Default Labour Wins By-Election 15th Thurs. Feb :Conservative MP Chris Skidmore has resigned

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67895246

[Conservative Chris Skidmore is quitting
as an MP over the government's energy plans,
triggering a by-election to replace him.
The former minister said he could not continue as a
Tory MP ahead of a vote on a bill on Monday
to guarantee annual oil and
gas licensing rounds.

The Kingswood MP added his "personal decision"
meant his constituents deserved
the chance to elect a new MP.]

He had already announced plans to leave Parliament at the next election.

He was standing down anyhow at the next election I believe.

Look, just have a general election.
Even if that general election is one used only to clear the air and get a proper new mandate and resetting of Parliament

Risking losing more by elections in this supposed election year seems quite a bad error of judgement AGAIN from Fishy Sunak.

Yes as his Zone Region is changing.
He supported Truss.

I assume he has a new job lined up
as the real reason.

labour are expected to win both seats.

Apparently, Bone insisted that his current partner be selected as the candidate which is crazy, so she is not expected to be elected

I live right on the border of the Kingswood constituency and used to work in the centre of it. It's quite a deprived area but also very traditional, it's like the least 'woke' or gentrified area you can imagine. There's not much love for Starmer but it just shows how much people of all persuasions are pretty set on getting the Tories out now. I can only see affluent rural constituencies still returning Tory MPs at the GE.
