dare try to tell me that this is "proper" Big Brother, and not just some other reality show wearing Big Brother's flayed and decaying corpse as a skinsuit... ... ... all I can say is how dare you besmirch the golden era in such a way. You know it isn't true. You know it isn't what you hoped for. You know why the ratings took a nosedive . |

And this BB had pretty much every element of what makes a classic BB series imo. The only thing that really let it down at times was the production |

Guess it’s impossible to compare given some watch it live , others on catch up , or record and watch some other time, ITV X , maybe some on YouTube? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

In other words, it was a cheap knock-off. Tacky. The Norman Bates of reality telly, prancing about in his dead mother's dress and wig.

You have to. You have a forum in its name to run.
The reality is, it was a failure. And the forum turncoats have disappeared again once it's over. Like I said they would. But don't worry James. I'm loyal among others on here and will stick around. Hopefully we snapped up a few newbies to stick around too. |

…it would be interesting to see some forum stats, I guess in terms of ‘old school’/as in long term members and those who freshly joined TiBB on the run up to or countdown to and during BB…that maybe would represent the ‘new wave’ of fans…
…anyway, so far as old school fans …I personally didn’t even anticipate watching the series, let alone chatting and posting about it…and from the returning faces on the forum of back in the day, many felt the same…it obviously gained a lot of interest initially but then kept many of us engaged throughout, also…and that’s kind of a pretty big commitment and investment of 6 weeks and 6 days a week of highlight shows etc…and from the inside here/the battle frontline line of the forum, we used to call it back in the day ….there were no rose tinted glasses to be seen, only matchsticks propping eyes open at times with highlights and and late show and live feed… …anyway so far as ratings go, they were always going to drop from the launch because it is a huge time investment and it also has conflicts of other shows and series etc…back in the day, it wasn’t just Big Brother/a reality show ….it was the big mother of all such type reality shows…and any ‘competition’ of watching didn’t factor in streaming channels and multiple reality shows …one of the reality shows going at the same time as the launch was MAFS and that had a specific storyline going on at the time that was of particular interest to anyone already watching…obviously back in the day old school channel 4 BB didn’t have streaming site series always ongoing as well…and there is only so much TV investment that can be slotted into life schedules as well… …is/was this proper BB, though…?…yes it is/was most definitely … the housemates were very much back to being a diverse cast and it very much immediately fell into ‘social experiment’ with groups/cliques forming and with friendships and bonds connecting and housemate conversations that were always so much a part of it…the tasks may not have been perfect in their length of time/some were very bitesize to condense into the 6 week slot…but they were good and fun tasks and again, very much gave a nod to old school, I thought….but we don’t know with viewing figures, which school percentages make them up…how many old school viewers/how many new school…so without knowing that, we can surely only guess reasons of why any drop, if there was one…I mean, was the drop for example, below any that was expected following on from a launch night record high for over a decade, anyway…?….all we do know when it comes to old school and back in the day BB…is we know the faces and activity on the forum, don’t we…?…that’s our gage of that golden era that’s very much still full of life and hopefully going to grow with lots of new age fans as well… |

The ratings were holding up nicely over the series. Was there ever a series picking up viewers in the second half of a series? That is a VERY good sign for future years.
The launch night ratings were coming from interested casual viewers, they were never going to stick. |
