The initial reason I made this thread was to point out that Coolio was not fantasizing about being in the "hood". He was in it. He talked about having bullets fly past his head. He's not making it up. No where did I say that he was still in it. I was merely pointing out that he is not lying to create this tough image for himself. He hung out with the Crips, stole, was involved in gun fights, etc. Is he dangerous now? Of course not... well, I hope not. He is not creating some alter-ego though. He is the real deal.

You're right, not everyone from Compton is in a gang (I think I've already pointed out that my statement was a generalisation in order to make a point) but for a young man growing up in Compton - as Coolio did - it very likely that he'd been involved in gangs.

So you say to Linda 'You know nothing about Compton' in response to her saying not everybody in Compton is in a gang, yet when Girth says it, he is merely repeating your point? Which side do you lie on here? We know Coolio was a gangster, but your view on the good people of Compton is a bit strange. You also know nothing about it, bud.

I'd advise you change your thread title to "Coolio did grow up in an environment filled with gangs", then maybe your point would be clearer.

The title of this thread (including the use of the caps on the word "is") is misleading as it infers that you think he is currently involved with gangs, yet you contradict this with your last post.

It's hardly surprising people are challenging your posts.
