There has been no 'official' response from Admin. to my comments (above). Is this because:

(a) They don't know what to say

(b) They need to have a committee meeting about it

(c) I was right - raceism and sexism are tolerated

I'm not just being awkward about this ....... it really does concern me greatly

Well if it concerns you that much, dear, you'd better find a nice cosy forum which actively promotes left-wing doctrine, political correctness and prevents freedom of speech, and allow us to have some fun debating without some self-obsessed lefty making fallacious statements that anyone making a point on sexuality or nationality is a closet sexist, homophobe or racist.

You don't even know me yet you've already accused me of racism and homophobia which I find offensive. How can I make what I believe are innocent points when I'm having to deal with your accusations of bigotry? I'm not on trial, and you are no judge or jury.

Furthermore, I think you're an utter disgrace for suggesting the Admins here are guilty of advocating racism and sexism just to get your own way. If anything you've shown yourself to be quite shallow while exemplifying how daft your political correct principles are.

I cannot speak for other admin, but I'm sorry to say we don't hold committee meetings as you put it. I personally haven't intervened as I don't find Andy's comment to be racially or homophobically motivated.

If this issue concerns you so much, perhaps you should either talk to Andy about it via U2U, or just give up trying to win this battle of words. Your accusations don’t make interesting reading, and we could do without this constant provoking.

I find it somewhat amusing, yet a tad annoying how nearly every thread on TiBB nowadays is turning into a slanging match, and people being accused of things because of a reply which has been taken the wrong way. Other admin and myself will intervene, edit and delete posts and ban members if we feel it is the right thing to do, and is in the boards best welfare.

If you disagree and wish to talk further, please do so via U2U, and not on this thread.

Well Andy, it's a case of 'by their words shall ye know them' I guess - and, if you'd read my post carefully, you would have noticed that I never accused you of homophobia. I did however mention that I had seen it allowed on this board. But having now heard from Mark I can see how that would be the case.

Personally I don't really want to know right wing bigots, so I'll do better than not discuss it with you ..... or your like minded lil chum Mark ..... I just wont be returning to this board - and will widely point out it's lack of impartiality elsewhere, whenever I get the chance.

Then how would that explain the fact an Admin deleted a post believing it to be homophobic? Kind of contradicts your argument really. And you did accuse me of homophobia in another thread forcing me to make a reply.

I feel that p2pnut has decided that we are actually rotten people before even taking the time to get to know us. I for one as does Hells work with very vulnerable young people of every race and creed irrsepective of sexuality so as you can imagine we work in a very PC charged environment. I have always found the posters and staff here at TIIBB to be wonderful. I can come here for a laugh without worrying that I have used the new buzz word, without worrying that my opinion will be jumped on and knowing full well that I am going to be greeted by people that I am pretty proud to say are my mates so if that makes this a bad place to post then hey sue me I am a bad person.

Judging by the number of your posts you have obviously been around this board for quite some time ..... so I can understand that you are supportive of "your peeps". I may be relatively new here but I have spent many years as an IRC 'op' on a live music chat channel that attracts many thousands (similar role to Mods/Admin elsewhere) and understand the sense of community that exists. For that reason my remarks were aimed at the specific poster (not at the community)

Can I clear up a couple of points. I came here originally for the fun and laughs (I hope that the vast majority of my posts bear that out).

However, I am not prepared to just stand by and allow obviously inflamatory racist remarks (such as Andy_JK's - in the example originally quoted above) go by without comment. There has been more than enough death and destruction in the Middle East of late, without thoughtless comments adding to the distress of those who have suffered (on all sides).

I waited in vain for a comment from those who run this site - if only some palliative designed to take the heat out of the situation. This would be normal practice on any of the other boards/chatrooms that I subscribe to - all of which have stated rules against racism, sexism etc. For that reason my 2nd gripe was with Admin (again - not the community)

You have seen the ensuing attack on me by Mark (for 'daring' to challenge the propriety of his rule???? - whatever). A community only works when all it's members feel a sense of belonging and 'ownership' (not just the Admin's mates)

I would add that I am pleased that you and Hells work in 'the people trade''. I started in psychiatric nursing in 1964, moved into psychiatric rehab work in 68, specialised in supporting disturbed adolescents until the mid 70's when I changed tack to work with people with learning difficulties. I ended up developing and managing a range of 'care in the community' day services, covering the SE (incl parts of London). So keep up the good work - it may not always receive the support and understanding due to it, but it is well worth the effort.

Believe it or not, I also have problems with the overly 'PC' bunch - it's just that I am able to separate out overt racism from mildly annoying PC dogma.

You are such a touchy lil bunny aren't you? Talking 'bans' in your first ever exchange with me. Someone with that sensitive attitude sure as hell wouldn't last 10 minutes as an op/mod on any channel that they didn't control ....... ever heard of engaging people in constructive debate and (if necessary) giving them a warning? (Those of us with more experience usually take the 'offender' aside for a little chat in a PM - rather than do it in public)

By the way, whilst I am not personally checking out this site I do get to hear what goes on ......... there is an even wider (and friendlier) community outside TIBB.
