Tbh, the majority of them probably think a dictator is a funny shaped potatoe.

self-oscillating

it's because it has become more and more difficult for people to think for themselves. Having a dictator is the easier option, it involves zero thought

No, they do not want a Parliament They want One Leader in Charge. Also they are happy for the Army to take control. They want to go to work and come home and have No MP's Slowing their lives down |

That's true, it's gotten to be a very militant right or left world. You have to follow all or nothing these days, especially people who post a lot on social media it seems

I wonder what selection of questions were asked to lead to that conclusion. I can't see many people outright admitting to that viewpoint.

Again a link and context would be good here: how concerning this is depends on how the question was phrased. If such a thing as a truly benevolent dictatorship was possible, then it could be a fairly efficient form of government. Such a thing doesn't exist - but if the question was framed as, "if such a thing was possible", then vs. the current democratic system we have I can see why it seems tempting.
The issue with democracy is that you have to believe that a controlling majority (and not even necessarily an overall majority, just the largest group by numbers) will have the best interests of the whole population at heart. We're increasingly discovering that that just isn't the case. Would I rather have a fair, reasonable intelligent dictator in charge of the UK than Tommy Robbo and Katie Hopkins, if I believed that the majority of the population were going to vote them into power? 100% yes, absolutely. And that's without taking the increasing risk of election manipulation via algoritm/propaganda into account - which is only going to get worse with AI. |

More than half of people aged between 13 and 27 said they believe ‘the UK would be a better place if a strong leader was in charge who does not have to bother with parliament and elections,’ according to The Times.
A third agree the country would be better off ‘if the army was in charge’. And almost half think that ‘the entire way our society is organised must be radically changed through revolution’. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world...e4657a971&ei=8 Think they need to step back from Netflix and Social Media and embrace a bit of reality
