![]() Joel Williams and Glyn Wise Big Brother 16 runner-up Joel Williams has been selected to stand for election to the Cardiff Central seat in the Welsh Assembly elections in May 2016. He will stand in the election for the Welsh Conservatives, while another of the candidates in the same seat is BB7 (2006) runner-up Glyn Wise representing the Welsh Nationalist party Plaid Cymru. These seat is currently held in the Welsh Assembly by the Labour party which narrowly beat the Liberal Democrats in 2011, with the Conservatives in third and Plaid in fourth place. Joel wrote on Twitter: "Absolutely thrilled & delighted to announce I have been selected as the @WelshConserv candidate for Cardiff Central! pic.twitter.com/Pn968YSceM "
Before he was selected Joel said: “Cardiff Central is a constituency that is very interesting. It is in Cardiff, and of course I live in Cardiff. It is a constituency that I would love to represent." About Big Brother: "It is a journey of discovery, and that is something I am very pleased I participated in,” he said. On Cardiff: “Cardiff is a city in need of strong representation. We need scrutiny on our council, the Labour held council need to be held to account for the decision they are taking.” When he was asked about the task of a Conservative candidate overturning Labour in Cardiff Central, he said: “Justin Bieber says ‘never say never’.” He said: “serious campaign based on policies. It would not be based on personalities.” The press reported previously that his Big Brother housemate colleague Nick Henderson joined Joel to help on his campaign. Tweets between Glyn and Joel:
