Default NHS England to be Deleted. Around 10,000 staff to be sacked

This is all because they are Duplicating
everything,

https://www.theguardian.com/society/...g-restructures

PM Starmer stated some of this
in Yorkshire

Also stated A.I
can replace an old worker spending a day
on a written project

A. I does the same in 5mins.

A move I'm pleased about.

It's interesting hearing the LibDems saying this is something they'd welcome.
It was from the stated never to be done top down re-organisation of the NHS, which WAS then done by the Cons during the Coalition and supported by the LIBDEMS.

That top down re-organisation caused endless problems in the NHS.
This is a good start and I support this move.

No but as I said on the other thread - they aren't facing the same issues as NHS England. Though it won't be any better under direct control, England's population is simply too big for it to be under one banner, it needs managed regionally across England in smaller chunks of 4 - 6 million population.

A lot of this makes me wonder you know. Slashing individual benefits and now talking about increasing efficiency with AI... I would not be surprised if they really are starting to angle towards some sort of UBI implementation.

BBC News Text :
[Health Secretary Wes Streeting
is preparing to "axe more health quangos",
the Sunday Telegraph reports.
"The abolition of NHS England... is the beginning,
not the end," Mr Streeting writes
in the paper,
adding his team have a focus on
"slashing bloated bureaucracy".]

…I understand that if AI is taking over as you say, sir…?…then human existence will not maintain the livelihoods needed to continue existing…and if there are no humans to create AI then AI will also cease to exist…Arista, you must be able to understand that…

this is not about AI, it's about middle and senior management gone wild. The NHS is a largely patient interaction business, no AI involved. It needs to dump its fixation with wording things so that they make no sense to anyone. They need to provide patients with a focused service that treats patients in a timely, accurate and cost effective manner

Half the time in this country we talk about how our services need to run more independently from government, be less centralised etc because we don't trust politicians to be in charge of them. Then the rest of the time we rail against quangoes and say that government needs more direct control. Wish we'd make our mind up on what the best way to run our services is and we'd save all this money wasted by constantly chopping and changing approach

…one of the things with how government run organisations work/have always worked is in setting budgets in different departments and there being no crossover with those…I know when schools became part of academies, their separated budgets became one large one so that the whole budget and all other outside help and funding became ‘released’ as it were and became available for spending where needed and applied where needed etc…it really does work so much better in terms of school funding and maybe should also be applied….

any organization can end up badly run, and it becomes more and more likely, the larger it is. I don't trust the government to get it right, but the NHS is barely fit for purpose at the moment

NHS management at the middle level is bloated, yes. And one of the worst parts of it is that a lot of the middle-managers have come up via non-clinical routes (i.e. they have never worked as a doctor, nurse or other health professional in their whole career) which is a mess. They're managing services because they have "management experience" - not ANY experience of actual healthcare.

It's a tough one with healthcare but my opinion ties in with the above; it needs to lie within the healthcare professional ecosystem. It needs to be run by people who have had long, successful careers IN healthcare and understand the actual landscape and challenges. Not career-managers, and not career-politics.

On balance I'd rather it be more centralised than the opposite (increased privatisation) but a huge govt. department is not the way - it's going to end up with exactly thee same issues all over again. People crunching numbers who don't actually fully understand the numbers they're seeing or the reasons for them, and who think that shifting columns around on a spreadsheet can fix an under-performing or bloated-budget service.
