The Rose/Doctor storyline was terrible, and was ended in series 4 in one of the weirdest ways possible

Donna was probably the most annoying creature on earth

and Amy isn't written that well, though I think Karen Gillain is a good actress and does the best she can with what she is given

Martha was just normal, and while her unrequited love for the Doctor storyline was bad, thought she was a really good companion. Plus, series 3 is the best of them all

martha was boring :nono:

i did love series 3 though

that sassy bitch from the new york episode when they all got turned into pigs should have replaced martha

and series 3 introduced the weeping angels so :worship:

Spill the beans. I shall settle for a PM :hmph:

And Amy has definatly improved since her first series. I would of liked her and Rory to hang around for a bit longer. I think having Rory around made Amy a likeable character.

I can't wait for AotD. The reviews for it are saying it could be a cult classic.

amy > donna > rose > martha

Mine's Amy > Rose > Donna > Martha.

Also would have liked Michelle Ryan (as lady Christina de Souza) to become a full time companion, alas it was not to be.

Will do a poll.

only a few more days to wait, yay, I love this show  I'm probs not a typical Whovian, but I adore everything about it, the dramatic side, the humour and the whole general buzz around it.

Plus David Tennant is God!

Glenn.
29-08-2012, 06:14 AM
This isn't strictly S7 related but it is Who related.

I watched The Girl Who Waited at work this morning and I think it's easily one of the best episodes of S6.

Amy was trapped in a faster timeline and she aged and Rory had to choose between Young Amy and Old Amy. It's the first time I've watched it since it aired.

Karen give an amazing performance, possibly her greatest performance over her stay on Doctor Who. After watching that last night Amy is now my favorite companion.

Out of all the companions I think she has had the most complex story over the last two series.

I really cannot wait to see her story conclude, and it is her story. Rory/Melody/River Song etc.

That's pretty awesome, I like Moffats approach to this series, the last few have felt a little too serialised with their stories, so to get a bunch of completely different stories is great.

I was more confused by the Amy becoming a dalek thing?

Jarrod
01-09-2012, 07:18 PM
Amy's wristband that stops the nanobot things that are Daleks turning people into Daleks was stolen by the dead ones. So it started affecting her and then the Doctor put his on him cause he didn't need it.

Glenn.
01-09-2012, 09:59 PM
That was an amazing episode! :amazed:

Clara was in it... WTF! :suspect:

Karen was absolutely fantastic.

It was an amazing Dalek episode. I would say one of the best.

I need to have a re-watch to let it sink in again.

Tom4784
01-09-2012, 10:25 PM
Oswin's inclusion was a big surprise, I'm surprised that wasn't leaked prior. It'll be interesting to see how they bring her back, I'm guessing he'll meet her earlier in her timeline or he'll meet her ancestor in the present day.

The episode itself was very good though, excellent start to the series.

Scarlett.

Anyone hate the new titles? I didn't like the last lot, but they were amazing compared to the new ones, which look like they've just been instagramed, also not keen on the name text.

I liked last night's episode, in fact I've liked the whole series so far. Lots of people on DS hated it but I think some people intentionally set out to look for flaws in a TV show. I just enjoy it for what it is. Great to see Arthur Weasley a.k.a. Rory's dad again. Looking forward to next week's mid season finale, will be good to see River again and I'm going to miss Amy and Rory. I've liked them both as companions.

I'm looking forward to that!

Matt Smith actually let it slip at Comic Con when someone asked whether we would see more of the TARDIS. He was told to be quiet:joker:

It would make sense given next year is the 50th.

Episode Synopsis

Christmas Eve 1892 and the falling snow is the stuff of fairy-tales. When the fairy-tale becomes a nightmare and a chilling menace threatens Earth, an unorthodox young governess, Clara, calls on the Doctor for help. But the Doctor is in mourning, reclusive and determined not to engage in the problems of the universe. As old friends return, will the Doctor really abandon humankind or will he fight to save the world – and Christmas – from the icy clutches of this mysterious menace.

Matt talks Doctor Who future

As publicity ramps up on The Snowmen, Matt Smith has been quizzed about his future on Doctor Who once again.

Here’s Smith’s latest response on the matter from an interview with Bangshowbiz: “We’ve got Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary coming up in November 2013, and one assumes there’ll be another Christmas special after that, and I’d hope to be part of it. I take each year as it comes. All good things come to an end, but my mum is aghast at the thought of me ever not being the Doctor. The show is the star and will continue without me.

”I’m committed to it next year and will sit down with Steven Moffat and see where we go from there. I’ve no immediate plans to leave. I’m around for a whole year and that’s a long time.”

He adds: “Maybe someone could play the Doctor for seven years like Tom Baker, but… it’s 10 months a year.”

Ian McKellen Voicing The Snowmen

According to the Radio Times, McKellen is providing the voice of the titular Snowmen in this year’s Christmas special.

McKellen needs little introduction with many big movie blockbusters to his name including The Lord of the Rings, the X-men series and, most recently, The Hobbit (alongside a certain Sylvester McCoy).

Even though it’s just a voice role, this is a quite a coup for Doctor Who.

Yep, I mean I liked it all at the time, but RTD got caught in a repeating cycle of bringing back everyone for each series finale, plus he always made it look like the Daleks were wiped out, then by the time the next Dalek ep came, he had to make up some bull**** about one Dalek surviving, Moffat played a good card with Victory of the Daleks by allowing the Daleks to win and repopulate the universe.

Yeah, it adds a bit of drama to the series background, with the Daleks always being out there in the background.

Even better, that they don't know who the Doctor is. It's an amazing direction to go with them :worship:

also :amazed::amazed:
As part of Doctor Who's big 50th anniversary bash this year, the BBC has announced its plan to release 11 short stories set in the Who-niverse written by beloved and popular children's book authors. While the authors haven't been confirmed yet, at the top of the list of likely candidates is none other than J.K. Rowling; others include Michelle Paver, Susan Price, Kate Thompson, Anthony Horowitz, Geraldine McCaughrean, Philip Pullman and Alan Garner, according to the folks at Hypable.

Apparently, each author is going to take on one incarnation of the Doctor, which is extra exciting (certainly moreso than 11 tales about Tennant and Smith, at least). The first short story is due out at the end of the month, and a paperback of all 11 stories should be out in November. Personally,'m guessing BBC maximizes the potential interest/sales and has Rowling write either the Tenth or Eleventh Doctors, although there does seem to be something weirdly appropriate in Rowling taking on the Seventh Doctor to me. Your thoughts?

WOW this hasn't been updated in a long time.

Earlier today the official Doctor Who Twitter account posted a mysterious message on its page, promising more on Sunday.

They teased: “#invasion They’re coming… Stand by for exclusive coverage at bbc.in/WOAPAf and right here, tomorrow…”

Followed up by: “They’re coming… Remain calm!”

Going to spoiler this because of... well, spoilers

Who could be invading exactly? Could this be a first look at the Ice Warriors who were confirmed to be returning earlier in the week? Or perhaps the redesigned Cybermen? A new teaser trailer for Series 7?

We’ll find out soon enough…

Glenn.

As promised the BBC has announced the return of Doctor Who this March with an exciting first look picture. Along with it comes confirmation of the opening episode title - The Bells of St John (as was mooted all along).

The Doctor and Clara are riding down the London Shard (as per filming reports last year). Pay close attention to the image and you can see a number of monsters in the glass fragments.

(Spoilered because its a big photo)

http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b614/GlennG88/8D8D33BA-D52E-453B-9220-58A21A175CEF-1186-0000009E2E3488C7_zps017e774b.jpg

Press release added:

Written by Steven Moffat, ‘The Bells of St John’ will mark the official introduction of the Doctor’s newest companion, Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. Having already made two appearances last year, the opening episode will be the first time fans get to see the Clara that will accompany the Doctor across the series’ eight adventures.

Set in London against the backdrop of new and old iconic landmarks, The Shard and Westminster Bridge, ‘The Bells of St John’ will also establish a new nemesis, the Spoonheads, who will battle the Doctor as he discovers something sinister is lurking in the Wi-Fi.

Steven Moffat, executive producer and lead writer, said:

“It’s the 50th year of Doctor Who and look what’s going on! We’re up in the sky and under the sea! We’re running round the rings of an alien world and then a haunted house. There’s new Cybermen, new Ice Warriors and a never before attempted journey to the centre of the TARDIS. And in the finale, the Doctor’s greatest secret will at last be revealed! If this wasn’t already our most exciting year it would be anyway!”

Featuring a movie a week from a ghost story to an underwater siege to a period drama, the new series will also introduce new monsters, as well as bringing back fan favourites the Ice Warriors and Cybermen.

Meanwhile the series’ stellar list of guest stars include: Celia Imrie; Richard E Grant; Warwick Davies, Jessica Raine; Dougray Scott and Tamzin Outhwaite, as well as for the first time on screen together, mother and daughter Dame Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling.

Doctor Who Magazine originally reported that the 50th anniversary special would begin filming today. However, it has subsequently come to light that shooting has been moved and will now start in April.

DWM’s Tom Spilsbury noted on Twitter that the date changed after the magazine went to press.

A BBC source apparently told The Mirror in an article published today: “Filming for the anniversary episode starts in two weeks and there is a real buzz about it, especially because it will be in 3D.”

They also claim: “It is being planned as a TV movie to mark 50 years of the show. It will be the highlight of the celebrations. The episode has been written but we don’t really know yet whether it will be an hour, 75 minutes or 90 minutes.”

Adding: “The movie-length episode will be shown at cinemas in Britain and around the world at the same time as it is screened on BBC1 in November”.

Tonight's episode was great, so is the Great Intelligence this series' big bad?

Seems like it, also I think the actor who plays him is really good.

And I loved tonight's ep. London looked brilliant in it.

There is serious chemistry between Oswin and the Doctor. This is the third show they've been together and I find them gripping to watch. Also it was wonderful to see her not dying for once :D

Did anyone notice the book at the beginning? Who wrote it?

Edit, I think she should have called herself Amelia Pond Williams, it has a better ring to it for an author.

Anyone notice that in Clara's book, some of the ages were missing?

For many fans, David Tennant's incarnation of the iconic lead character was the best in Doctor Who's five decade history.

So they'll be in for a treat when he makes a special return for the show's fiftieth anniversary this year, alongside love interest and companion Billie Piper.
After months of speculation, the BBC have confirmed that the two stars will make an appearance in the one-hour special, which is due to air on November 23.

This needs to be in the title!
DAVID & BILLIE ARE BACK!

I thought it was a decent episode, nothing special mind but the chemistry between Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman carried it.
