I don't like the sound of a holiday's 2013 release, that sounds a bit... I don't know maybe not rushed as such but totally taking things a bit too fast I suppose.. GTA V is not next gen, Rockstar have denied over and over that it will not be next gen, it's coming out for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I do agree that the PS4 doesn't really seem to be such a big step up.

I'd actually disagree with that, It's a huge leap graphics wise between this generation and the next. I actually thought the leap between this generation and the last was kind of small.

Remember these are very early development titles. In KillZone's case, a launch title. Compare Uncharted 1 to 3.

Also you have to remember that PS2 to 3 there was a big leap due to HD. This time around it seems it'll be more about refinement somewhat. Better draw distance, less jaggies etc.

I fully expect us to be wowed in about five years time though. I still found KillZone to look fantastic at the conference.~

Edit: I said to friends some time back that I thought next gen would see more improvement in features than in graphics. We saw lot's of features cited at the conference that just weren't possible on the PS3.

Apparently games will install to the hard drive as you play, and games that you havent played for a while will uninstall (but it doesnt really matter, as when you load it back up you can play pretty much straight away while it reinstalls)

This has been cleared up now

the Playstation 4 does automatic caching to games, and its not the mandatory install. This is really huge news for Playstation 4, it basically mean, if you want to play CoD Ghosts and Killzone, you won't need 100GB of space (50GB each,) you'll just need 50GB to cache them.

Yep, just been reading about this, PS4 will play in 1080p, Xbox One will play in 720p. Also, Microsoft have forbidden reviewers from reviewing the Xbox One version of CoD until November 12th.

The Xbox One is simply put less hardware for more money.

Microsoft can appear to reverse some of their restrictions and talk of having a two way conversation with their customers all they want but it was designed from the ground up to control your living room and sustain a digital distribution environment that says "**** you, you don't own ****."

The consumer would be insane to buy into it. I cannot honestly see how they are going to pull themselves out of the hole they have dug for themselves. Either the restrictions will worsen as time goes on or they will fall away completely because of panic and the console will just become an overpriced, ill defined second option to the cheaper, more dev friendly competitor that all your friends are playing on.

The Xbox One will obviously have a great selection of in house games at some point in it's future but I would be very surprised if it lasts half the time or creates a quarter of an impact the 360 did. Microsoft have already taken this thing back to the drawing board. I honestly think they'll cut their losses and call time on it within 3-5 years and replace it with a cheaper, open platform system that takes it's cues from the likes of Steam and smartphone gaming.

The trust of the hardcore gamer is lost and the Wii has the family market sewn up. They can make a play for some of the billions up for grabs in the market for ordinary people who want quick hit, fun gaming on their phones. Market a console-as-accessory and not one as the living room dominating giant black box for people who want to play serious games and micro manage every aspect of their evenings entertainment.

Good point, I can definately see Microsoft leaving the console market if the console doesn't impress the investors, there's a lot more money for Microsoft in other markets.

Edit: Update about the Xbox One/Call of Duty embargo drama, apparently the reason for the delayed reviews is something other than the fact Xbox can only run it in 720p

Apparently the PS4 wont support CDs. It wont support mp3s at launch either, not too bothered about that, since I dont think I've ever thought "Let's put a CD in the Playstation". Apparently there wont be support for connection to your PC to stream stuff to your PS4... but, that's very likely going to change, along with the mp3 situation.

Nah, that was a misunderstanding about the terms of service, which basically meant that users can't copy data off discs and resell them. Yoshida confirmed the second hand game stuff can still be done with all games.

I only decided to get one early because I always have more money at this end of the year, I've already paid for mine though, because I didn't want my bank rejecting the payment (fraud protection, lol) and causing a headache. There seems to be a lot of decent titles on the horizon too, I'd say Xbone has the better lauch titles, and PS4 has the better launch window titles.

Been playing for a few days now, I'm still blown away by how functional everything is, and also the 1080p 60fps makes a lot of difference, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag looks beautiful, Killzone just looks amazing, Resogun.... Resogun, my god, there's so much going on on screen, yet there's never a moment where it will lag or glitch, it's outstanding. Twitch is very easy to use, just click share, then chose a few options before you go live, then you go live pretty much instantly, no fuss. Uploading pictures/videos is good, but I hope they add more options (They likely will). Being able to instantly switch from in game to the dashboard and back is very impressive too. Finally, it's just nice to be able to play a game with no jaggies, unloaded textures or small view distances. I can't wait to see what Sony does with this console.

The Vita works VERY well with the PS4, I played Assassin's Creed IV last night via the PS4 link and there was no input lag at all, there's apparently some upcoming bundles with PS4 + Vita, if you can get them its worth it.

Apparently sold 2.1m worldwide already, seriously impressive, jealous I have to wait until January, but I don't mind overly, as none of the launch titles stood out to me, so I'd have just been playing FIFA for ages anyway :laugh:, I'll likely just drown in the indie games, Contrast looks fab.

Yeah, personally I dont like shooters either (unless there is more to them), with the game just being a multiplayer game too, I'm not bothered about the game at all. To me it just looks like CoD with robots.

There will be a new game in March, but if you "buy" it now, it'll be free as long as you have PS+, so if you have a PS+ profile, "buy" it (I say buy, but it's free, pressing the "buy" button just means you have it), even if you dont have a PS4, I believe you can still "Buy" PS4 games for your account on the site.
