The White Room Task (and this weeks shopping task)
31 Jul, 2012 - 5:09 PM by Mrluvaluva

Today sees the start of a four day house ‘divide’, The White Room.

The four housemates with the fewest nominations (Conor, Luke S, Sara and Scott) this week, have one minute to decide amongst themselves which three housemates will be sent to The White Room to play for a money can’t buy prize.

Once in The White Room all Housemates will discover that the last remaining Housemate in The White Room will win a pass to the final.

Today, Housemates in The White Room will play three games. Housemates in the Main House will then have to play exactly the same tasks later today and beat the White Room’s results in order to win the shopping budget.

Game one: Space Race

This is a physical game in which one Housemate wears a suit with elasticated bungees that connect their joints making it very difficult to move and stretch. The aim is to fill a tube up with as much milk as possible but the clock is ticking. The Housemate is told that the quicker they fill up the tube, the greater their reward will be.

Game Two: The White Form

This task will pull six pieces of trivia from the questionnaires housemates filled in before they entered the House – and a White Room rep will have to attribute them to the correct person.

Game Three: Hammer Slammer

A grey matt outlines the game area that a Housemate will be standing in to play ‘Hammer Slammer’.

36 white cups are stuck upside down onto a raised table. Inside 10 of these cups are balls filled with blue paint. The Housemates know where these are as they have seen a graphic on the plasma screen that shows them which cups the paint balls are hiding in. However, they only see this for 30 seconds before the screen disappears. This is a memory game.

The Housemate has 1 minute to hit 26 of the cups, leaving 10 standing. Housemates are not allowed to confer. If they hit any of the cups containing the blue paint they will incur a fail. Housemates are told that their efforts will be considered at the end of the task.

Big Brother called our remaining nine housemates to the living room to fill them in on why exactly there is a big white building in the garden.

Sara hopes the prize is a party. She clearly wasn't listening to the money can't buy part.

Once inside The White Room, they will be told what the prize is.

Conor, Luke S and Sara enter The White Room and find out what they are fighting for.

Youtube video

Our trio of intrepid White Room task challengers entered their new home and were told they were playing for a pass to the final.

Only one can win immunity and that one will be the last to remain in the White Room.

Big Brother filled them in on a few more rules; they will only be allowed out of the White Room to shower and for fresh air breaks. No other colours but white are allowed, which means white clothes and white food.

The only exception to the rule is three red buttons – one for each housemate – placed on podiums. Pressing these buttons will permanently release them from the room.

They will undertake three challenges today.

Sara's first concern? "How am I supposed to take my make up off tonight?" This girl certainly has some interesting priorities.

She's already being defeatist, saying: "It will be between you two. There's no point in me even being here. You two are going to battle this out." She does have a point – the stench of testosterone in The White Room must be stifling.

Sara changed her mind when she saw her new white clothes pile, which included lots of "lovely bras."

Back in the House, the remaining six were confident Luke S would win.

"I might not see him for the rest of this," said Ashleigh. Will their love survive a long distance relationship?

Sara, Conor and Luke S are awaiting the first part of the task. It's all getting a bit tense in the White Room.

Guess who put himself forward for the first task in The White Room! That’s right, arguably our most competitive housemate, Luke S.

Conor read out the rules which stated that there would be three challenges today, one for each White Room resident. The first, Space Race, would be a test of movement and co-ordination.

Luke S was told he had to pour the contents of several bottles of milk into a large tube. The more successful he was, the greater the reward would be.

Dressed in a shiny white leotard and tethered by bungee cords, Luke S threw himself into the task, whooping and pouting and perfecting a crab-type movement to maximise efficiency.

Youtube video

Conor laughed hysterically and Luke S moved too fast for Sara to think of any words of encouragement.

He seems pretty pleased by his performance. We are still waiting to hear if Big Brother concurs.

Big Brother throws in a twist in the form of a brand new White Room. Housemates Luke S, Conor and Sara are the new residents. But how do their housemates feel about it? Will Ashleigh ever see Luke S again?

They've barely had time to cal(ciu)m down after Luke S's first milky task when it was time for Sara, Luke S and Conor to elect a person to field the second White Room challenge. The White Form task pulled six pieces of trivia from the questionnaires housemates filled in before they entered the House – and a White Room rep had to attribute them to the correct person.

Luke S had recently had his moment so it was down to Conor and Sara to decide who is the most aware of others.

"I'm a good judge of character," said Sara. There was a lengthy pause.

"Naaaaaaah," said Conor, stringing out the vowel as if his life depended on it, "You think everyone's your best mate."

Conor clearly sees himself as more worldly than that, "I'll go... I have a feeling about people," he said. We haven’t noticed this talent.

After a little more to-ing and fro-ing a doubtful Sara assured Conor that he was the right choice and he took his seat.

These were the six questions.

1. Who said that they want to meet a nice bird in the House and shack up with her?

2. Who said that they're a white tiger because they're sexy and a beast?

3. Who has been expelled from four schools?

4. Who said, 'Guys want to be me, girls want to be with me'?

5. Who thinks he looks like Friends actor, Matt Le Blanc?

6. Whose party trick is stripping?

After a long day in The White Room, another test for our impounded housemates.

The third task for our isolated pals was Sara's for the taking. The Hammer Slammer required her to use her memory to maximum effect. In front of her were 36 cups – all of them white, naturally – and she had to bust up 26 with her mallet and leave ten of them standing.

The remaining ten would be the ones containing blue paint, if Sara did her job properly. She was given a heads up as to how the paint-filled cups were distributed on a plasma screen. A thirty second shot was all she got, and then it was all down to her hammer-arm.

Sara wasn't allowed to confer and, as yet, the poor girl has no idea how she's done.

Luke A has news from Big Bro. They have to put forward three people to perform the same tasks as LukeS, Sara and Conor.

If they outperform the #bbwhiteroom team, they win a luxury shopping budget.

Deana takes on the Space Race in the Living Area. She's all kitted out in a tight blue outfit and harness.

She completed the Space Race in 1m37s. Her team are confident. The winner of the task will be revealed later.

The second question has prompted an amusing *headpalm* response from a member of the #bbhouseteam.

Ashleigh's not doing badly. She knows her boyfriend at any rate.

Ash's time in the hot-seat is now over. Who's triumped, her or Conor? All will be revealed with the passing of time.

Despite not even being in the White room for a full day Sara has already had enough, and contemplating pressing the buzzer to get her out of there.

Youtube video

The isolation chamber we're calling The White Room is bound to be a strange environment.

Some survive by trying to stay pensive and still – a tactic Luke S has employed since he was unceremoniously shunted into the blank cabin earlier today. Some might get through the experience by jumping into 'happy' mode. Conor's been in that frame of mind for the entire afternoon and evening, laughing and joking, but to be honest that may be more down to the fact that he's not sharing the same four walls as Luke A, Adam and Deana. It's hard to say.

Sara, on the other hand, isn't coping so well. A curious episode occurred this evening where Sara joined in a rambling conversation with the boys and asked what the time was so many times, Big Brother might want to do the right thing and chuck in, at the very least, a sun-dial. Except there's no natural light in there so scratch that.

Luke S discussed, in some depth, whether he and Ashleigh would stick together beyond Big Brother.

"I wonder what time it is," said Sara.

The subject turned to romantic holidays the three have been on – a conversation that was interrupted by Big Brother who telephoned in one of his occasional calls.

"Ask them what time it is!" Sara cried as Conor took the call.

After it was over, talk turned to property deals and how much money could be made from owning a chain of chip shops. Suddenly, entrepreneur Luke S came up with an amazing business brainwave.

"Drive-thru chippies!" he roared, as though this was the defining 'Eureka' moment that would make him his fortune.

"Big Brother – what's the TIME?" screamed Sara, like she'd like to be anywhere, anywhere at all – so long as it wasn't The White Room.

The winners of the shopping task are revealed, and the White room find out they were competing against the other housemates for the shopping budget.

Youtube video

As any diligent Big Brother fan is aware, games have been afoot in the House tonight. White Room residents Luke S, Conor and Sara were put through their paces for the 'Space Race', 'The White Form' and 'Hammer Slammer'.

Then, unbeknownst to the pale three, their pals back in the House were made to perform the very same tasks with the carrot of a luxury shopping budget hanging in the balance.

If the White Team won they would be rewarded while the losing housemates would be saddled with an economy shopping budget – still not too meagre considering there are only six mouths to feed at this late stage in the game.

Anyway, you want us to cut to the chase. We respect your wishes and will abide by them. A little after Deana, Ashleigh and Adam had performed in the tasks, Big Bro called the housemates to the sofas and the White Room residents to the end of their beds for the reveal.

It was a nail-biting finish. Luke S completed the 'Space Race' task 27 seconds faster than Deana but Ashleigh answered three questions correctly, meaning she was finished ahead of Conor in ‘The White Form’ task. It all rested on Sara vs Adam in the 'Hammer Slammer' task...

Sara did it! In your face, Adam.

As a result the housemates are dining a l'economie while, in the White Room, they're chowing down on their white rewards: fish pie followed by a creamy dessert.

TASK: THE WHITE ROOM – DAY 2 – MUSICAL CHARADES

Housemates in the main house will be played a song and must dance along to and act out the song’s lyrics, style, tempo and emotion. Housemates in the White Room will be watching on their plasma screen and must guess which song is being played into the House.

If the White Room Housemates correctly identify more than half of the songs, then they will win a prize later tonight.

However, if they fail to guess at least half of the songs correctly, then they will receive a punishment later on tonight.

Yesterday, The White Room housemates - Sara, Conor and Luke S, were told that whoever sticks in out in the overbearingly bright room the longest will be guaranteed a place in the final.

However, for one person, this chance will end - today.

The purposefully placed podiums will become active later this afternoon, after which they will be given three minutes to decide between themselves who will press their red button and be eliminated from The White Room.

If none of the Housemates voluntarily press their red button at the end of the three minutes, then Big Brother will ask them to make a majority decision as to who should go. Therefore, at least two of the housemates must be in agreement over who should press their red button.

Once a housemate has pressed their red button they'll be eliminated from The White Room, return to the House and lose their opportunity to win a pass to the final.

If the White Room housemates do not come to a majority decision, then the housemates in the Main House will be given one minute to decide who will be eliminated from The White Room task.

Whichever way it’s decided, three will become two today.

As it stands, they all have reasons to leave The White Room. Sara has been missing her possessions, her makeup and products in particular, Conor is annoyed with the food they're forced to eat and Luke S has Ashleigh waiting for him on the outside.

But who will be the first to push their button when the time comes?

She was the weak link from the start, having professed from the outset that she didn't fancy her chances against mighty alphas Luke S and Conor.

Throughout yesterday she moaned and groaned and channelled her frustration by fixating on the time, something that wouldn't move any faster, no matter how hard she thought about it.

Today’s 'Musical Charades' yielded mixed results and her guess of 'Can't Get You Out of My Mind' was not deemed correct (Because it wasn't. Sorry love, you can check with Kylie if you want). This meant it was punishment time and Sara's patience wore as thin as the porridge they were served as a consequence.

"I want to leave this room. I don't want to be here anymore. I want to go home."

Touchingly, by 'home' we think she meant the Big Brother House.

It was inevitable then that when the time, finally, came for one of the housemates to push the button, she gladly took the plunge. Not even the tears of card-carrying cheese ball Luke S could change her mind and she bounced back into the House.

Here she was greeted with love and awe. The housemates gathered round as if she was Scott returning from the Antarctic with tales of giant polar bears to tell. She'd been gone slightly over a day, but time is a different creature in the House, so we'll look kindly on everyone's reactions.

"What was the food like?" was a popular cry, giving Sara the chance to tell horror stories of porridge galore.

Once the initial excitement had died down, Ashleigh asked the burning question on her mind.

"Did he say anything about me?" she asked of her absent boyfriend.

"Just nice stuff," replied Sara.

"Aw," said Ash.

Aw.

Aw?

As a punishment for losing the earlier 'Musical Charades' task, Conor and Luke S, the last men standing in The White Room, were given a cruel and unusual forfeit. You'll never guess.

They had to chop a bucket-load of onions and post them into a tube. The tube had a small hole in its top which meant that in order to fit, the onion pieces had to be particularly small. Oh dear. That's shallot of work for the boys (insert laughter track).

Conor did not handle news of the punishment particularly well, with his early response taking on the form of screaming. Luke S got cracking with a characteristically meticulous approach to the job , it was particularly game of him to dive into the onions considering that his beau has accused him of whiffing of this particular veg.

The lads kept their spirits up with personalised versions of popular songs. '99 White Onions Hanging On The Wall' came out, but our favourite was their take on 'I Am The Music Man’, which included the lyrics:

I am the music man
I come from far away
I can play
I hope we're done in an hour...

And they were. Looks like somebody loves them, after all.

Yesterday, Housemates played a game of musical charades.

• Adam performed “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO – Housemates in the White Room correctly guessed which song that Adam was dancing to.
CORRECTLY GUESSED
• Ashleigh performed “Jump Around” by House of Pain – Sara, Conor and Luke S correctly guessed what Ashleigh was dancing to. CORRECTLY GUESSED
• Becky performed “Crazy In Love” by Beyonce – Sara, Conor and Luke S correctly guessed what Becky was dancing to.
CORRECTLY GUESSED
• Deana performed “Womanizer” by Britney Spears. Sara, Conor and Luke S guessed that it was “Slave for you” by Britney Spears and were therefore incorrect.
INCORRECTLY GUESSED
• Luke A performed “Love Machine” by Girls Aloud. Sara, Conor and Luke S guessed that he was in fact dancing to “Horny”. The White Room housemates were therefore incorrect.
INCORRECTLY GUESSED
• Scott performed “Can’t get you out of my head” by Kylie Minogue. Sara, Conor and Luke S guessed that Scott was dancing to “Out of your mind” and were therefore incorrect.
INCORRECTLY GUESSED

The Housemates in The White Room had to answer more than half correctly and therefore failed this task. As punishment for failing to guess more than half, the White Room Housemates had to start chopping!

White Room Housemates had to chop enough onions to fill a cylinder up to a red line. Onions had to be chopped into small pieces in order to fit into the hole at the top of the cylinder. Housemates had one hour to complete this.

Big Brother has revealed a huge twist for the White Room tomorrow, which could see one of the two remaining housemates in there winning £50,000.

Tomorrow night Big Brother will make Conor and Luke S an offer that “could change their lives forever”.

They will both have the chance to win half of the £100,000 prize money.

However, if they accept, they will be immediately evicted.

The other will take the free pass onto the final on August 13.

It’s currently unclear how the decision will be made, and whether or not one of them will have to take up the offer. It also remains to be seen what the consequences are if neither of them take Big Brother up on their offer.

For now, they remain oblivious to the fact...
