Default How-many attempts did it take you to pass your theory?

Breeze through it first time around or did it take you seven attempts?

Didn't have a theory when I took my test (thankfully).

The examiner just asked a few questions at the end. I was told that if you are asked motorway questions you've passed.....my examiner asked me a question about cats eyes on the motorway so I was buzzing.....then told me I had failed

Wasn't quite so rocky on my second test and passed that one

Interesting

True no theory test back in the day- just a few random questions that HAD to be answered correctly ..

I passed first time but my experience was the opposite to yours !

I was told to put the car in the opposite position/direction and I knew that meant doing a 3 point turn !!

Anyways I was driving my instructor’s HUGE car .. something like a Vauxhall Victor with a huge bonnet and it was a very narrow street .
I took my time and did it in FIVE turns and immediately presumed that I had failed … and relaxed only to be told that I had passed afterwards !

Oh and I had a practice lesson immediately before the test and reversed into a side street and drove into some bins !!

My instructor was a huge guy who chain smoked all through my lessons

Passed at 18 took two attempts was very nervous on both tests
First test , was around Henley regatta in Henley so the roads were packed with cars

After the test the instructor said can I give you some advice, I said yes
He said you should change your driving attitude

I was thinking what the fcuk I’m a nervous wreck not some who thinks they own the road

My instructor drank at the local social club we used

To be honest, my second test was similar. I made a really silly error turning a corner in the first 5 minutes and over-steered, thought I'd blown it again and relaxed.

Got through the rest of the test without putting another foot wrong and passed.

My instructor smoked too....we just to stop halfway through my lessons for a fag break.

Same. Although definitely was lucky on my practical. I got 16 minors but as my instructor said, “a pass is a pass”.

As I recall Bots failed his first test by using the wrong hand-signals out of the window?

i passed first time, but at that time we did need to know hand signals. Does anyone remember when cars used to display AA or RAC metal badges on a bar at the front and the AA guys on motorbikes used to salute you as you passed by..... Simpler times

I passed my theory on my 1st attempt. I remember doing really well on the questions but not so good on the hazard perception.

My practical test I passed on my 3rd attempt with 4 minors.

The limit for minor is 16 so I was very very lucky

4. I have a hard time revising literally anything and would always get really flustered doing tests and flop. Got there in the end though. The hazard perception was always the easy bit for me.

I was more than ready to do my actual test before I’d even attempted my theory so for a good few weeks it was just a waiting game trying to pass the theory. Really frustrating.

A lot of people are like that. There’s more fun in driving than in doing the theory.
