Who would have thought that experimenting with drugs on confused children was a bad idea
![]() Children have been let down by a lack of research and "remarkably weak" evidence on medical interventions in gender care, a landmark review says. The Cass Review, published on Wednesday by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, calls for gender services for young people to match the standards of other NHS care. She says the "toxicity" of the debate around gender meant professionals were "afraid" to openly discuss their views. NHS England says it has already made significant progress in making changes. The Cass Review, which looked at gender identity services for under-18s, was commissioned by NHS England in 2020 after a sharp rise in the number of patients referred to the NHS who were questioning their gender. It was announced after whistleblowers raised concerns about care at the Gender Identity and Development Service (Gids) - which was the only specialist gender clinic for children and young people in England and Wales. Gids closed last week, four years after it was rated as "inadequate" by inspectors. What does trans mean and what does the law say? Leaked emails reveal child gender service concerns Trans treatment waiting list a ‘death sentence’ Regional hubs have now opened in London and Liverpool in an effort to move away from a single-service model and to tackle long waiting lists, which are currently around four years long. Cass told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that clinicians had been worried about having "no guidance, no evidence, no training". She said "we don't have good evidence" that puberty blockers are safe to use to "arrest puberty", adding that what started out as a clinical trial had been expanded to a wider group of young people before the results of that trial were available. "It is unusual for us to give a potentially life-changing treatment to young people and not know what happens to them in adulthood, and that's been a particular problem that we haven't had the follow-up into adulthood to know what the results of this are," she said. In the weeks leading up to the review's publication, NHS England announced puberty blockers - which Dr Cass defines as hormones that "stop the progress of puberty" - would no longer be routinely prescribed, and should only be given to gender-distressed children as part of clinical trials. Details of these trials are yet to be announced. Clinics overseen by NHS Scotland can continue to prescribe for children puberty blockers. Some private clinics will also continue to do so, with Dr Cass warning families need to be "made aware" of the risks of "unregulated treatment". The Cass Review's conclusions are documented in a 388-page report, which makes 32 recommendations on how gender services for children and young people should operate. It calls for better research into the characteristics of children seeking treatment and to look at outcomes for every young person. In essence, Dr Cass says children have been "let down" by a failure to base gender care on evidence-based research. "The reality is we have no good evidence on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress," she writes. She is clear that children and young adults using the services deserve the highest standards of care and research, which are expected elsewhere in the NHS. Her report adds that representatives from the regional centres should form a national group to oversee ethics, training and to ensure everyone receives "the same high standards of evidence-based care". https://www.bbc.com/news/health-68770641.amp

and one of the key takeaways
She says the "toxicity" of the debate around gender meant professionals were "afraid" to openly discuss their views.

Yep all these people calling everything bar affirmative care "conversion therapy" (which btw is a crass insult to actual conversion therapy on gay people) are responsible for how this happened. Of course all you'll hear is silence on this now I suppose. Thank you to all the whistle blowers and those who put their heads above the parapet though. That's proper bravery.

Also :
In essence, Dr Cass says children have been "let down" by a failure to base gender care on evidence-based research. Evidence actually shows allowing children to go through puberty resolves the gender issues in the huge majority of cases

It is just a shame that people lost their jobs and were called bigots and worse for simply raising a concern, they weren't saying they were right, they were just posing questions around the issue and asking for a discussion....people will look back on this era and wonder how people with reasonable concerns around safeguarding were bullied into silence simply because of the word 'trans'

Of course worse in North America because there is more money to be made
The doctors in gender clinics transition virtually every child who walks through their doors. This isn’t a medical industry. It’s a cult. See short video below https://x.com/BillboardChris/status/1777874999313125490 |

In what other medical setting would you see clinical trials rolled out to the general public..kids were basically used as guinea pigs by the Tavistock Clinic, I expect they will be taken to the cleaners in the years to come by parents who were misinformed

SIR – Liz Truss (Comment, April 11), discussing the Cass report on gender identity, is right to call on the Government to adopt her private member’s Health and Equality Acts (Amendment) Bill, so shamefully filibustered by Labour MPs last month, and pass it into law before the coming general election.
The issues addressed by the report are of the utmost importance, and its conclusions and recommendations have implications beyond its child-protection remit. It has the potential to become the light that leads us out of the oppressive darkness of mob-driven identity politics. I remain determined to vote for Reform UK at the election. Yet this matter is so important that, were the Prime Minister to adopt Ms Truss’s Bill and turn it into law, I would consider supporting the Conservatives again. Adrian Barrett Haywards Heath, West Sussex SIR – It took Dr Hilary Cass four years to produce her review, but she reaches a conclusion that most of us see as blindingly obvious. Martin Bazeley Fareham, Hampshire SIR – I wonder if the treatments and surgeries that have been carried out on children and young adults will, in about 10 years’ time, be found to have caused tremendous mental-health problems for many of them. Will there be, at great expense, an inquiry that finds the organisations responsible to have been negligent? Will the victims receive compensation? David Henderson East Molesey, Surrey |

Standing on the right side of history always feels good. Let's hope these kids get the time and help they truly deserve, rather than left wing knee jerking actions.

The fact that this disgusting woman works for a company who fling out the word "Terfs" just wow
" I know Ava hasn't been honest a day in her life, but pretending to be an Enlightened Centrist on the trans issue since the Cass Report was published is really sickening Those of us who read Hannah Barnes' book, who befriended detransitioners, and who read the studies, were saying that "affirmative care" gives cover to abusers, and leaves comordbidities like depression, suicidality, and autism to go undiagnosed -- with fatal consequences -- for years For Ava to pretend to occupy a middle ground now, when, until two days ago, she was decrying those criticising the Tavistock model as "transphobic", is unconscionable" https://x.com/Con_Tomlinson/status/1778706806010728896 ![]() |

It would be interesting to hear Dr Ramani talk about the cultism behind transitioning little kids. This isn’t medicine. It’s a fraud that’s been allowed to go on (especially in America) for too long. What business has a 7-year-old who hasn’t even gone through puberty waking up tomorrow morning now and saying they want to be a hermaphrodiac computer?

Dr Hilary Cass has decades of experience in her field.
She produced an impartial and independent report that found the NHS has placed trans ideology ahead of safeguarding for Britain’s kids. What do Channel 4 do? They dismiss the report as ‘far right’. Dr Cass has now said she cannot use public transport and fears for her safety. @joelycett and his chums ought to be ashamed of themselves. This is on a MSM UK broadcaster - staggering https://x.com/darrengrimes_/status/1782007240913809523 |

Just to clarify.
I don't know how accurate or not The Cass Report is or isn't, but if it's even remotely accurate, then it should've been told to society sooner imo.

They were shouted down by angry people with an agenda and told to shut up because there were no studies and no evidence... ...so a massive study was done and evidence complied... ......and those same people got very VERY angry about that, too, and are attempting to dismiss it as propaganda. Which was entirely predictable, tbh. When people say "you have no evidence of this!" they generally do not want to actually see any evidence. They want the evidence to not exist. |
