'Yes. Hello Henry. Get out' God I've missed Cora. I loved the flashback this week as it really explained a lot of things about Regina and it didn't really feel very extraneous or pointless. I feel like I could watch Season 1 and see Regina in a different light because of this episode.

Zelena being a ratchet mess is actually brilliant, I'm glad they didn't go down the boring route and have her written out so quickly. I'm hoping she survives next week's episodes and becomes a series regular in Season 5 since I want them to explore her character more now that she can be more than just an arc villain.

THAT PROMO FOR NEXT WEEK THOUGH. I AM SLAIN AND WIGLESS. I'm gonna have to download, I don't think I can wait :flutter:

Judging from the sneak peaks, these last two episodes will be like the two parter finale of Season 3. A largely self contained story in the Enchanted Forest with a few ramifications for the next series for good measure..

When the Apprentice revealed that the Sorcerer is Merlin, I actually squealed with excitement. I've wanted the Camelot legends properly introduced for a long time and this makes that really likely. I hope that they make the Dark Emma storyline more interesting than her just being all 'I'm dark and eeeeeevil now!'. It'll be more interesting if she toes the line of good and evil as I don't think simply being the Dark One should overwrite a person's personality.

I could potentially see Merlin become the villain in the second half and his defeat will destroy the books and let everyone get their happy ending. That the villains were meant to win in Isaac's book right? If the villains are the heroes then surely the heroes still won? It kind of goes against his whole reason for writing the new book.

That's one of the aspects I'm really intrigued about, a non-Dark One Rumple. It'll be strange seeing a good, pre-Dark One style Rumple in the Storybrooke timeline. :laugh:

I do like Belle, but they don't really give her much to do most of the time.

Even though Will's not returning as a regular (though let's be honest, he was a regular in name only in Season 4, what was even the point?), I hope they explain why he showed up and give his story closure.

He had a real ending in the Wonderland show and then they decided to override that and bring him into the main show ... and then had him have absolutely no relevance whatsoever. :unsure:

It's like when they promoted Red to a main character in Season 2, and she gradually slipped off the radar too. They need to stop promoting characters to the main cast and then realizing they can't fit them in. If this happens with Zelena... :fist:

I don't think he'll be fully good, I think the potential for darkness was there before he became the Dark One and everything about his stint as the Dark One revolved around the fact that he was a coward and that he needed power to overcome that so my guess is that he'll help the heroes so that he can get the power back, I don't think he'll do a complete 180.

Yeah, or just put some dark streaks in her hair or something and change her outfit so it's a more darker version of what she normally wears. When Rumpel was the dark one he didn't run around in trench coats and thigh high boots so I think it's a bit silly to change Emma so much when it would make more sense if she looked more normal.

The interview I read suggested that she'd use love as a weapon and that says to me that her dark look should be more subtle to create a whole wolf in sheep's clothing aspect to her character.

I just read a theory over on IMDB that I love.

Morgan la Fe was a major threat back in Camelot and other realms. She was the black fairy and the original dark one. no one was really a match for her. Merlin tried to stop her by removing the darkness from her to weaken her and/or turn her good since she couldnt' be defeated as she was. This act created teh dark one curse and is teh darkness that we saw removed from Rumple and attack Regina and Emma. With the darkness removed Morgan la Fey turned intot eh blue Fairy.
This is why she had the black fairy's wand, since it was hers, and why she reacted as she did when the other mentioned the apprentice and sorceror during the first half of season 4. She knew the sorceror was Merlin and the apprentice would lead them to him. And if they found him he would reveal who blue really was.
Either Blue is really evil and her reveal would ruin any plans she has been building while she tries to regain her powers and get the darkness and her full powers back. If fantasy and things based on fairy tales etc is something that interests you, you'd probably like it. It has a really passionate fandom, but it also has it's detractors who look down on it because of how it can be cheesy etc (but in a show that also draws heavily from Disney, that's to be expected tbf).

One of my friends first got into it earlier this year and now she's hooked. :laugh:

I love how it combines all different classic stories and how they intersect with each other, and some of the twists they put on certain stories and characters are really cool. :)

Watched this earlier, I really liked it!

The whole plot of them being back in Storybrooke with amnesia is obviously being recycled from 3B but hey, it's the Camelot action I'm mainly interested in so I'm not too bothered.

LOVE that Zelena was being her usual snarky, campy self. I adore that crazy woman and her being part of the main cast this season brings me joy. :love:

Oh, and I love that the Dark One dagger is from the tip of Excalibur. That's really cool. :flutter:

Another good episode, I thought.

Loved the Fury, and the shot of the Ferryman (Charon?) approaching was really cool.

Merlin being trapped inside the tree makes sense considering episode 7's title, Nimue, who in the legends was Merlin's student (as well as the Lady of the Lake) and she eventually betrayed him and trapped him inside a tree or a cave (depending on the version), I believe. Which itself is similar to Jafar and Amara on the Wonderland spin-off, I wonder if the Merlin / Nimue stories influenced that.

Everytime I think of Nimue though, I just picture Michelle Ryan because she played a version of her in BBC's Merlin. :laugh:

I'm still hoping Morgan le Fay shows up (and I'm still hoping she's the Black Fairy :lhee:).

Oh, and Regina's reaction to Dopey turning into a tree after crossing the town line was funny. "Well, that's new". :joker:

The first episode of 5B (also the 100th episode) is to be called "Souls of the Departed" and Cora is going to be in the episode. The Underworld theory is pretty much all but confirmed at this point, I think.

I'm so excited for if they do indeed introduce Hades (but hopefully a more reigned in version than the Disney movie incarnation, some things are best left to animation). Hopefully they hark back more to the Greek myths than the movie.

As for the current arc, I'm enjoying it (and my interest has piqued now Merlin's back), but I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. A Camelot story arc could have been so much more.

But yeah, I love that Merlin's finally been released, his backstory and the history of the Dark One is my main area of interest in this story atm. I think it's safe to say the Dark One who turned him into a tree is the woman he loved, aka Nimue, who filled that role in the Arthurian legends and has an episode named after her next week. Looking forward to that.

And speaking of annoyances, it bugged me in the last episode when Merlin didn't know how to free Lancelot and Merida because "magic has changed" over the years while he's been trapped. Even though he's been able to astral project and communicate with people like Emma and the Apprentice? He's clearly had contact with the outside world ... but he's so out of touch with the progress of magic that he, the most powerful sorcerer of all time, can't get someone out of a cell by himself?

That was just a really weak way to once again have Belle come to the rescue with another random spell she's found in a book (which, along with being a catalyst for Rumple's angst, seems to be all they can think of doing with her. Well that and becoming BFFs with almost every female guest star).

He's the first of the villains returning for the 100th who isn't dead (that we know of anyway, it's possible he died since we last saw him and nobody noticed / cared. :laugh:).

I thought the latest episode was better than the few that came before it but there's still two big issues with this storyline and that's Arthur and Emma.

I liked Arthur before we got his backstory, I like the idea of him being a villain but his flashbacks completely destroyed everything about him and he's just a walking talking obstacle rather than a fully fleshed character. His backstory kind of derailed everything because of the Deus Ex Machina dust and how stupid that a small vial is enough to brainwash Guinevere and create an entire kingdom whilst still having enough to brainwash whoever he needs years later. It's dumb and lazy.

I think Emma's storyline this season has not only been bland but it's retroactively destroyed Rumple's past character development by making out that every bad thing he did was because of the darkness. Everything about Rumple's character was based around his cowardice and that shaped him as a Dark One, I liked the thought that it wasn't the power that corrupted him but his own personality flaws. Emma's just a conduit for the darkness with generic goals that's difficult to care about while Rumple's motivations were shaped by his own wants. I'd much rather have seen an Dark Emma that wasn't simply corrupted by the darkness but because of her need for love, we've seen touches of that so far but they've been buried under the fact that the writers have taken a generic bad guy route with her. She'll end up either getting cured by the end of the first half of the season or killed off (which will bring the Underworld into it in 5B) but I'd much rather see her remain, at least partly, as the dark one. It would be much more interesting to see her as both a character touched by light and darkness rather than just one or the other.

I'm thinking they're gonna have Cruella drive past as a little Easter egg (hence the stand-in). If that's the case, I assume Victoria was unavailable.

Of course, there's still a chance the stand-in was temporary (but I'm not getting my hopes up for a significant Cruella return beyond a brief drive-by appearance). Still, if they can't actually have the actual actor for a particular dead villain appear, it's good to still have them show up in some small way.

Yeah that caught my attention too. I've enjoyed Dark Emma but I am glad it's not being strung out as a whole-season thing.

That episode was better than the last few but I'm just not buying Arthur as a compelling villain, He's a petulant child and that doesn't make for an interesting character.

I liked the whole Nimue as the original Dark One twist (despite it being predictable) but I still hate the fact that Emma's being controlled, it would be more interesting if she was in full control but she had lost her moral compass.

I'm glad that they're finally doing something with Zelena too, she's probably gonna end up being redeemed somewhat but I hope they make her more of a neutral character rather than an out and out good guy. I definitely think that Emma's gonna remain as the Dark One but she'll learn to control it, the conversation she had with Merlin was not very subtle and it reeked of foreshadowing.

My guess for 5B is that Emma will get killed in the winter finale, the rest of the heroes will go to the Underworld to free her and that's when the villains will escape and the heroes will be tasked by Hades (or Hades equivalent) with returning the villains to the underworld or be forced to take their place.

Yeah, this episode definitely renewed my interest in this current arc that was admittedly waning. I loved the Nimue backstory, this was the episode I've been most excited for so I'm glad I enjoyed it. Also, Caroline Ford was great. I mean, it would have been nice to incorporate some of her Lady of the Lake origins but that's just a nitpick, I did find the story satisfying as it was. (I wonder if the specific tint to her Dark One skin was a reference to that?).

I'm also glad Zelena's made a move and is actually impacting the plot (rather than just being there to make quips, hey I love her snark but since she's a regular she needs to be used more).

And I'm sorry but her kicking Snow halfway across the yard was hilarious. :joker:

I am still much more interested in 5B than I am the current story, but I really enjoyed this one and I'm definitely excited for next week (double-episode :clap1:).

I think the Camelot arc has a lot of the same problems that the Neverland arc did, it had a good start and it'll probably have a good end but the middle bit is completely drawn out.

Just watched the first of this week's double episodes. I honestly loved it, best of the season for me easily. This arc as a whole has underwhelmed me but I'm at least hooked for the final stretch. :hee:

Oh yeah, Henry actually referred to her as Nurse Ratched in an earlier episode this season but I figured that was just a shout-out rather than confirmation of who she was in the fairytale world. :think:

The second episode wasn't as bad as I heard it was. I thought Ruby felt extraneous and the reason for her absence seemed a bit silly considering her last experience with a pack of werewolves ended badly but I enjoyed everything else.

For an episode that felt mostly like a standalone I do feel like it set some big things in motion. I think the Ale that allowed Merida to talk to her dad will come into play again in 5B. The witch mentioning the Underworld definitely felt like it was setting up the mythos for the next arc.

I like that we've got some clarification about where Camelot and it's surrounding lands actually is and I like that it's in the same realm as the Enchanted Forest, it would have stretched belief if Mulan and Ruby could cross realms easier than the heroes.

I think Arthur's still the worst thing about this arc though (and maybe the series as a whole) he's just not compelling as a character or as a villain. It would be much better if they just let Zelena be the main Camelot villain. He's just an annoying character, you don't hate him because he's a villain, you hate him because he's pointless and that's piss poor writing. Even Greg and Tamara were more interesting characters and they were completely boring.
