Not necessarily, for the reasons I gave above.

The reason this thread has generated so much controversy here and elsewhere is that Jim is taking Casey aside to offering comfort during vulnerable moments, then using that as an excuse to initiate physical contact and make graphically sexual remarks. She never reciprocates the banter, even though she participated in playful banter with Lee. At times she has looked uncomfortable with Jim's remarks.

Casey cannot really pull Jim up on his behaviour, because of her enormous gratitude for his support. Thus Jim has created a lot of good feeling from Casey, and she feels obliged to tolerate it. His grim expression when she didn't cite him as someone she'd snog or marry resulted in her adding that she'd have an affair with him - the only time she has ever indulged in any bantering comment.

When Jim told her to sit beside him the other night, she refused to do so twice before finally, reluctantly doing so. That kinda says to me that she didn't want to sit beside Jim. I wouldn't either.

I know all his fans say he is a product of his generation, but I have to disagree. I have never come across a man who spoke like that to a woman, unless it was part of playful banter, or he was involved in a physical relationship with her..

Brilliant post. I wonder how many would watch a man doing what Jim is doing with Casey to their own daughter and think it was funny and comforting for their offspring.
The amount of people who just don't seem to understand that it is entirely inappropriate is staggering and worrying.

It's quite simple if you don't like the guy, fair enough don't vote for him,but those of us that do ,will not stop supporting him because some people are so offended by a joke that was aimed at cheering Casey up,some peoples minds are in the gutter so it seems.

How ironic. :joker:

Jim's mind is the one in the gutter.

It isn't just one remark aimed at cheering her up though. It's a series of lewd remarks and always demanding she sit beside him in the guise of 'comforting her'. Either he's a father figure or he just plain wants into her knickers. The problem is mixing the two which most people don't seem to (or don't want to) understand.

..I think that you're right, if people want to support Jim, they're perfectly fine to do it, whether it be because they like his personality/his humour or the fact that he's been a huge part of the series and a good housemate..whatever their reasons are perfectly justified...and if people don't support Jim, their reasons are also justified, whether it be because they prefer another housemate/don't like his humour or his personality etc...and whether it was a joke or not or whether people felt it was appropriate or not, I think it's obvious to see from this thread/forum and other things on the internet that opinions are still very much split on Jim..but I think it's very unnecessary and wrong to infer that anyone's mind is 'in the gutter' for justifiable comments in feeling that his comment was inappropriate because that's how they genuinely feel (and I'm sure that some people's opinion are from a parent's point of view as well..)...the same way as it would be wrong to infer that a Jim supporter/fan must condone some of the things that he 'jokes' about....

There is a difference between a 'father' and 'father figure'.If Caseys actual father said it to her,Then that would be disturbing.A fellow peer in the BB house saying it as a joke,Not so much,Jim is NOT Caseys dad,He can have a joke with her if he wants and she with him.Get over it already. There are plenty of couples with age differences so it is'nt wrong to talk sexually as long as they are both of the age of consent and IT WAS A JOKE!

Exactly.

It was an edgy joke, it was meant to cheer Casey up and it worked. She likes humour that's a bit edgy. So do millions of other people around the world. Edgy is good. It sells films, books, newspapers and tv shows. Including Big Brother.

That's the real joke here :

Big Brother is FAMOUS for being so full of edgy language and behaviour. Especially this year - sex talk galore, dappy's chappy, nipple licking, Lee and co behind the toilet door, the over 18s room and BOTS playing Lionel saying suck my d*** every episode etc etc

The whole program is edgy! - it's notorious for it - and it's edge is a BIG reason why people watch it, keep watching it and love it!

In the middle of all that swearing, finerbanging and nipple flashing - is anyone really surprised or genuinely shocked that a housemate has made an edgy JOKE ????

The show itself is a non-stop parade of edgy material full of sex talk, people getting naked, swearing and talking like they do on a drunk night out with their mates and is basically fantastic late night trash viewing -

So if you are likely to get offended by any of that which of course is gonna include the odd edgy JOKE now and then, or if you cannot accept it when other people enjoy a joke that you don't like - then maybe this is not the show for you?

It's Big Brother - not Gardener's world. What did you expect?

That was entirely different. They had been asked to improvise a sex scene, and Jasmine was absolutely fine with that, just as I would have been under similar circumstances.

Lionel was an utter gentleman towards the girls. He could swear for England, and was a bit shocked by some of sexual conduct and talk within the house, which made him fabulously entertaining for me. He had a few spats with people, and used colourful language, but never once did I ever see anything but exemplary conduct towards any of the women.

Not necessarily. I think because her mum has more or less given Jim permission to be Casey's 'father' (or uncle) while in the house, Casey wouldn't like him to feel bad about anything.

I don't think Casey's and Jim's relationship is innocent as as Casey's mum thinks it is. Jim obviously fancies Casey and he cannot help flirting with her - even when he's supposed to be the 'dad' of the house.

Old habits die hard and Jim had a massive reputation when he was younger for having a string of girlfriends.

He's said many times 'jokingly' how he'd like to **** Casey and made other pervy comments.

I think deep down Casey is a little disturbed by these comments. She laughs it off but the 'bathing of the daughter and enjoying it' made her a little more uncomfortable.

There's a part of the brain that says.. "I shouldn't say that..." Some people can switch it off at certain times. A certain form of psychosis allows you to turn it off, and comedians have this ability. Alcohol also turns it off. Jim has this ability plus alcohol, so he turned it off.

I didn't forget it. I made specific reference to his spats and use of colourful language, as a direct reference to his arguments with Luisa. They were having an argument which got heated and he used some language which wouldn't have been new to Luisa. I personally don't have a problem with bad language used in the heat of the moment: it's the 21st century and bad language is commonplace now.

Fine. We can agree to differ. I am generally treated extremely well by men of all ages, and I would have no problem at all with Lionel's behaviour. Both he and Luisa got annoyed, and he told her what he thought of her using some language which is in current use on TV and everywhere else. That does not mean that he was not behaving like a gentleman, in my view. He kept his hands to himself, and treated all the women appropriately. In contrast, I would absolutely cringe if someone did to me what Jim is doing to Casey, objectifying and humilating me by making reference to my "knockers" or other tasteless/sleazy remarks.

As I say, we can agree to differ. I am entitled to state my opinion, even if it's different from yours or anyone elses.

To do otherwise might seem petty or ungrateful.

Great post.

The part I've highlighted is why I think Casey doesn't like the constant sexual innuendos. There's no back and forth.

Imagine if she comes out and says Jim was a sex pest :joker:

If she comes out first she could ruin his chances for the win :amazed:

She thanked him last night for helping her as did Sam I doubt she would have done that if she felt violated.

Violated is a bit strong but I do think she'd prefer that he didn't. She loves the banter, her and Lee were always at it but she never banters back with Jim, apart from last night when he stuck his pet lip out because she didn't choose to marry or snog him.

i get his jokes and i watch many comedies or whatever that have offensive jokes (doesnt mean i think hes really that funny or should even though i have laughed at some of his one liners before) but i thought he was going on a bit much with the tits jokes. i was even thinking can he joke about something else with her.
