The powers that be at Big Brother have given us our first look at this years house, the place where our eyes will be glued for the entire summer, and boy is it nice. The house has had a complete stylistic makeover this year, with everything from bathrooms to bedrooms and loungers to lampshades being revamped.
This is sure to please fans who complained about C5's apparent lack of decoration for the past few series, which saw 2 celebrity series share a house with a 'normal' edition of the show. In fact some fans wondered if we would ever see a new house again, with some claiming the iconic complex had become a 'glitzy tv set'.
Not this year. It seems C5 were keen to bring back the homely feel to TV house, revealing a more airy, liveable area than ever when pictures were released this week on the official Facebook page. The new house shares looks with the American version of the show, where contestants live in a luxurious house.
The whole are has been opened up even more than usual, with some sources claiming it is the 'biggest house yet'. That should certainly help with the 'olympic' feel the broadcaster is going for this year. In the lounge there is a distinct 80's feel, with fuzzy brown walls and a faux bookshelf surrounding the rather comfy looking sofas, which have been modelled on an LA-style lounge.
But before the housemates even get there they will have to take the daunting walk down a set of light up stairs - passing the newly glittered-out Diary Room door.
Once in the house, Housemates will have access to a state-of-the-art bespoke kitchen, complete with a full dining table, ensuring housemates will have to eat together.
The bathroom has been refitted with a glamourous gold theme, including a huge shower which I'm sure Channel 5 will make great use of to get some gratuitous 'butt-shots'. Also revamped is the bedroom, which has been given a 'sexy' can-can theme. Beds have been fitted in fluffy covers and the walls have been plastered with pictures of sexy burlesque ladys. All of this, at least according to the Daily Star, will make our new guest want to have lots of sex. We'll see.
But the biggest change is to the garden, which has been fitted with a jacuzzi alongside the huge pool, which will hopefully see more use in the summer months. A new set if sofas has also been added, alongside an outside dining table and an alien-like smoking area.
With the new series due to launch in less than 2 weeks, it will be very interesting to see what our new set of housemates make of their revamped surroundings. But for now one thing is clear, Big Brother is back where he belongs in the summer months, and he means business. Look out Olympics, 'The Bruv' is coming for your viewers.
