Anyone else just see the HMs talking about eggs?
Sorry if I am the dumbest person ever but I had no idea that the eggs we eat wouldn't grow into chicks if we hadn't eaten them. ![]() Am I the only person that didn't know that? |

They need to be fertilized.

The eggs you buy from the supermarket are not fertilised therefore will not hatch into an chick. It's something like that anyway.

This is not as daft as it sounds, as there have been rare cases where fertilised eggs did slip through, and were successfully hatched.

Most of our eggs tend to come from caged birds, who have never been near a cockerel, so the eggs will not be fertilised. There is no chicken in the egg.
In order for the eggs to be capable of bringing forth a chicken, then the hen will have to be mated with the cockerel before any egg is laid. For the record I got a CSE Grade one in environmental science which had a heavy element of farming. |
