Damn, you took my thread ;)
Just kidding :p
Interesting to see what it rates. These are the averages of CBB on Ch5 launches. These are OFFICIALS, not overnights, and the series official averages are in brackets.
CBB8- 5.3m (2.8m)
CBB9- 3.6m (2.6m)
CBB10- 3.0m (2.2m)
CBB11- 3.8m (2.8m)
CBB12- 3.2m (2.3m)
So it is clear that winter launches are higher than the summer launches after BB because winter series have promotion and summer hardly has any. So, we should be looking at between the CBB11 and CBB12 ratings, so an official of around 3.5m (3.2m overnights).
3.3 Million,I'm hoping for BB15 to get high ratings because of BB14 rated well

I agree mostly. All those colours and bits and bobs in January will annoy me a bit! Maybe they will go more plain for BB15.

Well, we'll bypass Silent Witness, obviously that'll beat BB.
8 out of 10 cats was getting trounced by BB14 wasn't it? So that should be fine. I have no idea how that James May thing will do, which I presume is on BBC2...remember the cat documentary? :bored:
Main competition will be Life Stories....June Brown is very popular...Can't see the Sherlock repeat getting any more than about a million....Not too bad all in all.

Saw somewhere around it's Life Stories with June Brown, Silent Witness, 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown and something with James May on BBC2.
Silent Witness we can discount, so I'm guessing it could come second or third in it's slot.

It starts on a Friday which is usually a terrible idea but seeing as Christmas is over and everyone has the sh!ts from eating to much crap hence staying in could benefit it.
Although the advertising has been dreadful and I dont think many people know its coming back.
Its not like back in the Channel 4 days when everyone just knew when it was coming on because it was simple (Summer BB, Winter CBB) now its all over the place these days so the casual viewer is just like *Is CBB on again? Never even knew it started.....
thinking it will be around the 2.7 mark or maybe lower as its only a week away and theres no real build up.
Everything was released to soon.
If you're not going to do a big promo then you need to hold back all the house pics and eye just to keep people getting all excited and annoyed then BAM! release them on the Monday before its starts.
I should so work in marketing.

Read back the threads sunshine. I have been on here all over xmas and you came on today and ragged EVERY SINGLE one of my posts. Stop playing the sympathy card. You have a pattern that everyone can see bright as sunlight.
I post or comment, you come back at my post with a sly or demeaning comment, (typical hidden bait) I tell you to piddle off, you push the report button and play the victim then if I get infracted you punch the air.
Nothing new there then. You don't like me, I don't like you but you still we must cohabit so if you insist on baiting me, I will still come back at you. Being a dick isn't something one man can own alone.

Mostly agree with you Dan, but don't think the advertising has been any worse than any other series on Channel 5. Hoping in the last week, they can power it through and keep advertising it. Is there any billboards, posters, magazine promotion yet?

3.8-4.1 Overnights would be a huge success.
Realistically a good launch would be 3.3-3.6
At this rate with lack of what I can tell talking about is about 2.8-3.3.

Cant believe people are thinking 3.5 in overnights.
Seriously?
Theres no promotion and it starts on a Friday.
You would think Emma or Rylan would be getting interviews on Loose women and other shows by now.
Theres not 1 poster or billboard and ive seen the advert once on Channel 5.
2.5/2.7 maximum.

Good point about interviews. Loose Women should be on the cards this week because its tradition! If they don't, it would be very odd.
CBB12 started with 2.7m and that was in the summer, which is why I am hoping for 3m+

The only promotion it has going for it is on Twitter because the people rumoured with hundreds of thousands of followers. I hope that helps, but it's VERY odd they are not promoting it.
daniel-lewis-1985
30-12-2013, 05:13 PM
Literally hardly any of the viewing public know CBB is back on in 4 days.
Look how much promo BB14 got and the launch night ratings were shockingly bad to all of us on the forum.
Hopefully though like BB14 CBB will build but it will affect the average in a massive way if launch night figures are low.
BB14 would have averaged well over 2 million if it wasn't for the stupid double launch and dismal ratings for both shows plus the stupid decision to split the finale into 2 parts on a weeknight when watching BB came second priority to viewers getting up for their jobs in the morning.

3.4 last night, only beat by BBC One. Up from last series but down slightly from this time last year (january series)
Sawyer
04-01-2014, 10:17 AM
Not a bad figure considering the lack of promotion.
@TVRatingsUK: #CelebrityBigBrother series 13 kicked off last night with 3.40m/15.0%, only beaten by BBC1 during its two hours on air. #CBB
@TVRatingsUK: #CelebrityBigBrother's audience of 3.40m is 570k up on the last series launch in August, but 150k down on series 11's launch in January 2013
Not sure what the peak is though.

If you're measuring by what channels they're on, no. All Channel 4's averaged we're hovering around the 3 to 5m mark, whereas C5 has the range 2 - 3 inclusive.
Obviously, it depends on whether it's a summer or winter series, in which case shares are especially more important.

Something I didn't notice... it would make it the highest of BB since Emma was a presenter! So more people last night witnessed Emma presenting. Also, as we have probably noticed, last night was the 2nd highest rating of the last year for BB, just behind CBB11 launch.
Officials should bring it nearer to 3.7m I think.

January 2012
Saturday #1: 1.94m (7.9%)
Saturday #2: 1.71m (7.2%)
Saturday #3: 1.59m (6.8%)
January 2013
Saturday #1: 1.89m (8.5%)
Saturday #2: 1.91m (8.7%)
Saturday #3: 1.57m (7.2%)
If tonight managed to top 2m, it would be higher than any Saturday rating on Ch5! (Maybe apart from the first Sat of CBB8). And weirdly, I think it actually potentially could! Twitter was buzzing still despite being a Saturday, it seemed a lot were watching on +1.
Going down to below 2m would be a pretty massive drop from 3.4 wouldn't it?

Gutted if it doesn't get 2 million for such a good episode.
Plus isn't it on at 9pm tomorrow so most of the Previously stuff will be blocked out with all the nudity and finger bang talk haha.
I usually hate the previously bit but I feel people need to see what happened to get them hooked as so much happened in 1 night!

Saturday #2: 1.71m (7.2%)
Saturday #3: 1.59m (6.8%)
January 2013

Nice rise despite being up against Sherlock (which got 8.8m) and Bad Teacher which has the same demo audience as BB.
Also great to see it 190k up on CBB11 first Sunday. Hopefully with less competition, it will climb throughout the week.

The surprise rating of the night I think. It got 2.46m incl +1. Pretty sure that is one of the highest premiers in quite a long time! I expected it to be around 1.5m. Probably means without BT and Sherlock tonight, the CBB ratings should increase.

You would be surprised with how many people watch C5. They show some good American dramas, the odd good documentary and a lot of decent films from time to time. They are a bit like a younger C4 (maybe even C4 in its current form), they have the main leading show (Big Brother) and the odd decent show now and again, with films and documentaries in the middle.

Big Brother and Wentworth Prison are the only shows on watch on Channel 5 but it has some one off stuff I have liked such as on Benefits and Proud and Obsessive and Compulisve Collectors. I dont understand the hate even if it isn't on par with Channel 4 although over 2013 there was less on C4 I liked.

I would predict around 2.50m for tonight. Which would get to around 2.8m-2.9m officially which would either match or beat CBB8/CBB11 2.8m official! So we should hope for overnights of 2.5m for CBB13 to be the highest series to date on Channel 5 (BB and CBB).

I think the only way this series is going to be the highest rated is obviously if the episodes get solid ratings but like in CBB9 and CBB11 even BB14 where some big fight happened and made the ratings soar for a few nights bringing up the average.
We need something to happen that gets BB a 2.9/3m episode.
This year I cant really see any fights happening but I am enjoying how cheeky and outspoken the house is. Maybe after Wednesdays twist when the evictees return there may be some kick off but then that wont be aired till Saturday (the lowest rated day of the week).
The team really need to start thinking things through when it comes to their ratings.

I think even if it stays at 2.4m nightly, it could beat CBB8/CBB11 because the recent series have been timeshifting an average of 400k-500k now, so officially it would bring it to 2.8m-2.9m.

Sats always do worse and producers know that, and Sats actually add the most on time shift. I remember CBB11 Saturdays were adding around 700k in the officials. So the 1.86m for last Sat could equate to 2.5m officially anyway.

just read this on the guardian website..
Although it was down on the 6 million-plus viewers who used to watch the show in its heyday on Channel 4, Celebrity Big Brother was more than double (107%) Channel 5's slot average over the past three months.
Source (http://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/jan/06/tvratings-television)
and this on the Radio Times website..
Celebrity Big Brother 13 ratings prove the show still has legs
Channel 5's latest line-up, which includes boxing legend Evander Holyfield, TOWIE star Sam Faiers, controversial columnist Liz Jones and N-Dubz bad boy Dappy, pulled in 3.4m viewers for Channel 5 at launch
You might think that Celebrity Big Brother should have been buried in a very deep hole along with the final episode of Lost and England’s hopes of ever winning a major football tournament at the end of the noughties – but love it or hate it… it still pulls in the punters.
OK, it doesn’t attract the 6 or 7 million for the launch show that the programme once did on Channel 4 in its heyday – but that said, 3.4 million viewers (15% share) for the opening exchanges of CBB 13 on Friday night proves the show still has legs on Channel 5 – some might even say it’s an inspired purchase by the commercial channel.
The numbers are up on the August edition of the show (as you would expect) and only a little down on last year's January run of the programme despite increasing competition.
Yes, CBB has to work a little harder than it used to for its punters in a world where every other show sees celebrities doing something far more energetic and exciting than just sitting in a house. (See Tom Daley’s Splash! tonight, and Channel 4’s upcoming The Jump; where Anthea Turner will face off against Tara Palmer Tomkinson at ski jumping in Austria. Alan Partridge, have you spoken to your lawyers?)
But CBB seems equal to the challenge.
The bookers have been working overtime for the 2014 run to attract a line-up that not only contains names that you don’t need an encyclopaedia of 80s pop music to recognise – but who potentially will clash at every juncture for our entertainment.
The added twist of modelling the whole house on the set of Eyes Wide Shut, and handcuffing unlikely pairings together (Liz Jones and Dappy from N Dubz/ Jim Davidson and, anyone) offers just enough ritual humiliation of the celebs to ensure the Great British public get their pound of flesh from the series.
Emma Willis’s almost seamless transition into Davina 2.0 (let’s forget the Brian Dowling thing ever happened) gives CBB 13 all the factors it needs to hold the best part of two million people for the next three weeks. (And of course keep the Daily Star’s front pages filled with gossip and titillation)
As long as it can do this – Channel 5 (and their advertisers) will stay happy… and just like many of the other regular reality shows we say “must” be ready to die (X Factor and BGT, recently signed for 3 more years on ITV) – it will stay with us for many series to come.
Remember, before you write it off… it’s not just Big Brother watching you - plenty of people are still watching him.

Really? With a higher launch and big finale ratings for CBB11?
For this series to beat it which I think deserves to it needs a few nights like the Hazel, Daley thing or The House vs Denise back in 2012 lol
To kind of boost the average up. It would be nice to finally have a Channel 5 series have a 3 million average which is the target.
I think BB14 did actually average about 2.1 fans were hoping it would average 2 million but all those missing officials went on holiday or something so we got a 1.9.

As long as it has as big or bigger peaks, yes, and it's not exactly been a slow burner. It's currently 200k a night ahead of CBB11 at this point last year, if it manages that most nights then the slightly lower launch won't matter much.
I think 2.6 peak for today's fake eviction or more

With CBB11, most of it came from the officials. So far CBB13 has beaten CBB11 in the past three nights in the overnights. CBB11 ratings increased slightly over the 3 weeks. If CBB13 time shifts as well as CBB11, then it will become the highest rated on Ch5.

On it's way to highest rated CBB on C5 as long as it continues to beat CBB11 (which admittedly had some high peaks further in).
Am I missing something didnt cbb11 get 2.8 or 2.81 million cbb13 isnt averaging that or shoudl the ratings increase because I don't see them going past 2.6?

CBB8 and CBB11 got 2.8m officially. Normally officials add around 400k-500k, so for last night it would have gone near or surpassed 3m.
CBB11 overnights average was around 2.4m.

So much drama for the lesser part of a week, officials for the first six days I presume will look something like this if the officials add 400k-500k... Inc +1, HD bleh...
Friday - 3.8*
Saturday - 2.2
Sunday - 2.9
Monday - 3.0
Tuesday - 2.7
Wednesday - 3.0*
Really getting hooked into this series, during the fake eviction I felt like I was back in the Channel 4 era where I was clapping with excitement. With an amazing summer series just gone and with this series looking to be another to remember it seems as though Big Brother is starting to become a 'must watch' again.

+1 saved CBB last night due to competition.
1.97m excluding +1 and 373,000 on time shift= 2.34m incl +1. Down on the fake eviction obviously but up on Tuesday's 2.31m. Tonight should be 2.5m+.
CBB dented The Undateables which launched with 2.5m, it's lowest start.

Celebrity Big Brother: Week 1 vs last January
Friday: 3.40m (3.55m)
Saturday: 1.86m (1.97m)
Sunday: 2.33m (2.19m)
Monday: 2.43m (2.20m)
Tuesday: 2.31m (1.99m)
Wednesday: 2.63m (2.27m)
Thursday: 2.34m (2.15m)
------------------------------------------
Average: 2.47m (2.33m)
So far CBB13 is up 140k up on CBB11 in over nights. CBB11 did however increase throughout the run and timeshifted an average of around 500-600k, if CBB13 does this, we could maybe even hit the magic 3m depending on how the rest of the series holds up!!
What's wrong Daniel?

Whether it hits the peaks CBB11 had at the moment depends on whether Casey is stupid enough to go back to flirting with Lee rather than continue her successful sympathy drive, the hate towards him from the eviction night numbers are clearly a big pull at the minute. If she does hopefully they'll ply Jim with a few drinks to keep the ratings up :D.

That is wrong. First of all the 2.07m will be the excl +1 rating for the 2 hr show even though it ran for 90 mins. Also, never in a million years would 931k catch anything on Ch5+1. DS needs to fix their article.

Good ratings.
Shame tonights argument is on the lowest rated highlights of the week as that would have easily hit 3 million with people talking about it on Twitter viewers seem to switch to +1 to see it.
Its like the Denise Welch/twins night went over 3 million because of the amount of tweets and facebook status' people were gagging to see what happened.
Remember Channel 5 used to advertise the episodes on ITV for CBB 11?
That would be a very clever move tonight.
Good ratings.

I couldn't agree more, like Channel 4 did with BB10 when the ratings were through the floor, didnt help much but i think the same thing for tonight's show on the bigger channels could be a good idea, have a clip of Luisa and Dappy arguing, would definitely get the viewers!
What's more, this series is probably the first celebrity one on Channel5 that deserves over 3m viewers, the amount of people i've heard talking about it lately that otherwise refuse to watch the show is weird, it's like 10 years ago again, hopefully those ratings go up!

Good figures thus far, would like to see it reach 3m cause it deserves it but we can't have everything.
I must say I'm hearing so many people talking about this series which I really haven't heard in a long time. So many comments from people on Twitter that barely ever speak about it and I hear conversations in sixth form every day about it which I mean hasn't happened for like years, I even overheard one conversation the other day about BOTS and I thought I was the only bloody person I knew that watched that  it honestly feels kinda like the glory days of this show, like it's still on C4. Nice feeling actually to hear it getting the exposure it deserves

The fact its front page of The Sun shows how much interest there is in it. I would love to see what the on demand figures are.
The biggest mistake ratings wise they could make this year is if they split the final in to 2 parts and put some new American drama on inbetween..

I would think 8 million viewers a week Sherlock would be the bigger of the two threats. It is one of the highest rated shows on television. Fast and Furious will dent the +1 a bit when Sherlock's done, but it's not a ratings smasher, Sherlock will do the damage at 9.
It actually didn't do that badly against Sherlock at all last week. It dented it yes, but it was nothing disastrous. Should be ok tonight. :)

And if it can hold up against one of the biggest dramas on television, it can more than hold up against a film on C4. Though what that says for the tastes of BB's viewership I don't know, even I wouldn't choose it over Sherlock, and I'm a fan.

My only inclination to watch it over Sherlock is that BBC I player uploads stuff a hell of a lot faster and is a better service than 5 on demand :joker:
