Default Kellogg’s UK unveils new Hot Honey flavoured cereal

Quote:

Kellogg’s UK has announced the launch of a limited-edition Crunchy Nut Hot Honey Crunchies flavour, which includes honey-coated cereal with chilli.

The product will hit be shelves in January in all major UK supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons.

Online consumer demand for spicy and sweet products has increased on social media, with hot honey gaining popularity among Brits, according to the company.

Freya Knight, marketing manager for Crunchy Nut, said: “Crunchy Nut has always been about making breakfast more exciting, and Hot Honey takes it up a notch. Sweet meets spicy is a flavour combo that’s on the rise, so why not go bold at breakfast too?

“As one of the UK’s first swicy breakfast cereals, Hot Honey Crunchies deliver a gentle kick of heat balanced with the golden honey flavour fans already adore. Cereal lovers are going to go wild for it.”

The blend is made of sweet and spicy flavours to meet consumer demand for unexpected flavours and snacks.

The new product will be on sale at supermarket retailers for £3.50, which can be consumed as part of breakfast, snacking and weekend treats.

Sugar and carbs ….probably the worst way to break your fast ( breakfast) .

For one thing you will be chasing carbs for the rest of the day from that moment onwards !!

Interesting side-note :::

The idea that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was largely a successful marketing campaign started by Kellogg's in the early 20th century to sell more cereal and save the company from going bankrupt

Then turning it into a widely accepted belief, even though there's no definitive scientific proof it's inherently more crucial than other meals, with some research suggesting daily meal timing and overall diet quality matter more.

Origins of the slogan

Kellogg's Campaign: Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, a health advocate, used this slogan in 1917 to promote his cornflakes, linking his products to health and productivity.
Marketing Success: The campaign was incredibly effective, making people feel guilty for skipping breakfast and embedding it as a cultural norm, shifting diets from bacon and eggs to cereal.

I don't mind hot honey as a flavour on some things - like chicken wings or stir fry - but it's being shoehorned into everything now. They even did hot honey jaffa cakes recently. It's also on too many pizza toppings

Yeah, I had this rant a while ago with my OH when at the supermarket. Sometimes you just want a basic topping pizza, but so many now have sidelined them to have these ‘trendy’ toppings like hot honey, nduja etc.
