So I'm due for breast screening next Wednesday, it's flown by since my last check up. Extremely important. I would say to anyone, if you're invited for any cancer screening whatsoever, don't hesitate. Could be a lifesaver.

It's so important to go to all your screenings, I completely agree.

I still have another year or so till I get invited - wish they did it earlier though. I have just lost one of my best friends to breast cancer, my Nan had it and my mum died of cancer (not breast) and so I would prefer to be able to be tested for everything to put my mind at rest.

@AnnieK Google says...... Yes, you can request a breast screening if you believe you should have one, even if you are not automatically invited; you can contact your GP or your local breast screening service to ask for an appointment.

You can only request it if you have a close family link with breast cancer (has to be mum or sibling - nan is too distant). You can request one if you haven't been invited by the time you are 53 (which is years away for me).

The NHS website says..... When you'll be invited You'll automatically get your first invite for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53. Then you'll be invited every 3 years until you turn 71. If you have not been sent a letter If you have not been invited for breast screening by the time you are 53 and think you should have been, contact your local breast screening service. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast...who-should-go/
