The Twins/Phone Call

Maybe I missed something here..but why did the twins get a phone call from Shane during this task when everyone else was getting gunged, made to eat horrible things, find out bad things others had said about them, wear a snake costume and so on?

Also other than that did they really need to do the whole montage thing during the singing in the phone call :bored:
