All female housemate line-up for January CBB considered?

9 Oct, 2017 - 7:01 AM by James

It has been reported in the Sun newspaper that Channel 5 are considering making January 2018 Celebrity Big Brother an all-female house. The move would be part of a series of programmes C5 plan to show to mark the 100th anniversary of women getting the right-to-vote.

A source is quoted in the article: “Channel 5 wants to make a real splash as part of their women’s vote celebrations.

“They are keen to cast opinionated women like Germaine Greer over no-mark reality TV girls who look good but have little to say or bring to the conversation.

“Bosses are expecting cat fights galore, plenty of tension and clashing personalities.”

Australian journalist and feminist Germaine Greer previously appeared in Celebrity Big Brother 3 in 2005, but she walked out.

Big Brother 8 in 2007 started with all-female housemates, with the first male housemate, Ziggy, entering the house on day 3.

Big Brother producer Endemol has said it wants to update the Big Brother format in the face of competition from the likes of ITV2's Love Island.

Endemol Shine chief creative officer Peter Salmon is qouted as saying about the show: “Big Brother has got to last. You have to roll your sleeves up and renew it for a different generation.

“It is having a tougher competitive time in the UK but it’s huge around the world.

“Love Island has been sensational. If Big Brother is not on top form, we have to keep changing it.”

Names that have been previously linked with appearing on January 2018's CBB include Louise Thompson, Wayne Rooney’s ‘party girl’ Laura Simpson and 'human Ken Doll' Rodrigo Alves.

CELEBRITY Big Brother might have to change its name, as I can reveal plans for an all-female series.
Producers are on the lookout for the strongest personalities in showbiz, as Channel 5 dedicates a season of programmes to celebrate 100 years since women won the right to vote.

A TV source said: “Channel 5 wants to make a real splash as part of their women’s vote celebrations.

“They are keen to cast opinionated women like GERMAINE GREER over no-mark reality TV girls who look good but have little to say or bring to the conversation.

“Bosses are expecting cat fights galore, plenty of tension and clashing personalities.”

The change, scheduled for January 2018, comes after producer Endemol vowed to refresh the format of the long-running series amid strong competition from rival shows such as ITV2 hit Love Island.

Endemol’s Peter Salmon, the former BBC boss and husband of Happy Valley actress SARAH

LANCASHIRE, said: “Big Brother has got to last. You have to roll your sleeves up and renew it for a different generation.

“It is having a tougher *competitive time in the UK but it’s huge around the world.

“Love Island has been *sensational. If Big Brother is not on top form, we have to keep changing it.”

I’d be surprised if the new series has no men.

After all, the popularity of Love Island was all about romance.

I could actually see this being a bad move for the Show. Something like BB8 (?) worked, because it was different and fresh but this would not I don't think.

The audience has changed since then anyway.

This will be a success if they cast crazies.

I don't think the twist was very popular at all when it happened in BB8, so I don't expect it to be now.

This happening in BB8 was one of many reasons they gave for ratings soon dropping and then killing off the show on Channel 4.....

Although my favourites in CBB are always females and every time I pick an all star cast it is 90% female

They were always going to do that.

That was the point. Seeing a load of women and one stereotypically "attractive" boy.

That’s what I was laughing at, their logic is that Love Islands success is based on romance so let’s do the complete opposite! I mean I’m glad because I HATE CBB showmances, but what do they think a load of thirsty girls are gonna do? Put Mel C in!
