Rugby player Israel Folau has launched another blistering attack on gay and trans people during a sermon at a church in Sydney. The former union star, who was sacked for his inflammatory views, said same-sex marriage was wrong and also criticised young people for being allowed to change gender. The disgraced sports star claimed the devil was behind the moves, which he said are against the teachings of God. He made the remarks in his sermon at The Truth of Jesus Christ Church in Sydney on Sunday. After a backlash in Australia, he remained defiant and on Monday took to Twitter to say people need to please God, rather than man. Folau, 30, told the congregation: ‘This is what the devil is trying to do, to instil into the government, into this world, into society, and it is slowly happening. ‘The sad thing is why a lot of people out there that are non- Christians say bad things about the church, is because a lot of the churches allow those things to happen. ‘They say that a man and a man should be able to be married and there is nothing wrong with it.
