Is Diana Vickers busy?

King Gizzard
18-05-2013, 10:37 PM
Jade Ewen was even particularly 'sexy', I think if somehow ITV got the rights to do the talent search it'd be good, BBC aren't very good with these reality voting shows

King Gizzard

joeysteele

Stunned Ireland were last this time, it was a good song and performance too.

Denmark was as worthy a winner as anyone else and although sad for Bonnie Tyler, the way the voting goes, getting votes from 6 countries is better.

Really enjoyed most of the show though, some really good performances all through.

Ryan57
18-05-2013, 10:40 PM
Or maybe, we're just **** at everything? This feels like when England, once again, play 'effin **** at a major tournament and we all say what should change... then the next event comes around we have some faith and again we're left embarrassed.

Like that Italian entry had had a single at the top of the charts for 8 weeks in a row, we'd never send anyone like that

....I don't know why it's not taken more seriously..it does have credibility and we have some great song writing talent..probably some of the best in the world...it would take nothing for one of those songwriters to produce the Eurovision song once a year..and then maybe we would have a real chance to do well..

..but a rubbish song and a singer who isn't really that good a performer anymore...?...I think we got exactly the points we deserved..in fact we might have even been lucky to get them...

I would look for some much younger talent coming through, not necessarily a big chart name but someone who has had modest success and more to the point maybe has had some current success in other European countries.

It is a gruelling contest for any artiste, there are so many rehearsals and then the show itself.
Bonnie was always likely to be out of her depth becasue she doesn't perform that much still.

She was miles better than Englebert and after all this year we did beat Germany and France in Eurovision so we got the better of them in something.
Pehaps we should also look for a singing talent in this Country that has Russian connections rather than just UK ones, maybe they would bring in more points.

I just really can't see the UK winning this again because I cannot see any major credible artiste wanting to do it now.
No one wants to appear to fail and Eurovision, even in the past had major stars like Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black,Petula Clark,Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones always making sure they would not do it even in the UK's more successful years in Eurovision,so I would say very little chance of getting any current singer/group to agree to it.

I sort of also like the idea of an X Factor,to choose an artiste to represent us in Eurovision too though, they would also gain publicity from the series too which could help get them noticed abroad and with the right song could be more successful.

Denmark was set up for a win, what with the tickertape and the pyrotechnics. Norway was my fave, malta was a cute song, cascada should have done better.
What happened to Ireland, should have gone with 'My lovely horse' :joker:

a slightly more up tempo version of this might have done well for a UK entry

While the song that Bonnie sang was a rather nice song it lacked any originality, she must I am sure, have a better track on the album that could have been the entry.

It is all over now but it was widely sort of reported that the choice of singer was either Bonnie or Petula Clark,
While I am glad she didn't do it and I doubted anyway her husband and manager would have wanted her too anyway.
One thing is sure for me, Petula had a really great song, 'Cut,Copy Me' on her new album,(rumoured to be the possible entry), that may have just fit in really well at the time of the contest when the UK's entry was on.

Still Bonnie feels she did her best and she did really, apparantly she was up to partying too anyway according to the news.

I'm probably late on the discussion but I'm so happy Denmark won, catchy song, decent voice, and the singer was nice looking too boot.

I agree, I really liked it too, it was one of 6 that I would have been happy to see win.

What did you think of Russia's performance Joey? I thought it should've been a little higher than it was, the same with Belgium.

I loved Russia's Mock, although I found it odd them singing about reaching out to those most in need.
I really liked Belgium too, also Hungary for some reason that has stuck in my head.

It was a good contest, sad for Ireland,(maybe they needed Jedward again), I was surprised they were last but sometimes the last song on if it is not vastly different from what's been on already can get lost as people are thinking of how they will vote then.

Russia was 5th though so pretty good going.

countries that should have received no votes at all:
- Ireland (terrible)
- Armenia (don't even remember it)
- Georgia (nauseating)
- Estonia (don't recall it)
- Belarus (it was a very 2004 entry)
- Lithuania (shoes line)
- Italy (zzzzzzzzzzz)

also struggling to remember France and Spain
