I didn't know where to post this, it's a kinda debate but it's not a serious one..?
A new skyscraper has been planned and work has begun on it on Friday. Once built The Shard will be the biggest skyscraper in Europe and the second biggest in the world being an impressive 1017ft high. It is one of several that have been planned. But what i was thinking is, Is It Worth It? What Is The Point? But saying that i don't mean i hate the idea of it, infact i would love London to have the second biggest skyscraper in the world, but what do you think?! Please discuss and share your views! Do you like The Shard? Last edited by Loukas; 06-07-2012 at 02:13 AM. |

Pointless waste of money. It's practical to a certain extent, but not to justify the spending.

I dont think there is a point really? Unless its going to be used for something remotley useful.. Other than that it does look quite nice i suppose! But for some reason REALLY tall buildings scare me haha

I remember reading about this ages ago when it was still in its conceptual stages. Interesting that they've began construction. It hasn't changed much from the designs I saw. I think it's hideous and looks so out of place on the London skyline.

I guess the revenue they get from it being a hotel or renting out the office blocks could... in the long term... pay it off.

It looks cool. Although it is a funny shape.
But it can be nowhere near as weird as the Gherkin. |
