Yeah. 2010 was massive for EE and you have to take into consideration them picking up a fair few in the build-up to the live episode. It's only within the last two years that they've undone all that.

Also, there were weekly clashes with Emmerdale those years, which slightly depressed those averages. Granted the two clashed before this period but not as often and both soaps performed very well in those years. 2006 represents the beginning of the end for them in terms of ratings.

Tuesday: 6.18
Wednesday (Christmas Day): 5.97
Thursday (Boxing Day): 5.45

Highest Rated: Eastenders
Lowest Rated: Emmerdale - really bad Christmas/Boxing day ratings

Special achievements: Eastenders rightfully gaining their spot back as the most watched soap throughout the Christmas week. Coronation Street may have beaten Eastenders on Christmas Day in the overnight ratings but officially it didn't stand a chance. Next week is going to be very interesting to see if Eastenders will remain on top

Highest Rated: Coronation Street (Eastenders is very close behind)
Lowest Rated: Emmerdale - Although they had a good week

Special achievements: The cancer storyline in coronation street will be coming to an end today and imo it's been played very well and I might cry tonight  . In terms of entertainment Eastenders is definitely the best soap right now, each household has an interesting storyline and there isn't any filler scenes as oppose to last year and the year before. Emmerdale's ratings are also back on the rise.

off topic but i'm so glad they put dancing on ice out of it's misery by axing it. I was just looking at their ratings since the show started and they used to get around the 10m mark each episode and their finales got 11-12million. to think that they are scraping 5 million (not even that) is so embarrassing, talk about fall from grace!

bye DOI you will be missed (literally only used to watch it to see if anyone would fall over and die on national tv)

4 March:

Emmerdale was ahead of EastEnders in Tuesday's ratings (March 4) but both soaps were dented by their latest scheduling clash, overnight figures show.

Emmerdale's hour-long episode, which featured the tragic death of schoolgirl Gemma Andrews, averaged 6.19m (29.8%) from 7pm on ITV and 286k (1.3%) on +1.

Losing out due to Emmerdale's head start, EastEnders attracted 5.56m (25.4%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Sharon wondered whether to report Ronnie's crime to the police.

During the 30-minute clash period itself, Emmerdale was ahead of its BBC rival with 5.95m (27.3%). Later, BBC Three's repeat screening of EastEnders saw a boost with 652k (4.7%) watching at 10.30pm.

Special achievements: So Corrie and Eastenders is back to being neck and neck. Eastenders had a good week, now sitting comfortably on top of "The Voice" in ratings and slaughtering Emmerdale in the clash by almost 1.5 million viewers. It's quite weird seeing Corrie rate at 7million+ because it's constantly been 8 and 9 million, it's time for the weave to be stepped up because the storylines are getting quite ... boring.

i have a note for the redway
eastenders is right to have its own subway.
when ever you say soap
emmerdale enters my head, god heaven and the pope.
i have been been brain washed
because i only used to wact EE and the other 2 i squashed.
but now its the overtake
they slaughter EE now nod your head and shake.
they are not all doom and gloom
they move with the times unlike the Folowers 1980's living room.
you wont ever get me back Eastenders
not even if i was more desperate then the Wonga lenders.
i have made my bed and in it i will sleep
emmerdale is the best because what they sew they reap.
corri is second even if this is a little odd
the 2 i really hate are sean and that todd.
but it is not at all as draining
because in the street the sun is out and its not always raining.
please take heed and take my advice
copy emmerdale formula its booming like the trade in vice.
