Default Whooping cough outbreak

I've seen a lot of rumbling about this on TikTok etc - I believe it may not just be rumours. Discuss, I guess? Do you or anyone you know have a cough that's been going on for 4+ weeks?

Its quite dangerous for babies/infants. Rarely for older kids or adults but it is very unpleasant.

Okay, thanks for the details.

I might have to be even more anti-social than even usual then.

One thing worth mentioning and why it's good to be aware that this is going on - it presents just like a basic normal cough for the first few weeks, plus, there are antibiotics tackle it but they ONLY work if you get them within the first 21 days of symptoms.

The result is that by the time people realise they don't just have a normal cough, it's too late for the antibiotics to work.

So...if you get a cough I'd say go to the GP and ask them to 1) take a swab and 2) prescribe the antibiotics anyway in the meantime.

It sounds really brutal.

In other news.

Astrazeneca withdraws it's Covid-19 vaccine Worldwide after admitting it causes rare blood clots.

But don't look there, look here instead.

Yes, it's a small minority, but as side effect it's way too dangerous. We have definitely been mislead. We have been told it's safe when it's not?

What does that have to do with a whooping cough outbreak?
