Have you been to Robin Hood' Bay?
I have been there once long time ago, and really fallen love with the place.

Looks beautiful, but sadly not. My home town was always more of a dock than anything that idyllic.

Bag Lady is both putting awareness on "bag ladies" (homelessness, segregation, prejudice) and also "baggage" to do with relationships and life. "Pack light" she says, ever-influential meaning of not keeping things on your shoulders and perhaps escapism?
As for Window Seat...
The song 'Window Seat' is about liberating yourself from layers and layers of skin or demons that are a hindrance to your growth or freedom, or evolution. I wanted to do something that said just that, so I started to think about shedding, nudity, taking things off in a very artful way.
— Erykah Badu, on the music video's underyling theme
Erykah is one of the greatest musicians of our times and I suggest everyone give her a listen if you can, she's truly brilliant.

I think an outdoor concert is fun as well.
Some years ago, I had a picnic with my neighbours at Kenwood Park in London. Every summer they have concerts at beside lake.
We checked their programme and picked the day Buena Vista Social Club performed . They were all the way from Havana.

You are truly classical music fan, BB_Eye.
I listened twice, but nothing happened to me.:o (of course this was beautiful music.)
But if I listen to Latin arranged music, Amapola (the first page of the first music) my heart starts beating!

Wagner is never as good if you only hear the bleeding chunks. You have to experience his operas as a whole. It's also worth noting the tenor in the video I posted is not very good :o or at least I'm not that keen on him.
Hehe, excuses aside, it's not for all tastes, even for musicians (which I am not). I mentioned Brahms really liked Mastersingers, but hated everything else Wagner wrote. It's all subjective in the end. ^_^

I found a very old record (1937) sang by a Japanese singer called Noriko Awaya. This was made for dance hall music. The tempo is very fast.
I prefer "Once Upon A Time in America" version.

Regarding opera, I remembered a film called "Pretty Woman".
You might have seen it. A story about romance of a prostitute and a wealthy business man.
There was an opera scene. The girl has seen the opera the first time, she was almost teared. I would not know whether if she was emotional because of the music or story, may be both. (Opera starts around 3:50)

Yeah, I guess in a weird way Pretty Woman is the rom-com equivalent of La Traviata haha. Lucky for Julia Roberts, she lives in more enlightened times where her lifestyle is less of a taboo and gets her happy ending.
That video of the 'Drinking Song' is a really great performance. Placido Domingo is still going strong and is on tour at the moment singing Verdi's Simon Boccanegra.
This lady is my favourite Violetta. She just about beats Maria Callas for me. She doesn't blow you away like Callas, but is far more controlled.
m6EChjmi1vU
And for comparison's sake, here is Callas (also brilliant). You might argue there is more emotion in this performance.

Yeah, she almost seems wasted on a reality show, but at east she won't feel under pressure working with them. There are a good few child prodigies on YouTube. I found this one pretty memorable. It's actually quite a rarely performed piece.

Nice choices, James. I only have Air's first album Moon Safari... great album though. The first couple of minutes of "Radian" sounds a bit like that Byzantine chant I posted earlier, hehe.
The frequent modulations of key in this song made it a little hard to come around to at first for me, but it's a nice little song. More to it than meets the eye... or ear.

It was used in the movie the Royal Tenenbaums if I remember correctly (the soundtrack was better than the movie, lol). My first year as a student was when I was really enamoured of them. They never had much success in their time and critics hated them, but their debut album is credited for influencing David Bowie, Roxy Music, Brian Eno, T. Rex, the Stooges, the Ramones and most alternative rock music later on. Also two of their ex-members, Lou Reed and John Cale went on to have pretty big solo careers.

This song was introduced to Japan in late 1880. Eversince this is one of popular foreign folk (?) songs.

It's nice to learn a thing or two about folk music. I've done a bit of searching or Austrian folk music, which was quite a big infuence on Gustav Mahler. This one is pretty charming. Although, sadly it doesn't do much to debunk the association of Vienna with waltz music.

this is more of a minuet (I think)... actually no, it's another waltz, lol

Have I mentioned Susumu Yokota before. He's one of my favourite Japanese musicians. He seems to use a lot of different styles.

This is the first time I heard of his name!
Purple Rose Minuet, sounds like one of Schumann's piece.
Nevertheless this is beautifully arranged.

It's from Debussy's Suite Bergamasque, I posted a couple of movements from it before, but the quotation/sample in that track is from the Claire de Lune movement which I didn't post. It's Debussy's most well known melody. (I hear it was used in the Twilight movies).

However, I like the way Susumu Yokota spices it up a bit.

Have you ever noticed recently that we could hardly see those pictures at pubs?
Well at least where I go (for meals), they were replaced by any pictures but hunting ones.

I will keep eye on the TV programmes when I have a chance I wish to see this "Le Concert". That part of tune was familiar but I did not it was Tchaikovsky.
All others including lol (nice video, peaceful music), I am afraid they are not familiar for me.
