Default Are we ready for USA Liberation Day 9pm 2nd April 2025

Looks like it will be tiers of tarriffs, and countries wait with bated breath to see what band they will fall into, its like Council Tax

I'd meant to ask at some point, but has anyone heard of this?. I'd read somewhere that supposedly it's becoming a bit of thing offline where people are just going to stop buying anything American made in the UK... I've only heard it in one place, though.

I did hear some people on a phone in radio show this morning saying as the government are going to sit on their hands, the only thing people can do is stop buying American products, cant see it happening though, we love Amazon and Maccy Ds too much

Very little off Amazon will be coming from the US and (I would certainly hope) nothing at all from Maccies.

Bye bye Miss American pie.
Bought my bevvy and my leccie
From a man in Rome.
Those good old toys, I got from a man in Dubia.

Singing, this'll be the way, til Trumps gone.
Oh.

there will be thresholds of concern. Those that don't do much business with america will just pass the cost on to consumers. Those that do big business will apply reciprocal tariffs. It will likely lead to a world wide recession, and we basically have to accept it

You can keep McD

I do think it's at least possible it becomes a sentiment that sticks around. I think it's a perfectly normal reaction to listening to a world leader talk sh** about your own country. I mean, sure, we don't tend to be very fond of our own politicians... because it's still your govt...

We've self-liberated from the rage. Nobody is talking politics. The reactionary energy to everything Trump or anyone else for that matter (including Democrats) has diminished...

What I have noticed is the anger or reactions seem more localized (local politics). Local news and politicians seem to have caught onto this also. Some cities or areas have a history of being loud and outspoken about national politics though, and that's more cultural I think than political (not just "muh liberalism"). Some people still want to hang onto that and I think that's fine... we've never really had that here even though it's claimed Houston is very liberal...

It's entirely possible other countries start utilizing tarrifs more also, especially if they see they're effective in certain cases. China would certainly be a top recipient of them...
