The death of Hayley was discovered later that evening, and sent Livia into disarray. She'd spent so much time narrowing down the suspects and punishing the wrongly-accused that she was almost tempted to let Ieva out, but decided that it was best leaving her somewhere she couldn't be harmed. For all she knew, Ieva could've been the original killer and a copycat was now on the loose.

She therefore ordered an immediate lockdown of the facility and announced over intercom that the remaining prisoners would be transfered to solitary confinement. Still reluctant to draw any outside attention, she conducted the transportation in private and on her own, to be carried out in the morning. For the timebeing, the surviving 11 inmates were eating their last dinner together. Livia oversaw the dishing up, before excusing herself to the bathroom.

After Livia left, conversation bubbled up amongst the group. Now largely male-dominated, the guys were quick to talk over each other.
"What is going to happen?" demanded Arnaud in a thick French accent.
"I swear down, fam, anyone tries to touch me I will end them," Luiz darted a look at Arnaud, who'd been eyeing him up since they arrived.
"If we're getting split up, maybe it's for the best..." Julianne spoke up, still a little shaken from the loss of Hayley.

The lights went out.

In total darkness - it was around 6pm in winter time ok just shut up - the group leapt to their feet and began shuffling around wary of each other. Somewhere in the distance, Livia was just walking back from the bathroom when she, too, was thrust into darkness.
"This ****ing budget," she sighed, assuming power had been cut off by the board, as she headed off to the generator room, a little awkwardly and tentatively.

Back in the canteen, Julianne was freaking out. "Netta - Netta, are you there?"
"Yes, where are you?" the Swede replied, reaching out and touching someone's elbow.
"Get your hands off of me woman!" Chenzira shoved her away, tumbling into a table. In the distance he could hear quick footsteps, and a splashing sound. Near the front entrance of the room, Ken and Richard had found the door and decided to head through opposite sides of it to try and find somewhere alone and safe in the darkness.
Netta climbed to her feet with the aid of Luiz, and found Julianne soon after. They hugged each other out of fear, as Arnaud assured them the power would be back on shortly.

Near the back of the room, Demetri had just bumped into a sneeze guard and the rattle of which made most people jump. For the most part, the room was noisy and full of nervous chatter and a couple of heated exchanges, until a single male voice shouted.

"Can anyone else smell gas?"

Livia reached the generator room and found a torch hanging on a hook right next to its light switch. She grabbed it and looked around for some instructions, when the room started screeching with a sudden alarm. She would later admit she pissed herself a little. She tried not to let it deter her though, and knew the lights needed to be restored. She discovered that the system was set to a timer, and although she was no electrician, she could see that the fact that a half-hour window of no power to take place tonight wasn't part of the routine. She flicked a switch, and the room lit up - momentarily blinding her as she tried to adjust.

Off in the distance, a small explosion might not have made itself heard to Livia, but to the 11 in the canteen it was quite the rude awakening. The sheer force of the blast threw Demetri back into a row of chairs, whilst Stefanie and Mariya had their overalls catch fire. Netta ran towards them with some warped sense of maternal instinct and tried patting them but they dropped and rolled around on the floor without her help. Everyone else had legged it for the door, the room now a little lit thanks to the flames that were now consuming the kitchen's deep fat frier and Stefanie's trousers. Mariya had now climbed to her feet and grabbed Netta.
"We need to get out of here, come now!"
"I can't just leave Stefanie-" Netta began, as flames licked their way up the walls around them. Apparently the canteen was quite greasy.
Mariya pushed her aside. "Fine, be a hero," and made for the door.

Stefanie had extinguished the flames on her arms but still had some trouble near her feet, and now her legs were scorching. Netta looked around desperately for something to help and ran for a folded pile of dishclothes towards the back of the kitchen by the sinks. The lights came on, and she felt almost safer for their presence, when she noticed the full extent of the fire's rapid spread. She had time to look at the flaming cooker when the canister inside it exploded.

In the corridors, the inmates ran frenziedly and without direction. Livia, on the way back, bumped into a panting Ken who told her what was happening, and she grabbed his arm and ran for the control tower. She suddenly realised who he was and pushed him back, before locking herself in it. She found the phone and made a call to the emergency services. She couldn't cover this up.

By the time the next morning had dawned, the fire was extinguished but had completely devastated the kitchen and canteen. The charred corpse of Netta was carried out of the complex by the coroner, as an investigation was held into the cause of the fire. Later that day, it would be ruled that a gas leak was to blame, but Livia knew it wasn't an accident. At least for now, she could nod and play along as though nothing terrible was awry. The state prison authority were notified of the incident but she played down its effects, reassuring that the other 15 inmates were still alive and well.

For now, she had an extra worry of Stefanie's burns to attend to. She brought in a registered nurse to stay in the prison's small but capable ward, and she'd since diagnosed them to be only second-degree. For Stefanie, and for Livia, the recovery would be painful.

just to clarify, a few people have PMed going tactically with this... but if the Killer makes the final undetected and with incredibly view votes over the SITDs, I (and hopefully the other judges) will interpret this to be the sign of a very good Killer and bode well for them in the final scoring.

Having played this twice before (ICB2/4), winning once (ICB2) and judging once (ICB3) I have a good perception of this game and I have been following players movements within it. You may want to think about your strategies for the remainder of the game as you have two things to worry about; other players but also the killer.

just so as you don't hate me or maybe hate me a little less, I'm going to explain what I'm going to do and my reason....

..well, you know I'm not really a game person and wouldn't normally have applied...I love watching them but am just not competitive in anything in life at all...so, if I was to stay then at some point it would get worse in that I would have to vote people I think should win..and yeah, maybe the old bit of biased going on as well...there isn't anyone on the forum who isn't guilty of that to some degree....

...so, I know I can't vote myself as you said...so I won't vote at all and take the vote against myself..it's the same thing...I know that's going to really disappoint you/annoy you and you might think it mocks the spirit of the game...but I really wouldn't have applied if you hadn't asked about it, so in a way, it's a compliment to you that it's the first forum game I've been involved in...and I have loved every minute, even when I wasn't so good at the music task, like the pub quiz, I love being a part of a good team of people...I stupidly overlooked..(actually forgot..) about this part of it and just thought about the tasks...


..please don't hate me because enough people do already and I don't want you to...I'm sorry...but I do have ideas who the killer is and if I'm right, I would never vote them anyway...yeah, just not a game player...we are what we are....

I'm going to say Jon or DTM just because I feel like he took his lose too well. Also, he puts a lot of effort into the tasks, and I think that's something the killer would do to throw us off. Plus, I would think the killer would want to kill DTM since he seems good at the game, but he's still here. :laugh: I know it's a lot of backwards, but those are the only things sticking out to me so far.

I have no idea who the killer is at this stage but my early guess would be Jon/DTM. Reasons for this are that a good game player would have got rid of him yesterday when they had the chance and yet he survived. Apart from that iv seen no real reasons for anyone else being the killer yet and Jon himself hasn't given me any good reasons to believe he is except that one moment.

I'm going to go for Ammi this time. The clue's made me think it was her. I'm not certain, but I think I've seen her name in your custom title or whateva. I'd have liked to go for DTM this time just because I see him as a threat and I still think that he could be the killer, but I decided against it and I'll just try to do something a little more game movey about it. I'm honestly scared that I haven't played this game enough. I would like to stab Ammi.

Reason being; I think I have a good idea who the killer may be and I sort of feel comfortable with that person being the killer (Annie, Josy or :suspect: Niamh)... the killing have been 'fair' ...But tbh in comparison to the past two times I've played this game I am a lot less involved because I'm employed now and I daren't get too invested because Ben might send me to Isolation and kill me because he's a ****face!!! /sob

I don't think Ammi is the killer but I don't want to make any big waves and I don't think Ammi would care about going (this series is full of people I like and have aligned with in previous games!). I was torn between voting somebody like Ammi or Lucas/Drew who I think will (purposely or accidently) send me to isolation with somebody I like who I think is the killer and ultimately end my game. I don't think Jon is the killer either because I think he would have saved Kate.

That being said.. I don't think this SITD will result in an elimination and I'd be happier if Ammi is the one to gain an advantage in the form of a clue.

Also I'm very suspect at only two SITDs.... what do you have up your sleeves Mr :suspect:

The night after the kitchen fire, Livia was overseeing some contracted cleaners as they tried to make the most of the ruins. The kitchen would take weeks to rebuild, so she had to dip into the budget to use delivered ready meals and a microwave. It wasn't ideal but an interrogation over starving inmates was just about the last thing on her mind. She headed back to the control tower where she decided she'd give out the night's meals one by one to their cells, since they now had no communal dining area either. A padlock had also been placed on the entrance to the generator room, so that no further tampering with the lights or electronics could be made.

It was a pretty chilly night outside and the sky was oddly still, no winds nor rain but just tranquility. If she were the superstitious type, Livia might have found it all a little sinister. For now, she was too preoccupied to care about life outside these walls, and blissfully unaware of the inmate waiting around the corner with a jagged glass bottle.

Arnaud and Ken had made friends a few days after arriving at the prison and Ken was quite ignorant of the fact that Arnaud's homosexuality made him the victim of taunts from both camps - the female and male inmates. He wasn't exactly cosmopolitan, but Ken didn't care for whatever Arnaud did in the bedroom. They were chatting, mostly about films, along a corridor to the control tower roughly an hour later when they made the grisly discovery of Livia's body.

"Ring the alarm!" Arnaud panicked, as he ran towards her.
"Don't touch her, you'll be blamed for it," Ken spoke calmly.

The commotion alerted a couple of others nearby to their location, and Julianne and Hugh came first (oo-er). Julianne had to physically restrain Arnaud who, by now, at this stage in the ICB5 story, is my token hysterical fag who quotes Beyonce song titles when confronted with corpses.

"This is just a horrible Deja Vu (feat. Jay Z)" he shrieked, crying into her shoulder.
"There there," she patted him, a little grossed out.
Hugh had been staring at Ken for a while now and the subtext made Arnaud quiet.
"What am I missing here?" he winked and :elephant:ed at this not remotely homoerotic exchange.
"You don't seem very surprised, Ken," Hugh began, with a hint of accusation in his voice. By now, Richard and Mariya had also latched onto the group and found the bleeding corpse. They, too, looked at Ken who seemed oddly solemn.

Once the entire facility's number of inmates - bar Stefanie who was still in the nurse's wing - had crowded around, Richard attempted to take command.
"Clearly, someone is not going to stop until we're all dead. I might have even said it was that psycho bitch Livia and her terrible prison-managing skills but apparently she'd not invincible either."
Hugh was a little bit aggrieved that Richard seemed to think he was the leader but let him continue.
"But the fact here is: Ken has never spoken to any of us except the messy fag over there. He's the first to discover Livia. He's never told any of us what he's in here for. Who's to say he's not the killer?"
There was an awkward silence but a definite element of doubt hanging in the air. Ken didn't even try to defend himself - except when Mariya lashed out.
"They're all dead because of you!" she clawed at him, as she was held back by Chenzira and Hugh. She broke free though and gave chase - because Ken had taken this time to turn on his heel and run for it.

Ken had lost the group in the library and now, a little out of breath but still quiet and composed, headed quickly back to his cell. He could hear their cries in the distance, and so had to act fast. He reached for the family heirloom his grandmother had given to him when he was just 10 years old. It had belonged to his father's side of the family for generations and - not until that one night 3 years ago that resulted in him murdering his grandmother and landing in this place - never been used. He decided it'd be best to give it one last try.

He took the sheath off the samurai sword and thrust it into his own stomach. He barely flinched as he made the swift movement and completed the act of seppuku (HELLO NAME OF THE VIDEO I POSTED AT THE START OF TONIGHT). At least he could do it on his own terms - he knew he was guilty of nothing in ICB, but he wouldn't let the killer get the best of him.
