I just watch the race on iplayer
Not that exciting really.
Well done Petrov getting 3rd
Booooo@F1 DQing both Sauber drivers, hope they win appeal
Perez was great in first race, he made his tyres look like fluffy slippers
Booooo@Barrichello causing collision and taking out Rosberg, he should be DQd for that
They should bring back refuelling for next season. I love the strategy of having everyone on different fuel loads, makes more exciting.
DRS seemed fail and not much improvement on overtaking
They should be able to have a turbo boost of about 10-15 mph and works same way DRS, where only the person behind can use it.
Could end up with cars passing each other back n forth all through the race, and that is good.
Niamh.

It's gonna be wet
Apart from the fact that Red Bull will be the team to beat, the second round of the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship poses as many questions as did the first, two weeks ago in Melbourne.
Will Red Bull get their KERS system working, and how much more advantage will that confer? Will McLaren be able to close the gap on a circuit whose two long straights might penalise the draggier Red Bull RB7? Will Ferrari and Mercedes get closer to the pace than they did during disappointing outings in Australia?
And what of Renault, who showed great race pace ‘Down Under’; Williams, who had such a terrible weekend there; Sauber whose seventh and eighth places were so cruelly taken away because of a small but crucial technological infringement; Lotus and Virgin who both underperformed against their own expectations; or HRT who failed to qualify?
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said earlier this week that he expects Mark Webber will be up there again with championship-leading team mate Sebastian Vettel, and that certain set-up parameters on the Australian’s car may have accounted for his disappointing form at home. "We found a few things on Mark's car, set-up-wise, that certainly wouldn't have helped him, and all those elements have been changed for Malaysia, where we'd expect the two of them to be much closer together. But there was no single issue that we could pinpoint. I think there are elements that weren't right and the difference that we've seen between the drivers during the course of the weekend was bigger than it's ever been and not right, so I'm sure they would've contributed."
While Vettel is understandably quietly confident, Lewis Hamilton believes that McLaren can maintain their position. "I think we can have another good race in Malaysia. Albert Park is a great track, but a circuit like Sepang is where the differences between the cars will start to become clearer.
"I'm really looking forward to using KERS and the DRS too - the rapid change of direction you experience when the car is really in the groove is phenomenal around here, and I think both systems will make the cars look sensational, especially in qualifying.”
McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh believes, however, that Red Bull could be even stronger here. "We don't think Melbourne showed us the best of our competitors' pace,” he says, “so that only makes us more motivated to bring as much performance to the table as possible. On paper, it looks positive: we were pleased that our Melbourne upgrade worked as expected, and the car's performance around the high-speed elements of Albert Park suggests it will be able to cope around Sepang.”
Fernando Alonso has been urging Ferrari to speed through new components, while Mercedes say they are feeling aggressive, despite their Melbourne performance. "We had a tough weekend in Australia but the team has worked hard and we are confident that the car will be running reliably in Malaysia," Nico Rosberg says.
Down the back, as the smallest teams regroup and hope for better fortune than they had in Melbourne, HRT are adamant that their 2011 front wing, which has passed its crash test, will enable them to make a major step forward and to challenge Lotus and Virgin.
Besides the effect of KERS on the long straights, the other technical question surrounds the effect of the DRS rear wing here. On Thursday the governing body confirmed it will only allow it to be activated on the shorter main straight, with the one-second detection zone starting 207m before the final turn, and the activation zone then beginning 5m after the turn.
Then there is the tyre situation. On the smooth surface of Melbourne’s Albert Park two pits stops were the ideal after scare stories that there could be as many as four per driver, while Sauber’s Mexican rookie star Sergio Perez did it on one stop, making a set of soft tyres last an amazing 35 laps.
Pirelli expects teams to choose between three and four stops this weekend, however, as their tyres degrade more dramatically in higher temperatures. The key will once again be maintaining flexibility and being willing to modify tactics.
Pirelli will again bring their hard and soft rubber, but will also give each driver two extra sets of a revised hard compound. "We never believe in standing still at Pirelli,” motorsport manager Paul Hembery says, “which is why the teams will have two extra sets of slick tyres available to them during Friday's free practice sessions for evaluation purposes."
The weather can be unpredictable in Sepang, however, and showers are expected on Thursday and Friday, with thunderstorms possible in the region on Saturday and Sunday.

Yup, I reckon next race Mclaren on pole or at the very least closer to Red Bull, I expect Merc to finish ahead of the Ferrari's next race too. Nice race today though lots of overtaking
What happened with Alonso and Hamilton.. Did Alonso get in to close behind him?

Yeah towards the end Lewis' tyres were gone completely and Alonso's were fresher, lewsi went in 2 directions to defend his line, they went around a corner, Alonso had more traction and tried to pull out to avoid clipping him but couldnt....both got 20 second penalties after the race, Alonso remained in 6th, Lewis down to 8th... from what could have been one of the best races in his career it turned out horrible....

Lewis Hamilton has given his strongest indication that his future may lie away from McLaren if they cannot provide him with a car capable of carrying him to another world title.
Hamilton's comments come after McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh's admission he is eager to sign him for a further three years beyond his current deal, which expires at the end of next season.
But, speaking ahead of Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, the 2008 champion insisted he will only think about committing his future to the team with which he has spent his entire career if they can provide him with a machine which can deliver further glory.
Asked whether he could envisage seeing out the rest of his days in Formula One at McLaren, Hamilton replied: 'I don't really envisage anything except winning world championships. I have only got a short period in Formula One. I am fortunate enough to be in a top team where I am comfortable but I want to win championships.'
McLaren's last constructors' championship came in 1998. Asked if loyalty has limits, Hamilton replied: 'It definitely does. I have always enjoyed racing here and would like to continue but you also, at the end of the year, have to assess what position you are in and what happened.'
Leading the way: Vettel is on course to win a second world title after cruising to victory in Melbourne and Sepang
While Hamilton is keeping his options open, team-mate Jenson Button would be pleased to see out his career with McLaren, even if he was none the wiser about Whitmarsh's assertion that he too could be offered a three-year extension to his deal, which also expires after the 2012 season.
Button said: 'It is lovely to hear but he hasn't spoken to me about that! At the moment I cannot see myself racing for another team.'
Should either driver be tempted by a move to Red Bull, however, Mark Webber was keen to point out he has no intention of giving up his seat with the all-conquering team.
Making his Mark: Webber didn't take kindly to being referred to as a backup driver at Red Bull
Angered by a question over whether his part in the relationship with team-mate Sebastian Vettel was akin to that played by Eddie Irvine to Michael Schumacher when the duo were at Ferrari, Webber snapped: 'Absolutely ********** ludicrous question mate!
'I have been around long enough to understand that I have had some very good seasons in the last few years and people always make the natural comparison between team-mates.'

Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, has given Bahrain Grand Prix officials more time to decide whether the event can be staged this year. In February race organisers withdrew from holding the inaugural round of the 2011 championship following unrest in the country.
“The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, has granted the Bahrain Motor Federation and the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) an extension until June 3rd, date of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Barcelona,” said a statement released late on Monday.
“This decision was taken after consultation with the relevant Bahraini authorities and Formula One Management, the international promoter.”
The FIA originally requested a decision by Sunday (May 1) and over the weekend the BIC said it was keen to see Formula One return to the venue in the “very near future,” though it refrained from specifying when this was likely to be.
"We gratefully acknowledge the understanding of Formula One Management and the FIA in what have been difficult times," said BIC Chairman Zayed Rashid Alzayani. "We also thank the continued support of the international motorsport community and Formula One fans around the world.
"Clearly our national priority is to find a resolution to the difficulties that the Kingdom of Bahrain has experienced. The national situation has moved on in a positive manner, the situation is evolving all the time; our day-to-day life is gradually improving under the current State of National Safety.
"Bahrain's Grand Prix is a time of celebration and hosting the race is a source of great pride for Bahrain and Bahrainis. It is a showcase to the world and we look forward to welcoming the teams and drivers and everyone involved in Formula One back to Bahrain in the very near future."

Formula 1 owners, CVC Capital Partners Ltd., have confirmed that the Italian company, EXOR, has contacted them for a possible buyout of Formula 1. The official statement from CVC Ltd. confirms that the talks were rather friendly and that Formula 1 is not for sale.
The current owner’s of Formula 1 publicised a statement which reads as, “CVC can confirm that it has recently received an approach from the EXOR News Corporation consortium. James Murdoch has informed us that the approach is friendly, at a very preliminary stage.” It further said that the Formula 1 is CVC’s property and is currently not for sale.
“CVC recognises the quality of EXOR and News Corporation as potential investors, but any investment in Formula 1 will require CVC's agreement and will need to demonstrate that it is in the interest of the sport and its stakeholders, taken as a whole,” concluded the statement.
Italian based company EXOR, run by John Elkann, and a media group stated that they are interested in the Formula 1 buyout and an attempt by Formula 1 supremo, Bernie Ecclestone, to deny the buyout news was a deluded effort.
EXOR’s interest is directly linked to the fact that the company owner, Elkann, is also the CEO of the FIAT Company. FIAT being the mother company of Ferrari Motorsports. Along with that, the Agnelli family has shares in EXOR and in FIAT.
Previously, Bernie denied the buyout reports and said that the company and the news corporation are just trying to make money out of the whole media conspiracy. The news about the Formula 1 buyout is almost three weeks old and started as a rumour. James Murdoch stated that his company is looking into Formula 1 buyout. After almost three weeks the rumours are converted into a proper proposal by both James and CVC.
The season continues in Turkey on the 8th of May and the off-track talks about Formula 1 future will continue long into the season. Most people do not expect Formula 1 to change hands too soon..

NEW DELHI: Force India has said it was committed to field Adrian Sutil in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix despite a possible criminal complaint against the driver in the wake of his reported altercation with Renault owner Eric Lux.
Lux has threatened to file a complaint against Sutil for physically assaulting him in a night club in Shanghai after the Chinese Grand Prix, last month.
"Force India Formula One Team is aware of the statements made by both its driver, Adrian Sutil, and Mr Eric Lux of Genii Capital, pertaining to events following the Chinese Grand Prix.
"Although the team continues to monitor the situation, it remains fully committed to its driver line-up at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix," Force India said in a statement.
Lux, one of the owners of the Renault F1 team, had issued a statement on Monday after a showdown with Sutil at the M1nt private club in Shanghai.
Lux was apparently injured by a broken champagne glass and a wound to the neck required 24 stitches, according to an Italian website.
The background of the altercation is not known yet but Sutil has maintained that Lux's injuries occurred by accident and he did not deliberately wound him.
The last time an incident like this occurred was when Belgian driver Bertrand Gachot was found guilty in a London court of assaulting a taxi driver in 1991 and was prevented from attending the Grand Prix of Belgium.
In the event of a civil conviction, Sutil's F1 super license could be at risk and he could temporarily lose his job with the team. Prior to this civil court judgement, neither the FIA nor Bernie Ecclestone are investigating the matter.

Lewis Hamilton has launched a blistering attack on the stewards in the wake of a penalty-hit Monaco Grand Prix.
Hamilton received two drive-through penalties relating to separate incidents with Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Pastor Maldonado in his Williams.
The first penalty, for causing a collision with Massa as he made an attempt to pass on the inside at Loews Hairpin, saw the McLaren ace relegated two places from seventh to ninth.
The second, as Maldonado manoeuvred around the outside of the 25-year-old at the first corner Ste Devote and resulted in the rookie crashing into a barrier, was served retrospectively after the race.
Twenty seconds were added to Hamilton's elapsed time, although it made no difference to his finishing position of sixth.
Hamilton was fuming immediately after the race, and made a stance as he said: "It's an absolute frickin' joke.
"I've been to see the stewards five times out of six this season."
Asked to why he felt the stewards were picking on him, Hamilton retorted: "Maybe it's because I'm black."
Hamilton then added, as if to make light of his previous remark: "That's what Ali G says."
Hamilton was referring to the fictional television character made famous by Sasha Baron Cohen.
Motor sport's world governing body, the FIA, could determine Hamilton has brought the sport into disrepute with his remarks.
Hamilton, though, was unrepentant, adding: "Massa held me up in qualifying, I got the penalty.
"Then he turned into me [during the race], I got the penalty. These drivers are ridiculous. It's stupid."
"People want to see racing, but you get done trying to put on a show, trying to make a move.
"Fair play, if I feel I've gone too late I'd hold my hand up to admit I've caused an incident. But it's not the case.
"I'll just try to keep my mouth shut and try to enjoy the rest of the season.
"It's character-testing, whether it's right or wrong. I'm going to go chill [now], do some jet-skiiing, and try to stay out of trouble."
I always knew he was an ***hole

Button got the luck too with Vettel's botched pit-stop. Track position is always more important at Monaco than having the faster car.
I thought Button could have done more to pressurise Alonso when they were battling, that's why I questioned Button's 'driver of the day' status. I feel viewers get influenced by the commentators when it comes to voting on these things.

LEWIS HAMILTON was told he risks KILLING another driver as Jenson Button took the Canadian GP.
Legend Niki Lauda launched an amazing attack on "mad" Hamilton after the McLaren star's TWO smashes in Montreal.
Hamilton's hopes went up in smoke when he shunted into team-mate Button and was forced to retire.
TOP DOG ... Button takes the chequered flag
TOP DOG ... Button takes the chequered flag
The Brit had already clashed with Red Bull rival Mark Webber, who he sent spinning in a wheel-to-wheel collision.
And Lauda fumed: "What Hamilton did there goes beyond all boundaries.
"He is completely mad. If the FIA does not punish him, I do not understand the world any more.
"At some point there has to be an end to all the jokes. You cannot drive like this as it will result in someone getting killed."
Button snatched the chequered flag from Sebastien Vettel in an astonishing last lap.
Vettel was in total control after a long rain delay until he spun his Red Bull on one of the final turns.
And former world champion Button cashed in by sneaking through and landing top spot.
Vettel limped home in second, while Webber completed the podium. Veteran Michael Schumacher came home in fourth.

Lucky to get a podium at all yesterday.....webber and Schumi were buckets faster than him..... Im glad he got the podium though, he's Baby Schumi......
Also I wonder how long its gonna be before people get bored of him winning???? Remember when they turned off in their Millions cause Schumi just won everything haha

Schumi had a fantastic race, as did Button
Iceman

Yeah i think button was too out there though, 2 crashes and a penalty.....1 was avoidable and yet he got away with it.....
Schumi just got lucky with Strategy and took risks on the tyres towards the last 20 laps, he was half in the damp every lap

Did you see how close some of the times were all day, i think the ban on engine mapping has brought the grid closer (not close enough though, just ban RBR for 4 races :nono:)

I see they've brightened-up the circuit a bit, painting the walls blue etc. All you saw before was grey and white.

yeah it was a very dank track to play on F1 2010, last corner was so hard to get right, I think I always clipped the curb.
What time is the Race on tomorrow?
Iceman
25-06-2011, 08:37 PM
1 o clock should be interesting, theyve never really had a good race here so going by this years standards of races it should be good. Gonna go with Hamilton for the win, Schumi 3rd, I reckon Red bulls will crash first corner.
I've got a good feeling about Alonso tomorrow may whack the remaining £12.32 i have in my account on him for the win
Why is Button 14/1 to win the race.. is that a good price for an each way bet first 3 1/5 odds?
Iceman
25-06-2011, 08:43 PM
Yeah he seems fast and its a home grand Prix so he'll really want to impress, he's gonna come really good towards the end of the season, like last year.

 I dont know anything about odds. you might wanna ask AndyBet  He could win aswell, just look at the last race.
Where he is starting on the grid? 14/1 seems a bit generous

6th
£7.32 on Alonso at 7/1 and £5 on Button at 14/1 it is then

25-06-2011, 08:53 PM
Yeah I reckon thats good, I really dont see the Red Bulls making it past the first corner, mark is clearly frustrated that he isnt competitive enough to snatch pole and Seb wont back down....
Alonso is well overdue a win as well when was his last?

what a boring race that was
also why do spain get 2 grand prix?
why not just let some other country have the grand prix?
european grand prix is stupid

Because Spain is always packed for practices up until the race, its guaranteed money

It's the Alonso factor I guess gets them two Grand Prix.
I didn't think that Valencia was that boring a race. I'd give it 5/10 by this season's standards - this season has sometimes been more Wacky Races than Formula 1. ;)

Definitely, even though its what 5 years since he last won a title, he's still considered the most 'all round' driver on the grid.
I just think that it wouldnt have been as boring if say Alonso won, Vettel is killing F1 (I know now why people hated Schumacher )
