Is it ever inappropriate?
I have definitely noticed it a lot more recently. Yesterday at the airport just in the seating area. I thought to myself surely there is a praying room in every airport? And then a few days prior I was on a flight and a guy set up his mat at the back of the plane next to the exit door and prayed for a good 3-5 minutes. Also on both occasions the guys were young (not older than 30) and handsome. Not like this weirdos you see in London. |

It is not my business. Nor do I have much time for stereotypes in general (well done, Ollie). Some prayers aren’t even discernible but if overt prayer is the way they (that individual Muslim) want it, that’s just how it is.

if they are inconveniencing others in a public space then it shouldn't be allowed. If they are not, then they can do as they like

I’d respect them for being devoted to their faith
Some pray five times a day . |

It doesn't bother me....but there are certain places like the aisle of an Aircraft etc where maybe a bit more thought should be given.

Its just insensitive imo...anywhere on the Aircraft in view of passengers who may be nervous of flying...may have some connection with people who died on 9/11 etc.... go to a quiet part of the Airport and pray before you board. |

It’s not your own front room, it’s not the persons fault who is praying that someone else is a nervous flyer or has a 911 complex

Its not his front room either....therefore you should be more thoughtful and considerate of others that's all....not much to ask. |

Alright then, no more ‘inappropriate’ than those bible preachers shouting in the street

If an old white person started reciting the rosary on a plane, nobody would flinch, if one religion is allowed to be glorified in public, then all religions are

I'm sure lots of people pray when they get on a flight, it's just not quite so overt. Assuming they're praying because they're planning a terrorist attack is perhaps an understandable human reaction - but it's still essentially racist.
FWIW of course as always I think it's all a bit silly, talking to imaginary people in the sky like it means something, BUT people are and should be free to do what they want so long as it isn't clearly harming or disrupting others. |

why would they have to be old or white to recite the rosary, there are plenty young black catholics, not sure how many times you have been on a plane but I have never in all my years flying heard anyone black or white recite the rosary, and if they did they would be disturbing other passengers if they were doing it out loud don't you think, it would be no different than having to endure someones taste in music because they had no headphones so yes I think there would be flinching
