The weird feeling, afterwards!

i cried as i hated the feeling and afterwards could not touch any fabric, as a child I hated the feeling a of velvet and the thought of touching out old velour sofa with cut nails still makes me shudder

Exactly. Too much sensation for a young finger tip. Thats what nails were for. They cushioned the blow.

That and the Doctor trying to use them wooden lolly sticks to see down my throat were 2 things that traumatised me as a wee boy

I remember my brother was in the children's hospital when we were younger he had bumped really bad and I screamed the place down when them jammed a lolly stick in his mouth to check of his throat was closing up lol. I was more traumatised than he was when he was in there...I also couldn't understand why his bed looked like a cot (obviously just the bed guards) I begged my mum to break him out, I thought they were keeping him prisoner

Don't remember the nail cutting thing but I do remember I hated having my hair brushed.

I don't remember getting my nails cut but I loved my mom brushing my hair, she must have been more gentle than me because my daughter hated me brushing hers

My mum was brutal. I wish she was still here now to do it though....she used to give me a face-lift putting my hair up in a ponytail.....I could do with it now

My mum used to line the 4 of us up for worm inspection.

Not as bad as having to drink the medicine though.
