Default Why has BB UK fallen apart? Can it make a comeback??

I was reading on my other thread about BB around the world.
And Alot Of you said "BB UK has fallen apart now..."

I agree that it has changed alot sense and BB7 Was the last good one..BB9 was good for housemates though

But who or what do you think caused our Big Brother to become a failure?
Everyone has forgotten about it now, some of its biggest fans from years ago have forgotten of BBs Excistance!

Sad Really... Anyway heres why I think its a failure now..

I know shes dead but im still not gona change my views on her... Jade Goody ruined Big Brother for everyone.
I know she was a big HM in BB3 (I never watched it though)
But In Celeb BB She wrecked Big Bro and lost in alot of viewers and its stayed like that Because... Big Brother are scared to show certain things...Live has been caught not only because of the money but because incase somthing big happens in a row... Its all over what happened with the Shilpa stuff.

Can Big Brother UK ever get back to the old days of BB6/7??

Everything has a lifespan, BB's just become a tired format. Rest it for a few years and bring it back, Public Interest will possibly be higher then otherwise people have just had enough of BB altogether.

The controversy over the CBB with Jade and Shilpa in and the bad start to BB8 I think made people lose interest.

BB7- whilst hugely successful at the time, it murdered BBUK for the masses. It made them creatively bankrupt and any twist we get now is pretty much a rehash of something that has already happened. Then the complaints. Then they wanted to give us more, they tried by bringing Jade back, and more controversy. People got sick of BB. They tried to reinvent it for BB8, it failed, they lost viewers. They took advice for BB9, it was good and received well critically ... too little too late, only the core fan base watching at this point.

It has a future as a cult show, but not as a huge media event unless it is rested for a few years and the power of nostalgia works its magic

I think BB will always exist in some form though, but obviously not under the BB name

Its mainly a natural progression. Its not a novelty concept anymore, so it will lose viewers, and not get as many new ones.
The best they can do, is hope to maintain it, at its current popularity. They can never increase it, thats just impossible.
But the way they have been treating it this year, its guaranteed to have a decline in viewers!

BB7 allowed too much contact with the outside world ("Get Grace Out" chants, Jayne blabbing to Nikki), ran 3 weeks too long and lost credibility when Nikki was allowed back in with a chance to win.

Then Jade/Shilpa scared C4 into their current poistion of dreading the media reaction but needing the ratings from the HL show. Cue sanitised, over-packaged, soap-opera BB.

Reality shows are a hybrid of soap operas and game shows. That's the nature of these programs. If their debut season is big they get huge numbers, gather a loyal following, go on for a million seasons, and interest declines and stabilizes.

And honestly, how many primetime TV shows go on for 10 years? Not many. I think the biggest mistake a seasoned reality show can make is not listening to their loyal fans enough, and that's the general mistake they've made the past two seasons. If they keep making it, they will be canceled soon. They need a major reinvention this summer.

i think that its decline came when big bro became that housemates mates rather than a figure of authority. Also the housemates being a little more pampered each year, (it almost feels that HMs are not earning there stay in the house these days). jades return to the house unfortunaly didnt help the show because channel 4 got spooked and now are over selective of what is aired.

the housemates themselfs talking about what mag or tv deal they would like, or are likely to get when the get out can be a big put off for viewers. (i know people are going to talk about this but big bro should inforce the rules that this is a no-no, and if its not a rule make it one)

and finaly i found that when the media like the newspapers really hatted the show, to the point where they tried to ruin the events with flyers and what not big bro did really well, but when they started getting the media more involed to the point where they were invited to view the house before the show started so they could take pic (which ultimatly lead to channel 4 releasing pics of the diary room chair before the papers do) the show became alot less popular

(sorry about the long post had alot on my chest)

The downfall of Big Brother was BB7
That was the point in became a very different show to earlier series, it used loads of twists and I think fans felt let down by controversies of the whole golden ticket twist and Nikki going back in
At the time BB7 was brilliant but in the long term its not been so good for the show
Also the race row and all female launch of BB8 would have also let some fans down. So before the second day of BB8 it was obvious fans had been lost and it the series wouldn't be so good as most ideas had already been used

BB has fallen apart because Channel 4 has lost its balls, and because it got greedy, simple as that.

The producers lost confidence in what they were doing, especially in BB8 when they became scared of the format and the prospect we might vote out people such as Charlie, and hence more than once saved her skin - even though anybody who has watched BB for any amount of time knows the eviction of a big character often helps the show far more than it hinders it as it moves the story on.

They did regain some confidence last year, but are simply lacking the support of C4. For it to have any chance of success they need to be shouting THIS IS WHAT WE DO, and aiming to do it well - but the last couple of years it's felt like C4 have aired the show and hoped nobody noticed. And to a certain extent, nobody did notice.

Housemates expect the unexpected, aren't phased by whats given to them, too careful of what they do and what they say.

Big Brother has also sort of just become "That Show" It needs to take a rest for a while, and come back for a new generation to get a new group of housemates who will have probably only breifly seen the show as kids and it will become cult for the rest of us.

I think the race row between Jade and Shlipa is to blame for the deterioration of the popularity of BB:UK
