Scum :bored:
I watched that live, I've come across bagels that were more intelligent.
Everything seems quite normal where I live, I went to the local shopping centre and there wasn't much trouble but I've got to go to Dudley in an hour and that's right next to Wolverhampton so I'm gonna be quite tense until I'm safely on the bus back.

The story about the guys being ran over in Brum is heartbreaking:(. How upsetting for their families, the police have arrested someone, if they did it hope the courts give them a lengthy prison sentence.

Not heard about too much trouble in Scotland. But then... that's where a man punched a burning terrorist to the ground at Glasgow Airport. I should think the disaffected youth of Glasgow would think twice.

Its pouring rain and 12 degrees today in Scotland, not conducive to "rioting"
We do not have a big enough ethnic mix of people who do not connect with the country. What ethnicity we have in (mainly) Glasgow are fairly Glaswegian and would not batter their own city.

This actually makes me laugh so much.
There's been mayhem in your country for what 3/4 days now? And the police haven't even been ordered to use Rubber Bullets or a Water Cannon?
Yet, here - when there's an annual riot, the water cannot is out in 12 Minutes and the police have no bother using rubber bullets?
The Ex Police Constable here made an interesting speech last night something about how it's okay for the police to be ordered to use Rubber Bullets and Watercannons on Nationalists at every given chance in NI - but when it comes to their own homes - it's a different ball game altogether?
The same rules should apply for both sides.
It's a ******ing joke and embarrassment that getting a water cannon out in London is such a 'big deal'.

wonder if terrorist will use this distraction to make a move. Or maybe they only like to act when they can have everyones full attention
Could do - all hell would break loose.
There was a page on Facebook last night,
'Taking back our six counties because the English are too distracted right now.'
Made me laugh, I can't remember much from History class last year - I fell asleep through it all mostly but I remember something about England or Ireland being distracted with something else, and then the other country using this as a chance to attack.
Would be crazy sh*t if that happened again - not just talking about the Irish but also with just Terrorists as you said.

It's because English police (not Northern Irish police (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_Service_of_Northern_Ireland)) don't usually fight violence with violence, as evidenced by the refusal to give bobby's on the beat a firearm. A water cannon has NEVER been used in England before, but ya know, when London, Manchester, Liverpool, Salford, Leicestershire, Gloucester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and Wolverhampton are in a state of unrest...these decisions have to be taken

Yes, and incase you forgot - it's the English that want and currently do, rule Northern Ireland.
And the majority of Northern Ireland's police service - are British.
So it's okay for them to order hell to be brought down on rioters every year here - even if the riot is small, but when it comes to their own country and their own people, they're a little more hasty about when and how to go about stopping it.
I agree with you - when all those cities are under attack, those decisions should be taken yes - but they should of been made ages ago.
Not now 3/4 days into the riots?

I am not holding my breath though, as the law stands at present, the really young people caught for this, such as 11 to 16 year olds and even up to 18, cannot under the current laws likely be given custodial sentences.

The whole royal family is just this pool of incest and it's like everyone is hypnotized to worship them. But I guess if she's on your currency and see her face every day you're unlikely to think outside the box and realize that the royals have been screwing you for centuries.

Pretty big difference between doing nothing and having 3 or 4 policeman knock a guy to the ground and continually beat him when he's posing no threat. I don't think of this as evidence that the police are actually "doing something" it looks like they just felt like laying into someone to me

Personally, I have no problem with this clip. It must have been a terribly frustrating couple of days for the cops, being spat at, insulted and abused by a thicket of chavs while having their hands tied by the liberal sociologists that now run the the police. After some of the appalling things I've seen in the last couple of days, one bloke getting a smack (and remember, we can't really see what's going on) seems small-fry in comparison.
We've had more than ten years of the police being cripped by political correctness. The last three days have opened the eyes of the public and the government.

But this wide demographic of the perpetrators points to a "mass infection" by a rouge malevolent Meme.
Meme are idea's, styles beliefs and behaviours which spreads from person to person. A rogue malevolent Meme preys on the susceptible, replicating and propagating, like a virus. As it is essentially information, these pathogens are intangible and hard to tackle.
Just going after the individual rioter or looter is equivalent to taking a so called cold cure that just alleviates the symptom without touching the underlying infection, in this case the Malevolent Meme that whispers into the ears of those it infects, "Take what you want and take the war to the rich and symbols of authority, like the police" It is a meme of despair and is totally insidious.

A 68-year-old man who was critically injured as he tried he tried to stamp out a fire during riots in west London has died, Scotland Yard has said.
Richard Mannington Bowes suffered head injuries in an attack in Ealing on Monday night and was left in a coma.
Police have launched a murder inquiry and issued a CCTV image of a suspect.
He is the fourth person to have died in the recent disorder - three men died in Birmingham after being hit by a car while protecting property on Tuesday.
Haroon Jahan, 21, Shazad Ali, 30, and Abdul Musavir, 31, were struck as they stood in a crowd on the pavement in Winson Green, Birmingham.
On Thursday, West Midlands Police said two boys, aged 16 and 17, and a man, 26, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday has been bailed.
'Terrible price'
Speaking on Thursday when Mr Bowes was in a critical condition, his sister Anne Wilderspin, 73, from Derbyshire, said: "It was sort of unreal because you don't think anything like that happens to a relative of yours.
"I mean we've been horrified by the reports of the riots and what's been going on.
"It was a shock and it's still a bit unreal in a way."
She had been hoping to be reunited with Mr Bowes, whom she had not seen for 30 years.
She said she was travelling to London to see her brother, who gave her away at her wedding. It is not known if she saw him before he died.
Also speaking on Thursday, Mayor of London Boris Johnson paid tribute to him: "There are many villains in this story but also many heroes and I want to pay particular tribute to Mr Bowes.
"But he has paid a terrible price. I am desperately sorry for him and his family."
Mr Bowes, of Haven Green, Ealing, is believed to have remonstrated with some teenagers who were setting fire to two industrial bins on Spring Bridge Road.
Police officers were then pelted with missiles as they came to his aid.
Det Ch Insp John McFarlane said Mr Bowes had been "violently assaulted and knocked to the ground".
He added: "Through CCTV we have identified a strong suspect.
"I know that on seeing these images of him people will be able to identify him.
"He had been in close proximity to the attack, recording the events on a mobile device.
"If you are the suspect in the CCTV, do the decent thing and give yourself up."

I think you're listening to other people's views on Conservative policy instead of making up your own mind.
Cameron was voted in by more people than those who voted for someone else, that's why he's in. And if you truly believe that everyone who voted Tory is rich, you're sorely mistaken.

He's damned whatever he does. He should be flattered people he could do so much damage in such a short space of time, I didn't think he had it in him. If scumbags walked into your house, knocked your family to the ground, took whatever they felt like and burnt the rest to the ground, would you say 'aww poor things, they didn't have much money' or 'it wasn't them really, it was David Cameron.' This will keep on happening if people give it a justification - it was opportunism, an example of a vile, despicable greed and disregard of anyone or anything. You think the Conservatives or David Cameron were on their mind when they were doing this, their only thought was to their own personal gain

The worry i have now is that there are politicians sat rubbing there hands together at the thought of what legislation they could get away with introducing while public anger at what has just happened is running high.
Talk of intervening in and shutting down avenues of communication between people when the goverment/police see signs of public unrest is very 1984
shutting people up doesnt address anything long or short term.
There is a reason for all this its just that the some of the last people to realise what the reason is are the people that were rioting.
Part of society collapsed with horrific results and people need to sit down and work out whats gone wrong.
how did we end up with such a large section of people that dont care about consequence or have so little sense of respect for themselves or other people around them a complete loss of hope.
I dont have the answers but if we just end up tagging this whole horrible incident as "It was the scum chavs with no respect thats what caused it" and filing it away as dealt with carry on then it will happen again.
Something has failed badly in the way we manage society and it needs to be fixed.
Sticks i like your explanation of a social meme the only way to stop things like that propagating in peoples minds is to make the negative associated with the idea outweigh the benefits which is already a given with 99.9 percent of the population so it can only be education thats failed the minority that thought it acceptable to riot.
Do we need to spot the patterns early on in children that lead to them growing up without a moral compass and act on it there????
I dont know but i do know more legislation and tightening of laws doesnt address the root of the problem and punishes everybody not just the rioters.

I agree, I would like to see some stronger sentencing guidelines laid down to use against only those convicted of being involved in these riots.
I would also like to see the planned cuts to the Police halted too.
As you say though, some politicians will be rubbing their hands thinking what severe policies they could get away with and bring in now.
I think no legislation should be done in haste, hurried policy is usually very bad and dangerous policy and there is a lot of investigation to be done and massive consultation to be seen to before politicians set out to make things worse by introducing rotten and totally unfair legislation.
Dear god! Please tell me somebody else has just watched David Starky flush his career down the toilet on Newsnight?!

The BBC has announced a special episode of Crimewatch focusing on the recent UK riots.
The 30-minute episode, titled Riots Caught on Camera: A Crimewatch Special, will be presented by Crimewatch host and former police officer Rav Wilding.
The programme will appeal for viewers to help identify many rioters and looters that were caught on camera during the violence. Wilding will also visit the areas of the UK that were affected by the riots.
BBC One's Question Time UK riots special was seen by approximately 3.5 million people when it aired last night.
Wilding set up a Twitter account this week in order to help the authorities identify those involved in the UK riots.
Riots Caught on Camera: A Crimewatch Special will air on BBC One on Thursday, August 18 at 8pm.
Try hiding now......

"The woman was served with an eviction notice by Wandsworth Council on Friday afternoon.
She is believed to be the first council tenant in the country to face losing her home over rioting and looting which blighted the nation this week.
Council leader Ravi Govindia said: "In Wandsworth we are determined to take the strongest possible action against any tenant or member of their household responsible for the truly shocking behaviour perpetrated on local homes and businesses earlier this week."

What he said was no more shocking, than when black people accuse white epople of speaking in "racist code". There is a hideous double standard, and unfortunately the more you entertain the idea of someone being an automatic victim because of their skin colour, nothing will be solved.
It feels good to stroke yur own ego by claiming that there are no differences between people, that we are all the same. We are not all the same. If we were all the same, than we'd all be looting, but everyone is NOT looting, so we are all NOT the same. We are trying to figure out WHY some people are different and what makes them different from the peaceful non-violent non-looting populus.
What makes the looters different from everyone else? That is all Mr. Starky is trying to figure out.
No, we are not all the same, but those looters did have one thing in common and it was not the colour of their skin: they are all good for nothing little bastards who have no respect for their communities, authority or their fellow human beings.
(good morning BTW Alex) :)

So where does that come from? What defines these people? Where did they get this culture, or mentality, or whatever you want to call it from?? How do we define what made them like this, and how do we destroy it? If we can't define it, then we can't destroy it. You have to discover the disease and give it a name before you can cure it. And you should never blame the patient for having the disease.
It's like blaming someone for having lung cancer. yes, smoking causes lung cancer, but stopping smoking doesn't cure lung cancer. You still have to try to cure the cancer, just stopping smoking won't make it go away.
(and hey happyland, hope you had a good week, staying safe and having a good summer i hope!)
I personally think it comes from our country going soft on discipline.. police, teachers and parents are no longer respected plus we treat our criminals with kid gloves so there is no deterrent any more.
...and yeah my weeks been good. Hope you are well too?
